Network Emulation allows for performance testing of geographically-distributed users.
It is a great performance testing tool. The most valuable feature of the tool is its Avatar technology. Scripting is really fast, compared to other tools. It works for almost all major protocols, platforms and browsers. It makes complex scenarios simple, and we need minimal custom coding. It also provides features for Network Emulation, which is quite helpful in testing the performance for geographically-distributed users. Appvance can provide information from end to end (back-end and front-end), which makes it surpass other tools. The tool provides protocol level as well as browser level response time. And it can be integrated with major monitoring tools. As it is a web-based tool, it makes it easy to access anywhere anytime. All the team members can access the common information easily.

Centralized cloud testing has improved global load generation and real-time performance insights
The most valuable features I have found in OpenText Core Performance Engineering (LoadRunner Cloud) are that everything is online and centralized, so I do not need to go anywhere to check the configuration and everything. OpenText Core Performance Engineering (LoadRunner Cloud)'s advanced analytics help identify performance bottlenecks because whenever we are executing the test scripts, it shows a good analytics view where we can simply check which APIs are not performing well. The cloud-based load generators in OpenText Core Performance Engineering (LoadRunner Cloud) have benefited my testing setup because we can generate the load across the globe, which was previously a little bit difficult on the on-premises version. The user interface in OpenText Core Performance Engineering (LoadRunner Cloud) is intuitive and this will be easy to communicate and collaborate amongst the team also because sharing the online URL with the team, they can simply check the analysis and everything.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a great performance testing tool."
"It is feature-rich. It supports most protocols, which is important because I am in charge of a team at the bank, and we do performance testing for all kinds of different applications. We have tons of them. We even do video streams."
"JMeter script integration is a good approach provided by HPE, as scripts developed in an open source tool like JMeter can be uploaded and used directly with StormRunner based on the protocol license, saving time otherwise spent on creating new scripts."
"Keeping up with DevOps, thus the best feature of StormRunner is that we don't have to build and maintain infrastructure anymore."
"Before LoadRunner, we weren't even testing performance and now we're performance testing."
"The massive cloud scalability and fast design of OpenText Core Performance Engineering (LoadRunner Cloud) have helped me optimize performance, identify performance bottlenecks in my application, generate the traffic, and recognize performance reliability issues in my application."
"I rate OpenText LoadRunner Cloud ten out of ten."
"The product supports a wide variety of technology compared to any other tool."
"Before StormRunner Load, we didn’t have a clear developer roadmap, and now it’s very clear where we should invest, our weakest links, and what we need to do to strengthen weak links."

Cons

"Reporting features can be improved to provide more flexibility, collation, exporting in different formats, etc."
"This vendor, Micro Focus, is not very good at technical support."
"An area for improvement is analytics on why response times are slow from certain countries."
"The monitoring abilities were lacking."
"When you start a test, it takes times to initiate."
"Monitoring and sample access to servers needs to be provided, so that we can explore this and keep up-to-date."
"During the initial days of high concurrency testing (300,000 and 600,000) we had issues with the StormRunner infrastructure e.g. graphs disappeared in the middle of a test, and HP had to give an online fix."
"Custom load patterns for the performance tests: Currently StormRunner Load supports only linear ramp up of the user load and doesn’t provide the user load to follow a step incremental load pattern or any other pattern that a performance tester wants to."
"The support team provides delayed responses."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The pricing is very reasonable and the licensing is straightforward."
"The solution is expensive."
"The pricing for OpenText LoadRunner Cloud is average."
"It is neither costly nor cheap. It is not too high and not too low. I know the price of other tools, and LoadRunner Cloud's price is in the medium range."
"It is expensive compared to other tools."
"Pricing is dependent on what you're referring to. If you're talking about the cloud, it's likely competitive. However, if you're talking about the on-premise version, professional or enterprise licenses are required. Prices are on the high side. They are not cheap."
"The solution’s price is considerably high."
"We make use of virtual user hours. We buy time in the LoadRunner Cloud. It costs around $80,000."
