The best protection against malware, ransomware, and any other forms of malicious software
Pros and Cons
  • "Great protection against malware, ransomware, and any other forms of malicious software."
  • "Occasionally websites are unnecessarily blocked due to monitoring software on those sites."

What is our primary use case?

We provide this solution for anyone from a single user at home wanting to protect their PC, right up to large banking institutions with thousands of users. It's all about protecting computers from malware, ransomware, viruses, and the like. We are in partnership with Bitdefender and we're distributors of the product, functioning as a managed service provider. I'm the managing director of the company.

What is most valuable?

The valuable features are, of course, the protection against malware, ransomware, and any other forms of malicious software, but the solution also provides application and device control which stops people copying things onto a memory stick, for example. In addition, it provides web filtering and blocking of inappropriate websites. The product covers pretty much every aspect of cyber security, but the primary function that everybody gets it for is the antimalware or antivirus protection.

The product is solid, it's why we chose to distribute it, we're very particular about the products we distribute and only take the best, so we don't distribute Symantec or any other AV solutions. It's value for money. There are some competing antiviruses out there which are at least as powerful. Products like Sophos, but they're about three times the price. The cheaper products, such as  ESET NOD32, for instance, are more suitable for individual use. Bitdefender is a user friendly and intuitive solution but we also have a team that provides support for our customers.

What needs improvement?

The only issue an end user might have is in the case where a website has some kind of monitoring software included, where they want to track use, and it might unnecessarily block the site for the user. In that event, the user would contact us and we can 'white list' the site for them enabling them to use it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working with this solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's very stable, it's not going to slow your machine down, it's not going to create instabilities, like programs not working, things like that. We very rarely have issues where a customer has a problem on a PC caused by the antivirus.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The beauty of being in the cloud is that it's completely scalable, and it's completely transparent. You can install it on one machine or on 100,000 machines. We have thousands of users with a single user or two user license, but we also have large organizations with 3,500 or 11,000 users. It's completely scalable, you don't have to change a thing, you just deploy to more machines, and it takes care of everything in the back end.

How are customer service and support?

We carry out all the support on behalf of the company. There are five short, simple videos that explain step by step how to deploy. If somebody wants to do everything themselves and they don't want assistance from us, we simply send them the videos, and it's quite easy. We have online documentation as well, of course.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to use iSheriff and Panda Antivirus but things change in the market, as the threat changes. As a distributor, if we see a product is starting to change focus and move away from an antivirus focus, like Panda did, we let them go. If we are changing products we institute a migration plan for our customers and we carry out the transition for them.

How was the initial setup?

It's extremely simple to deploy. When we receive an order from a customer, we go in and provision everything. We create the packages, we set the default settings, we do everything in the background. It takes approximately 15 minutes. Then the user gets a link where they download the installation, and they run it and click 'next' about three times and the entire installation takes care of itself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Everything is included in the licensing, unless you want to add additional solutions such as Full Disk encryption. It's an additional plugin that can be managed from the same console. We are the only company in South Africa able to provide Bitdefender on a monthly billing basis. With any other company, you'd have to buy it annually. About 50% of our customers are annual, 50% of them are monthly. It means that as your staff increases or your staff decreases, your bill will increase or decrease on a monthly basis.

What other advice do I have?

At the end of the day, it's important to choose a solid product and GravityZone's done that. Once you pass the hurdle of selecting the proper product, it's important to select the right partner who's going to be implementing, and can support you. You can buy a solution online but you get zero support. Buy locally, choose the right partner you know is going to look after you. Don't go to some computer shop in the mall, and go and buy the antivirus, because you're not going to get the support that you require. If it costs 5% more, it's worth it.

I would rate this solution a 10 out of 10.

An easy-to-use product that offers good scalability
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of the solution is that it is easy to use and simple, meaning it's not much complicated."
  • "Bitdefender GravityZone EDR doesn't have an official office in Saudi Arabia, which is important if the vendor wants to gain or be closer to their customers."

What is our primary use case?

I use Bitdefender GravityZone EDR in my company to see if something abnormal is happening on PCs. When a hacker or anyone else is trying to do something on a PC or if they jump from one PC to another area in the IT infrastructure, and the antivirus or the endpoint protection tools cannot detect such activities, then EDR tools can be useful in such scenarios.

When there is a brute force attack or lateral movements within the network, EDR tools can detect it. EDR is very helpful for security operations in SOC. If anything abnormal is happening on a network or in the PC itself, then EDR becomes useful for protection.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution is that it is easy to use and simple, meaning it's not much complicated. The customer is able to read the results and values easily provided by the solution compared to the products from other vendors. Whatever information I am sharing is based on our company's customer feedback.

What needs improvement?

The features in Bitdefender GravityZone EDR are what our company's customers are happy with and actually want. I don't see my company's customers requesting more from Bitdefender GravityZone EDR since they get what they want from the product.

Bitdefender GravityZone EDR doesn't have an official office in Saudi Arabia, which is important if the vendor wants to gain or be closer to their customers. Bitdefender GravityZone EDR needs to have a legal team with technical support, a sales manager to cover the region, a pre-sales representative, a technical account manager, a channel manager, and a good team in Saudi Arabia.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Bitdefender GravityZone EDR for four years. My company has a partnership with Bitdefender GravityZone EDR.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't heard of much downtime when it comes to the product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

My company's clients prefer Bitdefender GravityZone EDR, consisting of mall, medium, and enterprise-sized businesses.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support of Bitdefender GravityZone EDR is the same as Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra since both products belong to the same vendor.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

My company did work with an EDR solution provided by a vendor named CyberArk, and we even did the proof of concept for one of our customers with the same product, but they were not happy with it. As some of the requirements were too much to handle for Cybereason, my company decided to switch to Bitdefender GravityZone EDR. Cybereason's user interface is very well designed. According to my customers, Cybereason's user interface is way too well designed, but it's over the top, making it not so easy to use. My customer found Bitdefender GravityZone EDR easy to use, simple, and easy to learn, especially for junior-level employees.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was easy.

The product's installation deployment phase

The solution is deployed on the cloud and on an on-premises model.

The solution can be deployed in 15 to 20 minutes for small and medium-sized businesses, while it may take a bit more time for enterprise-sized companies.

Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra is a product that requires one license, and people who prefer Bitdefender GravityZone EDR are those who want a bit different solution. The deployment part of Bitdefender GravityZone EDR is the same as Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra.

What was our ROI?

I see a general improvement in the security in my organization from the use of Bitdefender GravityZone EDR.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I rate the product's price a four on a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high.

Bitdefender GravityZone EDR is a competitively priced product.

What other advice do I have?

The user or the admin of Bitdefender GravityZone EDR should always be in touch with the technologies because you don't know when some incidents occur, and you may fail to recognize them. With Bitdefender GravityZone EDR, you have to always keep a watch over it as it is an EDR solution through the security operations center since EDR tools are more for detection than prevention.

Based on the availability of the product in my region, I rate the overall product an eight out of ten.

Straightforward to implement, easy to access and use, and has many features, such as VPN, web filtering, and email filtering
    Pros and Cons
    • "Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra has many features, such as VPN, web filtering, and email filtering. The product has many good reviews, and I like how straightforward it is to implement. It's also easy to access and use."
    • "What would make Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra better is if Bitdefender employed more firewall policies and added even more features to the product."

What is our primary use case?

I work in IT, so I'm an end user and an implementer of Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra for other end users. I'm using the software as an antivirus.

    What is most valuable?

What I like best about Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra is its antivirus feature.

The product has many good reviews, and I like how straightforward it is to implement. It's also easy to access and use.

It is also valuable that Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra has many features, such as VPN, web filtering, and email filtering.

    What needs improvement?

What would make Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra better is if Bitdefender employed more firewall policies and added even more features to the product.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra for three months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra is okay.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra is a scalable product.

How are customer service and support?

I have yet to use Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra support.

    How was the initial setup?

It's super easy to set up Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra. The process takes two to three minutes.

The software was easy to set up because my company is an official partner of Bitdefender. I buy Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra for the end user, and then I set up an account for the end user on the Bitdefender site, download the trial, and then put in the license key, and that's it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra is not that high. It's okay for the service it gives, so I would download it on my personal computer and buy it for myself as a customer.

Apart from the standard licensing fees, there could be extra costs based on the features. Pricing for small businesses and enterprises differs, but another department is responsible for the financial side, so I don't know much about it.

I remembered wanting to sell the Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra family pack but couldn't get the pricing.

What other advice do I have?

I've been working on some projects to find the best solution for different companies to implement suitable firewalls and routers based on various characteristics—for example, applicability, pricing, and functionality. I've been looking into it and saw that a specific product could be better when implemented for a particular industry. For example, it's not worth buying a Palo Alto firewall for a mid-range business when I can integrate Bitdefender or Fortinet.

I'm working with Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra.

I would recommend Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra to others because of its price and features; plus, it's a simple solution, though that's still dependent on your devices and what you want to use it for. The product is okay for personal and mid-range business use, but I'm not sure how it is with large enterprises and government institutions.

I would rate Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra as eight out of ten, but it's not because I have a bad opinion of it. It's because I haven't used it for a long time, and every company has room for improvement, so I'm giving the software the benefit of the doubt.

A solution with endpoint protection and a scalable and easy setup
    Pros and Cons
    • "It was easy to set up."
    • "The product can be improved by identifying errors."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use this solution for endpoint protection.

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is that it works great with machines.

    What needs improvement?

The product can be improved by identifying errors. Sometimes, the product has issues but does not show error messages, and we have to check the console to find the issues. Therefore, it is difficult to identify problems and how they can be solved.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

    It is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

I can't comment on my experience with customer service and support because we have our own local support.

    How was the initial setup?

It was easy to set up and deployment took about 20 minutes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing cost is four euros per month.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution an eight out of ten. It is a usable program that works.

Reliable and expandable but the setup was difficult
    Pros and Cons
    • "It's a very stable solution."
    • "There was a bit of a problem deploying."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is basically for endpoint security and, of course, at the server level.

    What is most valuable?

    It's a very stable solution.

    The product can scale.

    What needs improvement?

There was a bit of a problem deploying. However, that was resolved. As it is now, we are at the stage of deploying it to the end-users.

For how long have I used the solution?

Myself, I’ve been using the solution for three months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn’t crash or freeze. It’s reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution can scale well. It’s expandable.

We have approximately 700 users on the solution.

    How was the initial setup?

We did struggle with the initial setup.

We deployed the solution on and off. However, the deployment took about three days in total. There were some gaps in between going back and forth with things.

We have about 20 technical people on staff that are able to handle deployment and maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Someone else handles the licensing. I can’t speak to the exact pricing.

What other advice do I have?

I'm just also getting acquainted with it as this is a new deployment.

I don't work with it directly myself. However, it is used in my company. I’m an end-user.

This solution is so new that it’s hard for me to recommend it just yet. Once I settle with it, then I'd be in a position to offer more insights into how it works.

I’d rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises

Anti-malware software deployed on all endpoints for security
    Pros and Cons
    • "The most valuable features are the anti-malware and firewall policies. The runtime scans and execution have been beneficial to our business."
    • "The on-premises setup for Bitdefender sometimes faces issues with connectivity. Management of Windows Defender is a bit easier compared to Bitdefender."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for the anti-malware. We intend to replace Bitdefender with Windows Defender gradually. Bitdefender is deployed on all our endpoints.

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the anti-malware and firewall policies. The runtime scans and execution have been beneficial to our business.

    What needs improvement?

Windows Defender is becoming a default component of the Windows operating system. The on-premises setup for Bitdefender sometimes faces issues with connectivity. Management of Windows Defender is a bit easier compared to Bitdefender.

They need to increase their capability to scan cloud services.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    This is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

    This is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

We faced issues in the past with customer support for this solution as we waited a long time for replies to emails.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Positive

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend the cloud version of this solution because it is much more scalable. Bitdefender is a good product but there are other good competitors so it all depends on the use case.

I would rate the on-prem version an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises

What is our primary use case?

I use GravityZone Ultra as an endpoint security solution.

    What needs improvement?

Areas for improvement would be performance and pricing.

    This solution is scalable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

    GravityZone Ultra is stable.

    How was the initial setup?

    The setup was easy.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend GravityZone Ultra to others, and I would rate it seven out of ten.
