Our use cases are around extracting key information from videos and images, and storing them. Media Management extracts recognizable language from audio and video files and generates an SRT file to be embedded with a video. This is a multi-tool recognition solution for media. We are platinum partners with OpenText and I'm a senior presales consultant.
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
This is a good solution and if you include it as part of a bigger ecosystem, then it is very useful. It enables you to deal more easily with videos, especially if you're working with a high volume that needs cutting and editing. It's an all-in-one media solution in terms of media management. The solution has the Rich Media Analysis feature that extracts the main information of an image or video, which is different from abstracting the attributes or metadata of a pdf, for example. It basically extracts everything you need from an image.
What needs improvement?
The solution is not very user friendly, and if you're coming from a conventional enterprise content management background, there is a steep learning curve. I think it should make itself more discoverable to technical people and that includes the documentation which is lacking in terms of ease of use. I'd like to see some right to left languages as an additional feature. We have to integrate with third parties in order for Arabic to be recognized. It would make a big difference to have that included. It's something that a lot of the competitors are doing. OpenText is lagging in that regard. We're based in Egypt and unfortunately we're unable to implement the full functionality of the solution and get the best out of the product.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using this solution for two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is very reliable in terms of performance and it supports multiple deployment options. We haven't had any issues with it and I haven't seen any anomalies in how the application or platform works.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I haven't had experience with scalability but according to the official documentation, it is pretty scalable.
How are customer service and support?
Technical support is fine if you're dealing with top-level support. Below that level, things can take time and you may have to escalate.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was pretty straightforward. There are a couple of tricky areas that one needs to be aware of, but if you follow the installation guide it will be fine. We carried out the simplest deployment as we were using the product for investigation purposes. I was able to do the implementation in a few days. Deployment probably requires a team of five technical experts, including a technical lead, a team leader, two senior engineers, and two junior engineers.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The solution is quite expensive and you need to pay extra for external sharing, and features such as OpenText Hightail or Accelerated Media Transfer, which allows you to batch upload content and get it analyzed. Editing requires integration with Adobe Creative Cloud and that also costs extra.
What other advice do I have?
From a customer standpoint, contact OpenText before deciding if this is the appropriate product for your organization. It helps to have an explanation of the main features explained before deciding to purchase and OpenText sales staff really know their product.
I rate this solution eight out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Private Cloud
