Rapid web delivery has improved productivity and now supports faster multi‑client deployments
Adobe ColdFusion should continue modernization with AI and other new technologies. While plugins already exist, the product needs to stay ahead of the curve in making new development changes and fast bug enhancements with new features. Regarding Adobe ColdFusion's AI capabilities, you don't want to have everything used automatically via AI. You always want to have control and validation. Someone has to review it, press the button, and approve it before deployments take place. Even with the AI feature, you always want that particular transition where someone has to manually do it. AI is good and can reduce so many things, but you want to have a fail-safe mechanism. Regarding Adobe ColdFusion's AI capabilities, the learning curve is significant. It is a new AI capability, but it is not currently 100 percent. I would say it is about 60 to 70 percent. The technology with AI is new, and the product should continue to improve. There are always gaps that need to be addressed.

Low-code platform needs knowledge of coding and best practices to make it work best.
This is not a stable solution. When work has been done on screen A, for example, this has lead to a downfall in screen B. This has occurred even when there appears to be connection between the two. This is mostly happening because developers are not using of are not aware of best practices within platforms. It's like Excel. I can make a lot in Excel, but if my calculations are wrong, it's me that is in the fault, not Excel.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"When evaluating the tangible effects of Adobe ColdFusion on our workflow, the major benefit is convenience."
"I find it to be the easiest server-side technology for website development. It easily integrates with virtually everything– from web APIs to NoSQL databases to RSS and XML services."
"Adobe ColdFusion reduces development cost, with less boilerplate code compared to Java or .NET, and smaller teams can maintain large systems at lower costs, with strong back-end support for enterprise systems."
"The ability to write SQL queries was very helpful as we did not need to bother our DBAs in writing stored procedures for simple tasks."
"Overall, Adobe ColdFusion has been a very reliable and productive platform for us."
"I believe that developing with ColdFusion saved me about 25% time compared to Java and PHP projects."
"Previously, creating an admin panel took us 10 to 15 days, but now we are able to create it in one to two hours, which is very useful for us."
"Adobe ColdFusion improved productivity; when you improve your productivity, you translate that into quicker deployment that saves time and reduces the learning curve, so in real terms, you reduce your deployment time and do not have to spend as much time, meaning productivity is good and you don't waste too much money on costs or have to pay overtime and other expenses, allowing you to reduce those kinds of accelerated costs."
"We use this solution as a customer portal for teachers so they can plan exams for their students. Exams will also be created in the portal in future."

Cons

"It is a shame that Adobe does not provide ColdFusion Training anymore, but there is a network of Training Partners where you can find basic and advanced ColdFusion training anywhere."
"Another improvement I would like to mention about Adobe ColdFusion is that the tooling for mobile development could be enhanced."
"There is not much third party authenticators in this solution"
"As a small type of business, I think Adobe ColdFusion is more suited for high-level business time models."
"Regarding Adobe ColdFusion's AI capabilities, the learning curve is significant."
"Overall, Adobe ColdFusion is a good product, but one area in modernization of the ecosystem can be improved."
"Adobe ColdFusion can be improved if there was an AI feature integrated through prompt engineering, which would be very helpful, though I have not checked for that in an updated version."
"Adobe ColdFusion can be improved by modernizing the development experience, enhancing performance for large-scale applications, and providing more built-in integrations and modern cloud services."
"This solution could be more user-friendly and involve less code. It requires a lot of SQL knowledge and programming. It is not a drag and drop solution."
"This solution is difficult to scale. We found it challenging to ensure that many more users could use the system without any trouble."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If you really want to save money, there is a free open source CFML engine (former Railo, now Lucee) out there."
"It is a very effective solution and worth the price."
"The tool's pricing is high but it's totally worth the investment."
