| Oracle ATG e-Commerce Architect at a tech services company with 10,001+ employees | 4.5 | I found Oracle ATG Commerce an excellent, highly scalable, and stable enterprise solution with great personalization. | Director of eCommerce at a tech company with 51-200 employees | 4.0 | We found Oracle ATG offers good mobile and Oracle integration with strong merchandising. We use the solution for order management.
The tool is useful for B2B retail operations. The e-commerce platform is helpful for our customers when searching for products they want to buy. They can look up items using part numbers or product descriptions, which helps them find exactly what they want. We rely on the search functionality a lot.
After customers find what they need, they can place orders through our order management process. Those are the main things we use the platform for. Even though Oracle ATG isn’t getting much investment for new innovations, it’s still stable.
We have some integrations in place. For example, we've connected with third-party payment gateways to handle transactions and also have integrations with vendors who supply components for our products. However, it’s not a huge operation. We deal with moderate transaction volumes.
The UI might not be the fanciest, and since it's an older system, our customers are sometimes hesitant to invest in it. They're even considering moving to new e-commerce solutions, maybe even something custom-built in-house.
It's quite basic and bland compared to today's modern web developments, which have enhanced user experiences. We're just providing support services to our customers, and they’ve been exploring a move to Oracle Commerce.
However, there's some concern about Oracle Commerce's future, especially since support for version 11.3.2 is set to end in March 2025. We haven’t heard back from Oracle regarding any plans to extend support. We’re just keeping the lights on for now, but a transformation might be on the horizon.
We have done some proof of concept with Oracle Commerce.
I have been using the product for five to six years.
The product is generally very stable. However, Oracle ATG might not be ideal for high-traffic B2C commerce sites like Amazon or Flipkart, where the traffic volume can be very high. It tends to struggle under such conditions. For our customers who are in the B2B space, the lower traffic levels are manageable with Oracle ATG.
We have contacted Oracle technical support with issues or questions about Oracle ATG. We raise service requests whenever we encounter product bugs or features that aren’t working as expected. My experience with Oracle support has been lengthy, spanning over two decades, and while it’s generally satisfactory, the challenges arise due to the age of the product. Sometimes, newer technicians may lack in-depth knowledge of the product’s architecture and features, which can be a struggle. This is a common issue with older products, as there are fewer staff with knowledge.
Neutral
The main difference between Oracle ATG and Oracle Commerce is that Oracle Commerce is essentially Oracle ATG moved to the cloud. In our POC, we found that while Oracle Commerce means you don’t manage the infrastructure yourself—Oracle does—it’s not a pure cloud solution like AWS or GCP. It’s still fundamentally the same Oracle ATG product hosted on Oracle’s hardware. It doesn’t offer the full scalability or cloud-native features we expected. Because of this, the customer questioned why they should switch if it’s not a true cloud solution. Additionally, there’s some concern about the long-term strategy for Oracle Commerce, as there’s no clear plan for its future beyond March 2025.
The tool's licensing is costly. Finding the right talent to manage it is also a challenge.
I rate the overall product a seven out of ten.

We use the tool to scan customer documents at our different branches. These documents are needed to evaluate and underwrite loans for our customers. When a customer approaches us for a loan, we need to take their documents and scan them using the software.
The tool's most valuable features are its integration with various scanners, OCR capability, and ability to populate the system with a lot of information. We use the workload automation feature occasionally.
The solution has standard integrations and all the necessary APIs, so we can technically utilize it effectively.
One drawback is that the tool could be more agile in adding new features. Since the product is very big, new features aren't added continuously. However, it already meets most of our requirements for day-to-day use.
A feature that could be improved is the ease of integrating various systems. We currently use it as a standalone solution and integrate it with other systems. A better way to integrate with newer systems, especially mobile apps, could exist.
I think the compression technology could be improved even more, and it would be helpful if the software could integrate directly with certain applications.
I have been using the product for a year now.
Oracle ATG is stable.
The solution is scalable. Although we haven't encountered any issues with bandwidth as we are new to using it, I know many banks use it and can support very high volumes. In our company, the solution is being used by more than 1,200 users across 116 branches in India.
DocuShare is mainly used in our company for e-signatures and doesn't offer many features relevant to the Indian market.
Oracle ATG's deployment is easy and takes three months to complete. One resource would be needed to handle it.
We have seen cost savings because we were using a third-party document management system. We expect benefits from using this product in less than two years.
The product's pricing is moderate. We use a license module.
I rate the overall solution a nine out of ten. It a good product. My main advice for others, considering it, is to ensure you have the right team in place for the transition. Having a capable and responsible team is crucial for ensuring delivery.
The client has a book-selling portal where they sell books. Currently, they are using the old 10.x version of Oracle Commerce. They are looking for an open-source solution where the license cost is not very high. The migration timeline should not be very high because they want to migrate completely within one year. We have a lot of third-party integration in our product. We need some solutions where we will be able to migrate easily without changing much.
Oracle ATG is a very good and mature product. The merchandising part is where the business user adds and configures permissions, which is quite important for us.
Other companies provide us with cloud-based solutions. So far, with Oracle ATG, I haven't seen any good cloud-based solutions. They started with cloud-based, but I think it was not very successful.
It would be helpful if we could use Oracle ATG with mobile app development. I didn't work much there, but I have used REST API with the mobile application for the Android app or the iOS app. Apart from that, it would be better if we get some other way of doing it more easily.
I have been using Oracle ATG for 13 years.
Oracle ATG is a stable solution. I rate Oracle ATG an eight out of ten for stability.
Our clients are mostly enterprise businesses.
I rate Oracle ATG an eight out of ten for scalability.
The good part about Oracle is its community, where you can raise your issues and get a solution. So far, I have had a great experience with the Oracle community.
Positive
Oracle ATG's initial setup is pretty easy. I faced a little bit of difficulty with the Endeca configuration. I rate Oracle ATG an eight out of ten for the ease of its initial setup.
Oracle ATG's deployment takes one to two days.
Oracle ATG is an expensive solution. Although its license cost is a bit on the higher side, Oracle ATG is a reliable product. Enterprise businesses can afford Oracle ATG, but medium-sized clients may find buying it difficult.
My experience with Oracle ATG has been very good. I recommend Oracle ATG to users looking for a reliable, complete, end-to-end e-commerce solution.
Overall, I rate Oracle ATG a nine out of ten.

My company's clients use the tool for e-commerce.
The product is really good. It is a robust tool that can scale up in any business, including some multi-million businesses. The only issue with the tool is that it is not cloud-based. Nowadays, everything gets moved into the cloud, and people also want to reduce their dependence on the infrastructure, which is why they are moving out of Oracle ATG. The people who are on Oracle ATG are very happy.
The tool is not cloud-based, and licensing and hosting are expensive. The tool can be improved in both areas.
I have been using Oracle ATG for eleven years. I act as a managed service provider.
Glitches are going to be there if the tool is not implemented in the right way. It is a stable solution compared to whatever competition we have seen.
Overall, scalability is not at all a problem.
Oracle has completely ignored Oracle ATG, and the solution has announced that all support and services associated with the product will be stopped by 2025, but as per a recent announcement, it has been extended to 2030. Considering the SaaS platforms and cloud solutions, Oracle has ignored Oracle ATG. I see that many customers using Oracle ATG want to continue using it. Everything depends on the strategy and decisions of the product's users.
I use Salesforce and Oracle.
I haven't really worked with any platforms similar to Oracle ATG.
As a service provider for ten to eleven years, I know how to do the product's initial setup process in a speedy manner. I don't know how difficult the product can be for a technical person to manage. I manage things with the tool, but I am not a technical person.
For whomsoever my company had implemented the tool but who have moved on to a different product or their own application like microservices had experienced a good ROI from the use of Oracle ATG as they had increased their footprint big time using an e-commerce platform using e-commerce platform. After some of our company's brick-and-mortar store customers got into e-commerce, they all started to become the number one selling platforms. I am not the right person to tell what the time frame is or what return on investments it offers, but I know that it has given a very good ROI.
The merchandising tools in Oracle ATG are good but the only thing is if it is moving out from the BCC, then things get a bit difficult. Once you get used to it, Oracle ATG is a wonderful tool.
Maintenance of the tool is not difficult because it is a scalable solution. However, it might not be suitable for small businesses or mid-sized businesses. It may be suitable for some mid-sized to large businesses.
Speaking about the integration capabilities of the product, I would say that compared to the latest applications or app-based applications, which are there in the market as of now, what I understand is that the microservice-based application is much easier and faster for the integrations compared to Oracle ATG. The tool's integration capabilities don't pull it down because, in the product, the APIs are exposed for the integrations.
Everything can be built on top of the product. I don't understand why my people talk about AI in every solution, but I know that when enterprise-level customers want to work with it, they don't want to invest. Some might have a few use cases associated with AI. Though many people talk about AI, not many are implementing AI chatbots or AI voice assistants for their businesses. The people are not implementing anything big with AI. We can certainly have AI for anything, for that matter. Oracle ATG intrinsically will not give users any AI features.
I rate the overall tool an eight out of ten.

For our e-commerce site, we make use of the entire ATG suite and its multisite concept. This allows us to have multiple sites running on the platform. We take full advantage of all the components such as ATG's BCC (Business Control Center) and XM (Experience Manager). We also use the e-commerce engine in its entirety, taking advantage of all the promotion and targeting features available. Other features we make use of include tiered pricing. In short, we use the entire ATG e-commerce suite.
The Oracle e-commerce platform offers a great way to share products, profiles, and user accounts across multiple sites. Additionally, the platform enables us to target our sites to end users quickly and effectively.
The most valuable features are all the promotion capabilities and the tiered-pricing capabilities.
We're currently exploring cloud solutions for our e-commerce solution. Oracle has a cloud solution, but some on-prem features are not available in the cloud version. I started looking into what other cloud products are available that we can leverage. I would like Oracle to add all the on-prem features of the solution to the cloud.
I have been using the solution for 12 years.
The stability of Oracle ATG is robust.
The scalability is pretty good. The solution can handle large volumes depending on our infrastructure, Oracle ATG can handle the traffic.
Based on the documentation provided by Oracle (formerly ATG), implementation steps are pretty much straightforward. Though the name has changed, we still refer to it as ATG, and Oracle provides good documentation to help with the process.
The time to deploy depends on the number of applications and the number of JVMs. It typically takes from 15 to 30 minutes.
The implementation was completed in-house.
I give the solution an eight out of ten.
We have an in-house team that supports both development and production, along with maintenance activities. Automation is taken care of by scripts that handle deployments. Different team members are responsible for different activities.
We have around 15 websites running on Oracle ATG, and we have a lot of users who actually use the sites.
We are going to use the solution accordingly based on the business requirements, depending on the new websites we are going to receive and on the new businesses.
It is a typical user journey. We configure products, and our customers use our site. They choose a product, and then they place a shipment request for the product.
The features that help us to change the product and pricing are good. They give us enough flexibility to manage this application.
There should be some sort of native integration. All the integrations that we build are completely customized.
There should also be a mechanism for user surveys and product reviews. As of now, I don't see any feature related to these. It must have a provision for doing customer surveys and allowing customers to give product feedback. If I have a customer who purchased something on the website, there has to be a mechanism for a company to capture the feedback. This feature is currently not there. Similarly, if a customer wants to do a review of the product, there is no native feature for that.
I have been using this solution for a couple of years.
It is pretty stable.
It is scalable.
As far as I can remember, we have never reached out to technical support because there wasn't any need as such.
My engineer would be able to answer this better, but my impression is that it was pretty straightforward. It took about three to four weeks.
We have our own team for that. We have about five people for its deployment. We have a manager, a few developers, an architect, and a tester.
I would recommend this solution. I would rate Oracle ATG a seven out of ten.
It has helped clients to achieve higher sales revenue, profitability, efficiency, and accelerate growth.
Its licensing cost could be brought down.
Have used this for more than 10 years now, helping more than a dozen clients launch online on the Oracle ATG Commerce platform.
It's a highly stable platform. Only on a few occasions, after initial go-live, were there issues with stability. These were resolved with a further bit of fine tuning.
In terms of scalabilty, it's one of the best available in market. Very rarely are there issues with scalabilty.
I would rate it at very good, four on a scale from one to five, where five is the best.
A few clients were previously using Magento and other eCommerce solutions before switching to this.
If experienced architects are involved in project, then initial set up is straightforward.
Pricing and licensing are a bit on the higher side but it comes with its own set of advantages.
Yes, other options such as Hybris, Magento, Demandware, and IBM WebSphere Commerce were evaluated.
Oracle ATG Commerce is the leading enterprise eCommerce solution with around 50% of Fortune 100 companies using it.
There are several valuable features, such as the quick deployment of e-commerce platforms, the ability to customize and personalize, and the Endeca-driven search engine.
The personalization engine is the best part of this product. We're able to customize it according to our and our customers' needs and how we want it to function.
It can be complicated to set up if you don't know how to do it.
I work for a consulting company and I've have been helping our customers implement it for eight years now.
The initial setup was complicated, but after that we didn't have any issues with deployment.
I wouldn't say it's any stabler than its competitors, but it is stable. We haven't had any major issues with instability.
In order to scale, you need more hardware, so the product itself is not scalable. It's the way you implement it, or the number of hardware you use, which makes it scalable.
The level of technical support is fine, in my experience.
For someone who doesn't know how to implement it, it's not straightforward as there are some complexities, especially with the customization.
We implemented it with our in-house team.
I would compare it with another vendor, like IBM Websphere Commerce or iBreeze. The best thing with Oracle Commerce is the personalization engine, and then the integration with one of the best search engines, which is Endeca. Those two combinations make it a valuable product to use compared to WebSpeed, which I've used, and iBreeze, which I don't really know much about, just a little.
- Good support for iphones, Android and other mobile devices
- If you're an Oracle shop, its integration with Oracle Apps is very valuable
- Can manage multiple sites with an integrated dashboard
- Merchandising and promotion features are very good
-Our impressions from testing out ATG is that it requires a lot of customization and professional services, which is not what we were looking for.
We evaluated Oracle ATG last year. It was a good solution but we did not choose it because of the complexity of deployment as noted above. I'm sure it will be a good solution for retailers with larger budgets.
