The tool was implemented in the company to provide computer security for the encryption of disks to protect information stored in electronic devices such as computers, mobile phones, laptops, and smartphones. Its characteristics and functionalities were presented in their proper form and were able to guarantee that all our regulations were completely protected and insured in case of theft or loss of equipment. In cases where they were lost or stolen, strangers could not obtain any sensitive information.

It's an excellent solution in the security market.

The tool managed to establish regulations related to being able to have devices outside the organization. With extensive characteristics offered to us, we had full confidence that this tool was protecting the information and that our employees could be safe if they suffered any theft. 

Despite this, we had to migrate to a new tool since it left the market. Also, due to support issues, we had to make the change. However, it was still a very good experience using the tool.

Check Point Pointsec [EOL], in the 2000s, was one of the pioneers in information security with its new analysis and security on mobile devices. This tool marked an era of innovative features. It had such as disk encryption, secure authentication, centralized administration, and password management. It was a tool that revolutionized the security market. 

In our case, it helped us a lot in maintaining well-secured equipment and providing confidence to each of our collaborators.

At the time when this tool was launched on the market, it had new technologies integrated within. It was the beginning of the revolution of computing, and at the beginning, with the characteristics, everything was wonderful. However, if we compare it with today's technologies, we see that it is lacking quite a few things, including a nice interface, more functionalities, integrations with third parties, more security administration in policies, and more detailed reports. 

I managed this tool around 2017; it was one of the first tools I used for four years.

The solution has some stability problems.

I didn't have much flexibility with scalability at first.

At first in this area it was very effective, however, later, technical support lost its ability to pay attention to the customer.

No other tool had been implemented before this solution. 

The installation was quite complex.

The implementation was carried out through a vendor.

The investment had its return in ensuring safety and security.

It was a somewhat expensive tool. However, it was worth the implementation cost.

No other tool was evaluated.

It was one of the best tools on the market.

Check Point Pointsec was one of the solutions we used when we were on-premise; it is an endpoint encryption solution that we used to protect confidential data on laptops, desktops, and removable media. With this, we were able to secure many devices and safeguard information. When we did the migration to the Azure cloud we had to make changes in our security tools, and one that we changed was this one for one of the same brand (since we had used it for many years and we already had the experience and support with Check Point). This is why, in the end, we acquired Check Point Full Disk Encryption Software.

In the first few years, we needed a tool to encrypt Check Point Pointsec devices. It was one of the first tools we acquired. It was an excellent tool with many functionalities that helped to be able to manage all the security in the aforementioned endpoint devices effectively and efficiently.

Previously, we were able to ensure that our workers were safe from theft or hacking. It also helped us to standardize more centralized management, helping us to improve security standards and implement consistent policies across all devices, reducing risks and potential vulnerabilities significantly.

Some features that were commonly considered valuable are:

• Full disk encryption helps us ensure that data stored on a device is encrypted.
• Removable media encryption helps us encrypt data stored on removable media, such as USB drives and external hard drives.
• Centralized management helps manage encryption policies and keys from a central location.
• Compliance reporting helps us comply with regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA and PCI-DSS.

These and other features made Check Point Pointsec an excellent tool for security and compliance.

The tool presented many good features. However, they could have implemented some to improve it at the time. Some could be:

• Integration with other security solutions would have made it possible to integrate with solutions such as detection and prevention in order to have more breadth and economize on tools.
• An easier-to-use interface. The UI was one of the most difficult points to get used to. Due to the UI, even though it was used every day, the administration was complicated.
• Compatibility with mobile devices.

The solution was implemented 7 years ago..

The tool is very solid. The stability is impressive. To this day, it does not present any problems. You can trust it.

The tool's scalability is very good - so much so that we have not had any problems since it was acquired.

The experience has not been very good. We always have problems since they do not schedule a session in advance, they do not meet the SLA for responses or omissions, and the support hours are limited for Latin America.

In the last two years, we changed the tool to a more modern one yet kept it to the Check Point family. The change was made since technology has to be constantly evolving.

The installation and configuration of the tool were very simple. It has a very interactive wizard that guides you in the configuration part, which is a bit complex (since we did not have much experience).

The implementation was done with the help of an engineer from the provider. He helped us with the configuration and explained various details. The engineer's experience was good.

It is always good to make an investment in security since the investment will be profitable in the future.

The cost is accessible, however, not for many. It is an excellent tool. Other companies may not have the best solution on the market. The installation is easy as it is very interactive.

We evaluated different options in the market to have the best security solution. We ended up choosing Check Point, however, some brands we also looked at were Sophos, Fortinet, Ubiquiti EdgeRouter, OPNSense, and Cisco.

It is a great solution with very good features and provides excellent security.

We had the need to provide our users with a secure organizational browsing experience based on the fact that in the past, we had attacks by more inexperienced users browsing the network without the relevant security. 

The initiative to implement a Check Point solution was encouraged due to the fact that we already have a relationship with the brand, and it was where we adopted the Check Point Secure Web Gateway, which was mainly to help filter the URLs that each user tried to access and block some categories so that they are not reachable.

From the moment we started using Check Point Secure Web Gateway, we realized its great value and ability to take it not only on-premise but also into our cloud-based environment. We are integrating features like data loss prevention and software enablement of the antivirus. Above all, it's giving us that value that we so much needed in terms of security and navigation. 

Although Check Point resembles the capabilities that NGFWs have, they are not the same since SWG provides security against advanced internet-based attacks by inspecting traffic at the application layer.

One of the characteristics that give us the most value is that it offers the ability to perform HTTPS inspections. It manages to scan and protect the SSL encryption that passes through the gateway, and the gateway decrypts the traffic with the public key of the sender. They review, analyze, secure, and then re-encrypt the content so that the encrypted content that passes through our SWG and back to the sender. It is also important to understand that data such as banks or health centers can be omitted due to privacy issues, and thus users are more relaxed about personal and financial security issues.

Improvements will depend a lot on technological evolution. Today, security issues are taken to services such as Infinity or Harmony, which are Check Point products. They are innovating and managing to secure and protect our equipment in a fast and simple way. That said, there are characteristics that one would like to bring to portable devices. Based on that, asking for something new is very complex. We would maybe want (in the future) advanced security in the filtering of access to the metaverse by augmented reality cameras.

I've used the solution for 1.5 years.

Check Point GAiA was part of our firewall and security solution.

The threat detection is good.

Check Point GAiA is easy to use.

The installation, setup, and configuration should be easier to complete.

In the next release of this solution, I would like to see application identity support.

We only evaluated this solution for a short time.

This is a stable solution. I find that all of the solutions in this category are stable and that the set of features is more important.

There were between 2,000 and 3,000 people using this solution.

If you have a Premium Support plan then the technical support is very good.

I have used solutions by several similar vendors, including Palo Alto. There was not a single feature in this solution that we did not have with Palo Alto.

The initial setup is more difficult than it is with other vendors. For example, it is much easier to set up the Palo Alto solution.

The length of time required for deployment depends on how complex the environment is.

We did the implementation ourselves.

We have ten to fifteen people in the corporation but only two or three who worked directly with Check Point.

Overall, this is a good product but it does lack features that we need.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.
