My main use case for Endevor is asset management. For asset management, we use Engage software for life cycle management, eHealth, and eStrategy.
Endevor helps me manage the asset life cycle by allowing us to evaluate all of our utility equipment in the software. Day-to-day, we manage probably over 50 stations and 50 unique sites in the software. The best feature Endevor offers is single dashboards for the whole company.
The single dashboards do not help my team or the company as a whole. I feel the dashboards are not helpful because the search features are not customizable. The software is web-based and the server is extremely slow. To improve Endevor, its cloud or web-based server capabilities should be increased so that the software is faster. The ability to customize reports should be increased.
I have been using Endevor for four years.
Endevor has not impacted my organization positively, if at all. It has not had a positive impact because the software was designed for nuclear level utilities with relatively few sites and relatively in-depth systems, while we are using this in hydroelectric for a vast number of sites with relatively little equipment at each site. The web-based capability is poor, and the time spent for the 75 to 125 engineers that use this on a regular basis is poorly spent because we are mostly staring at a screen refreshing.
My advice to others looking into using Endevor is that if you are a nuclear electrical utility, the software is likely well-suited, but if you are any other utility, the software is poorly suited for asset management. I rated this review as a one out of five.
We use the basic feature set of Endevor to control and track all of the sales operations within our company.
It is a very good product that allows safe management of the individual components. The tools are specifically designed for mainframe environments, providing features tailored to the unique requirements of the systems, ensuring there are no mistakes.
The main challenges are its limited interface and the complexity of the customization. The user interface may seem outdated and affect user experience.
I have used the solution for twenty years.
I am highly satisfied with the stability. I rate it ten out of ten.
It is designed to handle complex software projects while accommodating multiple versions and developers. I would rate the scalability of the solution nine out of ten.
We are currently researching other solutions that can be a better option for our organization, so we may possibly change to BMC as it provides a better and updated solution for their users.
Endevor provides a stable workflow that ensures good control and consistency of the operations. I would rate it eight out of ten.

The solution guarantees the correspondence of the source and executable code (integrity) as well as automates the compilation processes. It also has other uses, such as automatic customization of JCLs/PROCs, and validation of standard names in PGMs, PROCs, JCL, PARM, etc.
It offers a single package of changes for mainframe and distributed and has reversal contingency and DRP.
There is a generation of environments to enable different stages of development and on-demand (DESA, UAT, and CRVL - Pre-production).
It offers security and audit of changes in information assets (software).
It is a mature company in information asset management. The solution helps improve:
The most valuable aspect of the solution is the ACM Component Monitor for impact analysis and footprint. It is very useful.
Endevor integrations for Enterprise DevOps is helpful. It provides the Bridge for Git that provides a Git front-end for Endevor.
Endevor web services are great for modern interaction and the use of VSC.
The dynamic environments are good. It facilitates the creation of environments and helps developers run on-parallel changes supporting agile development.
PDM is useful for mixing multiple sources in parallel development and much more.
The ENBPIU00 (table tool) helps with best practice implementation.
If I had to comment on an area of improvement or something new in the next or future version, I would like to see AI-assisted coding and impact analysis for mainframes.
It is actually a fairly complete product. It is robust with a solid history and is always growing in functionality. It has a high level of maturity, which benefits the users and the administrators.
This tool, with its group of options, facilitates the integration with other business processes, which allows you to take advantage of other solutions by incorporating automatic functions.
I started using the solution in 1995 as a customer. I knew about the solution before the provider was CA Technologies.
The product is very stable.
The solution is scalable and very stable.
It continues to be rewarding to be able to bring many ideas to customers and improve their current facilities. There is full support with updates for new versions.
Positive
The solutions that I previously used were in a distributed environment.
If you come up with a good design, follow the recommendations, and start with a pilot with varied content of "types" of programs, then gradual incorporation of the systems into the inventory, it is straightforward.
We implemented the solution internally. We had staff with a high experience level.

The integrity of the system is valuable. It provides secure, controlled access to source management and the typical check-in and check-out functions in a typical source management product.
The solution can improve its parallel development, unlike more distributed source management systems like GIT or PVCs. It is more oriented towards single control of the source.
We have been using this solution for approximately 30 years.
The solution is scalable.
The customer service and support team are not helpful and they're slow to respond. The quality is not good, and most people who developed the product don't work for them anymore. They've laid off most of their staff and tried to charge for everything on the support front. Our experience was very poor and they've almost doubled the price of the product.
The initial setup is highly complex. It requires a project to design the implementation of the software. It is not a straightforward default solution.
We are currently evaluating Micro Focus ChangeMan. Its features are comparable. They have support for modern distributed type processing and are supporting GIT web services, which are unavailable on CA Endevor Software Change Manager.
I rate the solution five out of ten. The solution is good and can improve its parallel development. Interfaces to GIT, web services and integration with modern developer workbenches can be included in the next release. I advise people considering implementing this solution to look for an alternative solution if they do not have it already.
We use the product as a source manager and program manager. It helps in controlling the mainframe code and performing data migrations.
Endevor is easy to use.
The product’s implementation process is complicated and restrictive. It is difficult to find file programs and use a different tool for the setup as the compilation process is all locked up, at least in our implementation. We might switch to MySQL for the same reason.
We have been using Endevor for ten years. We use the latest version.
The product is stable, but it is not static as we are developing software.
We have 100 Endevor users in our organization. It is a very scalable product.
I use SCLM as well.
The initial setup process is complex with complicated programs. We have a primary technical executive and two support executives to handle the implementation.
We implement the product with the help of third-party vendors and our in-house staff.
The product is expensive.
I rate Endevor a seven out of ten. I wouldn’t recommend it to others. It could have better pricing and support strategies.
Endevor can improve parallel development.
I have been using Endevor for seven years.
I rate the stability of Endevor an eight out of ten.
We have approximately 200 people using the solution.
I rate the scalability of Endevor an eight out of ten.
I used the support, but the solution is stable and did not use them often.
The initial setup of Endevor is of a medium difficulty.
I rate Endevor an eight out of ten.
Our primary use case for the solution is management, version control, process, or building management. Additionally, we deploy the solution on local storage.
We find the robustness of the product and the process management process valuable.
The solution is very good and prevalent in larger organizations, but the solution can be improved by integrating more smoothly with the open world.
We have been using the solution for approximately one year and are currently on version 18.
The solution is stable. I rate it a ten out of ten. There is rarely any downtime from the product because of the infrastructure of the software. The sites could make a mistake but not the product.
The solution is scalable. It allows you to start with a pilot of three or four users and easily increase it to 1000 or 2000 users to even millions of users. There are no restrictions on how big it gets. I rate the scalability a ten out of ten.
I rate technical support a ten out of ten. They have a short turnaround of about a day to get issues rectified. It's one of the best supportive products that I know.
Positive
We did not use any other solutions, but we considered Endevor's most significant competitor at the time ISPW.
I rate the initial setup a five out of ten. When you come into sites with 5,000 files, you integrate them into the package. So you have to do a lot of analysis, which is time-consuming. These are external to the product and take many months to implement.
The first thing is to understand how all the source management is going on in the organization and what processes are needed to build all those sources. Then deciding who will deploy the objects and planning considerations. Once all the planning is done, you have to go through the plan, which takes many months as it is best to review it in chunks. Then, you can do a pilot, but after the pilot, the procedure takes many months.
We implemented the solution in-house, and I have personally implemented approximately 15 of these solutions.
The return from Endevor is clear. Firstly, all of the process management is automated. Users do not have to be concerned about how to build out of their source. It completely masks the unit and there are no mistakes. The product is built, so everything is automatic. The source management is excellent because it gives you versioning so you can easily go back to an old version, which is also very important for the users. It isolates between developed production permits, which provides flexibility and security for the user and provides protection to prevent unauthorized access by source users. So users of one team cannot see the source of another group. For example, mask the payroll source from the entire organization. Hence, all of these things provide a considerable return because without a sound source management system, if you have hundreds of users and hundreds of thousands of files, you have a colossal mess on every site that doesn't have it. Therefore this solution provides order as it is an excellent container to manage this tremendous asset of financial institutions with over one billion dollars.
The solution is very expensive. There have been negotiations between our customers and Broadcom, the product owner. It also depends on the basket of products they have from Broadcom. Sometimes we use it because the licensing costs are bundled in with many others. It is an expensive product.
I rate the solution an eight out of ten. The solution is good, but since it was developed over 50 years ago, the open world hasn't been taken into account. The solution can be improved by integrating it with current-day changes.
