Enhances our security incident investigation but not good for correlation
Investigation is good when you know what you want to search for in Logger. The most difficult part is parsing the logs and configuring the parsers. For investigation, it's good. For correlation, it's not good. We use Sentinel, and Sentinel has pre-built use cases that are much easier to configure. So, it enhances our security incident investigation. We have inbound integration, but configuring the parsers is sometimes very difficult. We only have two use cases where we have a correlation set up. We send the information to Check Point to block IP addresses when we see a lot of blocks from the same source. We have a trigger. So, Logger automatically blocks these IP addresses. We could have Logger put them on a blacklist. So, it offers the ease of integration.

Real-time incident detection and user-friendly dashboard benefit daily operations
There are many types of AI, and this AI is very limited in SQL and features. There may be potential for improvement. So far, it seems very limited. It shows some good features in the correlation part, but I think there is room for improvement. For instance, when creating rules, it can suggest more rules, reducing the effort needed. If AI-related support can suggest rules and integrate with existing security devices like MD, IPS, this SIM can create more relevant rules. Sometimes logs I receive don't mean anything, and I need technical stakeholders to share or forward logs, but these are sometimes inadequate. Keywords can help identify insufficient logs. I often lack time to verify logs. Sharing false positive results could be reduced to help my team.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's a brilliant log collection tool, and it can handle hundreds of thousands of servers in a single shot to ingest the data."
"ArcSight provides the basic information that we want."
"We have a trigger. So, Logger automatically blocks these IP addresses. We could have Logger put them on a blacklist."
"Our return on investment for implementing ArcSight Logger over the past 12 months has been positive."
"It's an efficient solution."
"I am impressed with the product's ability to pick up logs. It also has UEBA which has reduced the time to take charge of the events."
"The log digestion features from threat intelligence platforms like Recorded Future or Talos are valuable."
"The machine learning is a good feature."
"The tool helps with infrastructure, application, and network monitoring."
"The monitoring and dashboards are great."
"The threat protection network is the most valuable feature, because when you get an offense, you can actually trace it back to where it originated from, how it originated, and why."
"I think the QDI is very good."
"IBM QRadar Advisor with Watson is a stable solution."
"No doubt about it, the solution is extremely stable."
"The solution is easy to use, manage, and review all incidents."
"Overall a great solution."

Cons

"I would like to see better scheduling in the next release of this solution."
"It would be better if the product is cheaper."
"The solution could be improved in maintenance settings."
"We have had problems with archiving."
"ArcSight has been sold two or three times, and the quality has decreased."
"The initial setup was a little bit complex."
"Using the ArcSight Logger dashboard is not particularly intuitive or efficient, so it is important to be trained in its use."
"The solution must provide readymade connectors for different applications."
"IBM Qradar could improve the reporting. The tool is not designed to report. It's a great operational monitoring tool. You put it on a screen and you watch it. If you want to have analytics out of it, that's a whole different story. You're going to need more people and tools. What should be added is reporting and integration into Power BI, into some capability that produces analytical reports from the source data. IBM does not seem to care to add these features."
"I would also like to see more integration with other vendors. IBM doesn't integrate well with products from China, like Huawei. Many Middle Eastern customers are switching to Huawei from American vendors like Cisco because of the price. In most RFPs, Huawei wins because it costs less."
"There needs to be better integration with other applications."
"Integration could be better. They should make it easy to integrate with other solutions."
"Each module requires a separate license and a separate cost."
"The dashboard and reports are not user-friendly or efficient so are of little help with threat hunting activity."
"The user interface is a bit clunky, a bit hard to find what you need."
"Some UI enhancements would be nice, such as exporting custom event properties and the ability to export rules."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's not cheap at all as it's a big product and has been in the market for quite some time now."
"The pricing is quite harsh."
"We have a lifetime license, so we don't pay a monthly fee."
"ArcSight is an expensive solution."
"I would rate the product a seven out of ten since it's an enterprise product."
"Pricing is reasonable compared to similar tools on the market. They offer perpetual licenses."
"ArcSight Logger is very expensive compared to their competitors, but when we talk to the customer and explain what the features are and how we can scale, they understand. Still, ArcSight is more expensive than the competition."
"I rate the product’s pricing a seven out of ten, where one is inexpensive, and ten is expensive."
"There is a license required for this solution."
"It is costlier as compared to the other alternatives available in the market."
"Its price is good in terms of efficiency and the number of people required for implementing various things. You might pay more in terms of money, but you might save on the number of people. For example, if you are using Kibana, you have to pay more for people or experts, which is not the case with IBM QRadar."
"I feel that the price is reasonable but compared to other products that are on the market, such as an offering by Microsoft, it is more expensive."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate IBM Security QRadar's pricing a five out of ten."
"It could be cheaper, but the value itself is far more important for us than the price. Typically, our clients have yearly subscriptions."
"IBM has subscriptions plans that run for one year."
"There is an annual license required for this solution."

What are the biggest differences between Securonix UEBA, Exabeam, and IBM QRadar?
It mostly depends on your use-cases and environment. Exabeam and Securonix have a stronger UEBA feature set, friendlier GUI and are not licensed based on capacity (amount of logs and information in...
What SOC product do you recommend?
For tools I’d recommend: -SIEM- LogRhythm -SOAR- Palo Alto XSOAR Doing commercial w/o both (or at least an XDR) is asking to miss details that are critical, and ending up a statistic. Also, rememb...
