What is our primary use case?
I work as a consultant for
Aruba ClearPass, and I do not manage it directly. My primary use cases include onboarding, posturing, and guest management.
What is most valuable?
Aruba ClearPass is easy to manage and less complicated compared to other NAC solutions, which makes it valuable. The integration is possible with heterogeneous vendors, so it is better for Aruba ClearPass. Role-based access control is very much required because identities are being compromised, and in that sense, privileged access identities, and identities which have roles defined for multiple things, are essential.
What needs improvement?
The user interface is a little old school compared to other solutions. During demos and various sessions, it's clear that compared to others like
Cisco ISE or Genian, it looks dated. It would also be beneficial to integrate more AI capabilities, as certain use cases can benefit from quicker setup and implementation.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with Aruba ClearPass for two to three years.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
Aruba has fewer complications when integrating with various devices such as heterogeneous switches or wireless devices from different vendors like Cisco. The implementation and turnaround time for this solution is more efficient compared to others.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
There aren't many stability issues, but sometimes the guest management function occasionally throws errors. However, those are manageable by engineers.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Aruba ClearPass is scalable, especially when it comes to virtual environments.
How are customer service and support?
The tech support of Aruba is pretty good. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate it around seven or eight.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have worked with other NAC solutions, such as
Cisco ISE. Aruba is less complicated in integration and policy application.
How was the initial setup?
The setup process is straightforward, with Aruba ClearPass being easier to implement compared to other solutions.
What about the implementation team?
The implementation is mostly done by the post-engineering team or the implementation team.
What was our ROI?
ROI is good in terms of making management easy for customers. The investment is huge for enterprise clients, but Aruba ClearPass makes processes easier.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Compared to Cisco and others, the pricing is reasonable. Licensing costs are case-specific and have been manageable.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I have worked with other NAC solutions like Cisco ISE and Genian.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Aruba ClearPass as a seven out of ten. We have good expertise in Aruba ClearPass and advise customers to adopt it. The solution is well accepted in the market.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
