Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Leading-edge NLP capabilities, efficient training of machine learning models, and the automation saves us significant time
The machine learning capability is good. The algorithm helps us to get the right data with less training effort. The technology seems to be a little bit ahead of the standard NLP software. They use more pattern recognition, rather than basing everything on reading static text. The problem with relying on an unchanging text is that it can depend on things such as the formatting, and where things appear within a document. This solution can process complex formats, which is helpful for us because we get a lot of PDFs and they come in many different formats. As an example, a carrier might include a list of their rates in a table, whereas a different carrier will write their rates into a paragraph, and yet another will put them into some sort of graphic. If you only capture text then you will only capture part of that data. Pattern recognition ultimately helps us to circumvent the problems in dealing with format variability in documents and allows us to capture the right data. When it comes to predicting what it is that a document needs manual intervention, CMR Plus does it pretty well. They have a QA cycle that is usually able to highlight such data. The content recognition ability, in terms of giving us only the data that we need and nothing else, is pretty good. It has a positive effect on our efficiency and by extension, it impacts our infrastructure costs.

Significantly reduces manual effort and improves team workflows through automated ticketing
We've used Agent Builder, IXP, and Maestro for orchestration. We have created context-grounded searches or chatbots using context grounding, and we also use context grounding within an Agentic flow where a bot or agent reads ServiceNow tickets to determine whether it has been assigned to the right work group. If it has not been assigned correctly due to human error, it automatically reassigns it to the right group. I would assess Agentic AI's ability to extract data points as effective. We created an agent for the purpose of extracting data, though not in a document. We created what we call an email conversation agent that engages with a customer, vendor, or someone in an email conversation with a set goal of extracting specific data points for an action to be performed subsequently. The one automation we have deployed in production involves the agent interacting with team members to collect data points and create a ServiceNow ticket. We appreciate almost all features of UiPath Platform, with one of the most successful ones being the use of Coms Mining. Most of the new features related to AI have all been good, and we use Agentic. We have already created a few agents and have started to use Maestro for a few flows, though we are not yet there to orchestrate an end-to-end workflow. We have good ROI from the automations we have developed with UiPath Platform, which far exceeds the investment in the platform. It has saved us tens of thousands of hours in manual effort, making the team members happy to pursue other things of value.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Automation Anywhere has transformed the financial, healthcare, and automobile sectors to a great extent by automating backend office work."
"The most valuable feature is the Excel operations because the most repetitive task which we used to do was Excel operations, and Automation Anywhere has the Excel commands feature where we can run Excel Macros, which is very valuable and is saving so much time for us."
"The company continues with research and development to expand the capabilities of the product to meet market needs."
"Automation Anywhere has presented us with a platform that is easily accessible from a web interface, enabling us to write code for RPA scripts without having to download a dedicated software application."
"Because it reduced the time duration of our processes, our costs went down."
"At the most granular level, automating people's daily tasks has been helpful by freeing them up to do higher value-add activities, which is definitely beneficial."
"I think most of the keystroke level activities that users used to do in probably the last five years is now taken care completely by Automation Anywhere and similar RPA providers."
"It's very easy for business users to learn Automation Anywhere."
"The automation provided by this solution has saved us a lot of time."
"Pattern recognition ultimately helps us to circumvent the problems in dealing with format variability in documents and allows us to capture the right data."
"This product has helped to boost our overall efficiency and performance, giving us the ability to automate many manual tasks and collect the right data for our analytics so we can serve our clients more effectively."
"Our consultants have been able to go through the training videos and pick up the ability to build their own automations."
"We have found UiPath to be more reliable, easier to use, more stable, and 100% accurate while performing actions on any element or running automation anytime."
"UiPath has the simplest low-code user interface that I've seen in my professional life."
"The software, in general, is very well done, as there are many add-ins for different use cases/environments to implement robots."
"The Studio is a valuable feature because it allows us to automate processes independently."
"The user community is definitely useful."
"The most valuable feature is image processing. It's something I use daily when I need to do some work on a VM remotely. Image processing enables me to locate the connectors and click to perform my job or task."
"One thing that we love about UiPath is that the pricing is very good. While we are developing, they have a free option. The Pro option is for just $420. Once we go live, we do not mind paying, so the price point is very good."

Cons

"In high-availability, we have two Control Rooms acting as a cluster so if one fails the other one will take over. But that's not our environment operationally, and the latest information we have is that they identified another product bug."
"I would like to see a lot around API integration going forward, like the ability for other systems to talk to the AI better by opening it up. I would like to see more chatbots or anything in the journey of making it truly immersive for human workers working with these bots."
"At some places, the if-else statements become so confusing so, at that place, they can change the UI for better understanding. Apart from this I liked this tool and would like to continue working on this."
"I would like to have a bot as a service platform on AA Cloud. This would minimize the installation process, and we wouldn't need to have all the hardware to support the platform in-house."
"Companies need to better justify the ROI before usage - otherwise, they might spend money on things unnecessarily."
"The conversion time of invoices to JSON File should take less time using AA2019 IQBot, the report file creation feature should be added into IQ Bot A2019."
"Automation Anywhere's current requirement for upfront annual payments limits flexibility for customers."
"It would be great if they provide installation documents that are easier to understand, place more focus on capturing the fields, and most importantly, concentrate more on the OCR capability."
"We would like to see the overall accuracy increase from approximately 70% to perhaps 85%."
"It would be very helpful to have a simple and extensive training guide, or training model, to help learn how to work with the product."
"One of the downsides of Automation Cloud, and this is more an issue related to the Community version, is that they always place the newest features on the Community version."
"One of the products where I would definitely see a need for improvement would be a Task Capture."
"When you update to a new version, sometimes opening previous versions solutions become difficult. The packages between versions become incompatible, and when you install a package from another version, the previous one is not removed, causing a startup error."
"The licensing is a headache. Luckily, I don't have to deal with it directly."
"The community can be increased and enhanced. That way, if we are facing an issue and need an easy solution, we can then use the community."
"In the training, between steps two and three, there is a pretty big leap in terms of how difficult the material is."
"We have had issues with Ingram Micro. It happened that we ordered licenses and we received something else. It takes a relatively long time, two and sometimes even three weeks, after the order until we receive licenses, and clients are sometimes a little bit impatient. This is something that should be accelerated."
"The initial setup was not straightforward. With some of the technical infrastructure that we deployed in 2017, we were an early adopter, so there wasn't a lot of product experience. We made a lot of mistakes with it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Automation Anywhere's pricing falls within the mid-range, but the long-term benefits outweigh the initial investment."
"We have seen ROI on one of the process, but not on the other processes yet."
"The pricing is reasonable and one can achieve ROI faster when compared to other tools."
"It is reasonable, but it can always be a little bit cheaper."
"Automation Anywhere pricing and licensing are competitive compared to the other automation vendors."
"If we count the integrations that we have done with Appian, which is where a lot of our savings is from, we are well over a million dollars in savings. This is from only doing development for about a year and a half."
"It is the most economically friendly and it provides you with a lot of functions."
"Including the AWS setup and everything per license, it costs us around $10,000 on an annual basis. I believe that is pretty reasonable considering the teams that we have."
"The pricing is really good, and it's based on usage."
"UiPath is starting to price itself out of the market. It's getting expensive. That's fine if they continue to push the envelope of what they offer, but it's all about perception. And the perception over the last two years with my customers is that it's expensive."
"Traditionally, Automation Anywhere and Blue Prism are the biggest things competing against UiPath. Those are usually what most of the clients lean towards, if they see a cheaper licensing option. Clients choose UiPath because it's easier to deploy and learn within their teams."
"UiPath is reasonably priced for being a leader in the market."
"UiPath solutions fit European and American clients, but especially for medium- and small-sized businesses in India, the cost may be the one factor that constrains customers. That's especially true when it comes to AI and ML solutions."
"Over and above the subscription fees, we're paying probably $51,000 a year right now."
"The price of UiPath is not too expensive or too cheap. It's in between."
"UiPath's pricing is expensive but reasonable for the quality of service that it provides."
"I'd love to see UiPath's pricing align better with the product maturity life cycle. UiPath's licensing model drives the cost up rapidly, whereas their competition has been cutting prices and bundling more. It's hard to stick with the technology when they're significantly more expensive. This segment is being flooded with new products."
