What is our primary use case?
In the banking domain, there is a process to automate fraud processing. In India, there is a portal which handles all frauds. Many public sector banks such as SBI, Union Bank, and ICICI use this system. If someone faces fraud, they must report it on a certain website with specific details about the type of fraud that occurred. All banks' issues and frauds are reported on this central website.
Our tool makes decisions about the type of fraud, such as mistaken money transfers or money laundering. Our bot receives the message, makes a decision, and determines whether it is a sentimental message, decision-making request, or money laundering case. According to the description, the bot makes a decision and finds the message to send with a registered ID to different websites.
For money laundering cases, there is a specific website, and the bot automatically sends mail to both the person and the head of the bank, making the fraud process easier to handle. For instance, if money is deducted by mistake and a request is raised, it will get refunded automatically. This is a single use case involving decision making, and we have used AI Bedrock, Amazon Bedrock for this purpose.
What is most valuable?
I have three plus years of experience in AutomationEdge to deliver emerging technology in banking. During my tenure, I have delivered more than 40 processes. AutomationEdge is excellent, and I also have hands-on experience with Automation Anywhere.
I am an end user of AutomationEdge.
AutomationEdge has shown the most productive impact. In the past, there was no AI impact. Now in the market, AI is present in all tools, including generative AI and API agents. The productivity was excellent before, and now it can increase by 20 to 30% more with AI implementation.
What needs improvement?
There should be more packages for AutomationEdge regarding low-code automation. RPA is no-code automation, and an RPA developer doesn't need to know Java or Python, they must use the actions packages available.
For AutomationEdge, they should improve Excel automation for macros, particularly for Microsoft 365. Visual Basic functionality needs to be enhanced to handle these features.
AutomationEdge should be improved to match Automation Anywhere's efficiency in handling complex processes.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have three plus years of experience in AutomationEdge.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
I don't have any challenges with the initial setup as the small changes in the market are already handled.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Regarding stability and reliability, AutomationEdge is mid-range. When compared with other tools such as Automation Anywhere and UIPath, they are more stable than AutomationEdge.
How are customer service and support?
I frequently communicate with AutomationEdge technical support. When I raise an issue via email, as there is no contact information available, it takes one to two days to receive a response. As a developer and end user, waiting one to two days for a response is problematic. If the issue remains unresolved, I have to raise it again, which is quite challenging.
I would rate the technical support a three out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before AutomationEdge, we had to hire coder-level experts with Java or Python knowledge. This approach took considerable time and required error handling to automate processes. With this tool, all processes are automatically handled with errors, and no-code automation is available. The cost for a developer is now significantly lower.
Previously, we hired highly efficient developers with high salary packages. The license cost of 5 to 10 lakhs per year for one person to automate is equivalent to a person's annual salary. With the license and a developer hired at 3 to 5 lakhs, we can automate 40 to 50 processes.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
In the market, there are many options such as Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, or UIPath.
What other advice do I have?
I am currently working with the latest version of AutomationEdge.
For attended automation with AutomationEdge, there is an easy UI where end users can schedule the bot. The scheduler allows bot scheduling according to time zones, and the bot performs actions without human intervention. For attended bots, manual execution is possible by clicking on the bot in the UI. Output can be directed to specific folders, whether running on a UI level or server level with Windows server.
I have experience with Automation Anywhere for AI purposes, specifically with API agents. Automatic agent process automation is new to everyone in the market.
AutomationEdge can be set up through server level as an on-premises setup. It's helpful for daily processes, especially Excel operations that can be automated using the Excel packages.
The learning platform at the university level for end users to learn and gain certificates needs improvement, and I would rate it three out of ten. Overall, I rate this product 7 out of 10.
