Manage complex traffic routing with ease and ensure system availability
The ELB would benefit from allowing deployment in a single availability zone for test servers to avoid unnecessary costs. Additionally, the ability to directly block specific IP addresses without additional service integration would be beneficial. Furthermore, sometimes ALB has a delay in recognizing the need to scale the system based on CloudWatch metrics, which could use improvement.

Inherited deployment tool has required clunky iPad rollouts but has automated remote updates
I do appreciate the best features that Ivanti Virtual Application Delivery Controller (vADC) offers. One feature that stands out to me as useful is that it applies some application firewall for security, which I found valuable. Ivanti Virtual Application Delivery Controller (vADC) has impacted my organization positively as it is more of a necessity, not just because we do have all of our iPads in Ivanti MDM, but to be able to deploy properly. It certainly does save time and resources compared to doing things manually because 90% of our mobile devices are all remote and in the field, and our endpoint users are technically challenged; therefore, trying to get anyone to update or be able to do anything actually on their iPad outside of using an application would be near impossible.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is known for its scalability and stability."
"The network load balancer is really fast."
"The best part about ALB is its ability to connect with different services including EC2, ECS, API Gateway, or Lambda functions, offering a lot of benefits like attaching a WAF."
"I recommend the AWS network load balancer for high-traffic web applications due to its speed and control over configuration settings, which allows handling low-level details efficiently."
"Availability is one of the main benefits that Amazon Elastic Load Balancing provides to my company."
"Customer support is good."
"Amazon Elastic Load Balancing has shown great performance and efficiency, especially in high-traffic e-commerce applications during sales times."
"It has very good features, it is very configurable, security with TLS, et cetera is also very easy, it is good performance-wise, and the logging mechanism is also very good because we get the VPC log whenever a request comes so we can easily find out where the request is coming from."
"Ivanti Virtual Application Delivery Controller (vADC) is a very good tool that companies should use, as it is very reliable, very fast, and allows you more time to work on other cases because Ivanti handles everything smoothly."
"The strict security features of Ivanti Virtual Application Delivery Controller (vADC) stand out for me because essentially, you can have the hashing of all the programs that you can launch, the signature to check, the very deep analysis of the project, and the very deep log that helps you develop and analyze security."
"Ivanti Virtual Application Delivery Controller (vADC) has impacted my organization positively as it is more of a necessity, not just because we do have all of our iPads in Ivanti MDM, but to be able to deploy properly."

Cons

"Improvement is needed in the integration with Terraform, especially in writing scripts for creating load balancers and target groups."
"We faced some issues with the health check."
"The machines created by Amazon Elastic Load Balancing have different IP addresses, which we are not able to whitelist or predict."
"The routing policies and waiting policies could be improved for better performance."
"The product's stability is an area with a slight shortcoming, which can be improved."
"They charge for technical support depending on the support model required."
"Sometimes the target group takes too much time to configure or to be seen on the internet, especially when configuring through ISV tools."
"The tool could enhance the internal load balancer with better health monitoring. The external load balancer needs more security parameters to protect it from the internet, as it currently lacks protection. It's okay for basic load balancing and those looking for basic functionality in an application load balancer. However, if someone is going to onboard a critical application, like in the banking sector, I wouldn't suggest Amazon Elastic Load Balancer because of security issues. There are no firewall restrictions."
"I chose eight out of ten for Ivanti Virtual Application Delivery Controller (vADC) because from the point of view of the configuration, it took so much time on the security side to configure."
"To improve Ivanti Virtual Application Delivery Controller (vADC), I would suggest integrating something to fix the registry of a server, as including any steps that fix the registry or any DLL files causing issues where patches did not install properly would be beneficial."
"Customer support for Ivanti Virtual Application Delivery Controller (vADC) has been very lacking, which is one of my biggest issues because we have had not great experiences with their customer support over time."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost for using the application load balancer is approximately $18 to $21 per month."
"The solution's pricing is low and I rate it a nine out of ten."
"The solution's pricing is $30 per month."
"The solution is expensive."
"I have no issues with the tool's pricing."
"The licensing fees are based on the number of connections one uses. It is a free tool for a certain amount of connections, which runs into thousands, and after that, there is a certain amount to be paid to Amazon."
"The product is not cheap."
"There is a yearly license."
