Interactive dashboards have supported cloud analytics and now drive deeper data exploration
I don't want to hypothetically say about the effectiveness of Amazon QuickSight in terms of machine learning, so I need to pass on that. At the moment, on the cloud perspective, we have Amazon major, but we do have hybrid models. On the analytics side, we are migrating into Amazon QuickSight. One of the products is already migrating, and the rest is in the pipeline. As of now, we haven't picked it up. I don't want to say very positive at the moment about the pricing of Amazon QuickSight because my initial understanding is that it's not an easy one to adapt, but the choices are there. The reason I'm saying this is that there are two different models. Since we are partnered with Amazon and many of the other products and services we are engaging, we have an overall agreement involving this type of product. That way we are getting a benefit on that rather than an individual product. I have to pass on how much time my team spent on the deployment of Amazon QuickSight because I'm not very sure. I haven't been involved in the deployment and rollout.

This software is targeted at executive users, not the data analysts who want to slice and dice. The software will not replace your BI tools, but it will sit nicely on top of a BI tool if you want management to have quick and easy access to performance data. Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Efficiency has definitely improved, and the speed of developing analytics and insights has increased by at least twenty percent."
"QuickSight makes it easy to provision, create, and publish dashboards."
"The query and dashboard capabilities are entirely good."
"Regarding the pricing model of Amazon QuickSight, I would say the solution is affordable in general in comparison to some of the other tools, for example, Tableau and Qlik."
"The solution is very quick to turn around and integrate."
"Amazon QuickSight can provide insights from the available data. It supports various rule types. We get the options of machine learning and insights, which are not available in other intelligence tools. It is easier to use, more stable, and cheaper than other solutions."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the user interface."
"The ease with which it integrates with different data sources is most valuable. Especially when everything is on AWS, it is easy to connect to the data source and organize different dashboards."
"It is a comprehensive solution for performance management, and yet it is easy to setup and easy to use, especially in comparison with Oracle, SAS, Hyperion and SAP."

Cons

"The number of features in the product is limited in comparison with the other tools in the market, like Power BI."
"Right now, you can't use Amazon QuickSight on other cloud providers, so I'd like it to have availability on other cloud providers. This is an area for improvement in the product. What I'd like to see in Amazon QuickSight in the future is a distributed centralized system where I can manage all reports in one place, and for Amazon QuickSight to become reporting as a service."
"I would like to see a feature that allows us to save a draft version before making it public and publishing it."
"The setup process falls somewhere in the middle. It is not straightforward, nor is it complex, but there is a significant amount of work needed on the back end to make it function."
"Currently, auto-reporting is limited to some 30 times a day. As it is, if you want to set a data set to get it refreshed every half an hour, you cannot achieve it."
"There is room for improvement in terms of the number of visualizations and dashboards that are available."
"You can't tell a data story as well in QuickSight as you can on others, especially in TIBCO Spotfire."
"There could be an end-to-end pipeline for data cleaning as well as presenting it using different visualizations."
"It needs to have better quality built in reports."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"A highly affordable cost structure with fixed membership and timeframe basis options."
"I'm using a paid version of Amazon QuickSight, paying about $22 monthly. As I have yet to learn about the pricing for other tools, such as Power BI, I won't be able to compare."
"The solution's pricing is cheaper than the other products in the market."
"I wouldn't say that it is an expensive product, but to stay competitive they would need to bring down the prices."
"The pricing is cost-effective with a good plan."
"The solution is not affordable."
"It is simpler and cheaper than other solutions."
"I rate the price of Amazon QuickSight a four on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."
