Rapid development has accelerated data‑driven web portals and improved user satisfaction
Some of the best features of Adobe ColdFusion in my experience are rapid development capabilities, built-in database connectivity, and seamless integration with the database. Additionally, its scripting language is straightforward and allows me to build and iterate quickly while maintaining solid security features. I rely most on the built-in database connectivity of Adobe ColdFusion because it makes pulling and manipulating data much faster and easier. That is the core of how I structure most of my applications. I really appreciate how Adobe ColdFusion handles built-in caching and session management. That makes a significant difference in performance for my applications. We have reduced the development time by around 25 to 30 percent, and user satisfaction is very high since we can deliver features faster. We have also cut maintenance costs by streamlining workflows. This has been a huge boost for us. The biggest impact of using Adobe ColdFusion was on a customer-facing portal, which we built using its rapid iteration capabilities. We cut the feature release cycle by almost a month. End users have commented that the site is snappier and more responsive, which has improved their daily service experience.

Helpful dashboard, supports offline capabilities for SAP, professional support, and a simple pricing model
I believe that this is the only product in the market that truly supports offline capabilities in an SAP environment. We have people going through all of their shifts without connectivity, yet it automatically later synchronizes well with SAP, without creating extra documents or anything like that. The ability to take ABAP code and automatically convert it to a mobile app and then adjust it to our needs is something that I haven't seen in any other low-code solution on the market, and it has been life-changing for us. I love how easy it is to manage the design of the process using drag and drop. I know they are working to make the developer experience even better, and I'm very excited about it. The modernizer element that converts existing ABAP business logic to the cloud-native mobile-friendly solution is a very powerful tool that I haven't seen in the market.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Apart from providing a mature, reliable, consistent platform, Adobe also offers outstanding customer service and product support."
"Previously, creating an admin panel took us 10 to 15 days, but now we are able to create it in one to two hours, which is very useful for us."
"Adobe ColdFusion reduces development cost, with less boilerplate code compared to Java or .NET, and smaller teams can maintain large systems at lower costs, with strong back-end support for enterprise systems."
"The ability to write SQL queries was very helpful as we did not need to bother our DBAs in writing stored procedures for simple tasks."
"We have reduced the development time by around 25 to 30 percent, and user satisfaction is very high since we can deliver features faster."
"When evaluating the tangible effects of Adobe ColdFusion on our workflow, the major benefit is convenience."
"I believe that developing with ColdFusion saved me about 25% time compared to Java and PHP projects."
"I would like to say that its best feature is its different kinds of connectors. We have lots of in-built connectors."
"Since you only pay for active users, and since it gives you an immediate improvement in efficiencies, the ROI is very quick."
"The ability to take ABAP code and automatically convert it to a mobile app and then adjust it to our needs is something that I haven't seen in any other low-code solution on the market, and it has been life-changing for us."
"I believe that this is the only product in the market that truly supports offline capabilities in an SAP environment."
"I love how they took the MIT Scratch concept and implemented it into the in-app backend. It makes the app creation so much more intuitive and easy to use."

Cons

"Previously when I was trying to create some data, it was very difficult to get real-time data from Workfront."
"There is not much third party authenticators in this solution"
"ColdFusion’s third-party authentication is currently limited to just a couple of companies, like Google and Facebook, and a few third-party SAML authenticators. From my personal perspective, adding LinkedIn and Microsoft would greatly benefit me."
"Another improvement I would like to mention about Adobe ColdFusion is that the tooling for mobile development could be enhanced."
"In terms of improvement, Adobe ColdFusion is already top-tier in terms of runtime engine for large data and document generation, but I suggest reevaluating the licensing model to shift away from perpetual licenses to more flexible consumption-based licensing models, making it a pay-as-you-use system rather than a flat annual server fee."
"Overall, Adobe ColdFusion is a good product, but one area in modernization of the ecosystem can be improved."
"It is a shame that Adobe does not provide ColdFusion Training anymore, but there is a network of Training Partners where you can find basic and advanced ColdFusion training anywhere."
"The solution needs to improve its adaption capability with a third-party company. I want to see more communities or open knowledge resources with the tool."
"The modernizer element should convert a higher percentage of the ABAP code, moving it from approximately 75%, closer to 100%."
"While we're not in a place of letting LOB analysts build apps, at some point, we may want to give them a bit more freedom - as long as we can limit their ability to harm the ERP data. I would like to see more tools pertaining to this area."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If you really want to save money, there is a free open source CFML engine (former Railo, now Lucee) out there."
"The tool's pricing is high but it's totally worth the investment."
"It is a very effective solution and worth the price."
"It is straightforward consumption based on the number of end-users."
