Has improved process modeling and analysis while supporting integration with organizational data
The process design in ARIS BPA does help with our operational efficiency. What we are doing is object library management for various kinds of objects that we are using in ARIS BPA during our process modeling. We are using that to do a lot of analysis on how many times a system is being used in how many processes, who are the major stakeholders, and if we enhance one system, how is it going to impact other processes and integrated processes. This is helping us a lot. Everything related to ARIS BPA is helping us with regards to enhanced processes, strengthened controls, identifying risks, assessing process capabilities, and identifying where the gaps are and what kinds of activities within the processes are automated and manual. We are doing a lot of things with regards to the processes as it is at our heart. Processes are one thing and then we have different kinds of things which are related to it, such as SLAs, guidelines, and policy. We are identifying areas of improvement in other documents as well.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Procedurally and architecturally improved analysis across the board."
"The most valuable feature is that you can relate different aspects of an organization to each other, and you can clearly define the rates seen in the application."
"The most valuable feature is the process documentation. For us, ARIS is a lifestyle more than a tool. It helps us learn how to think and how to plan for our system."
"The most valuable feature in the latest versions is the connect portal, where you can do modeling in a very simple manner using the web-based portal."
"Competition has increased in the last few years and there are now clones of ARIS on the market but they don't go as deep as ARIS, so the ARIS product is still far ahead."
"I like everything about ARIS BPA. I've used it for a long time and it's a fantastic tool. There is a list of things ARIS has that other solutions do not have."
"ARIS is very user-friendly compared to other BPM tools that I have used."
"ARIS BPM has helped us speed up our business process transformation by centralizing everything instead of everyone working within a silo."
"Processes become clearer, easier to understand, and easier to spot in development areas."
"We had great service directly from QPR."
"It makes communication easier due to transparency on processes."

Cons

"When it looks like your ten-year-old has done something to present in grammar school, it is not the right thing to be showing at a high-level meeting."
"Price User interface (UI)"
"One issue related to ARIS BPA is its integration with AI; it has AI features for cloud solutions, yet many in the government sector in Kuwait do not view the cloud as viable."
"While the dashboarding solution for integrating all kinds of process-related information from company sources other than ARIS is getting ever better, my personal wish would be to have a module that is more targeted to an Agile implementation of some modeled processes (model–to-execute)."
"The data in the pipeline could be managed better. Sometimes previously-used data would be reflected in present variables."
"Since ARIS 9.X was released, the product has not been as robust and responsive as the previous versions."
"ARIS BPA needs to be more accurate when generating documents."
"Their license model is really difficult to understand, and licenses are quite expensive."
"There is definitely a need to produce models in XML. There is already something available, but it seems that transferring between the different modelling tools is difficult."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The setup cost and pricing depend on the license (Modeler, Viewer, Administrator)."
"Their license model is really difficult to understand, and licenses are quite expensive."
"The product is inexpensive."
"From my point of view, no, it is not cheap, but it is not too expensive because you get this big organization behind it, technical support, and all those things. It's not so expensive to use. It's a Rolls Royce in this field, I know that. Even for small organizations, they can get so much effect from using this tool, in a very fast way, so the money will be back in the customer's pocket very fast."
"It depends on different parameters."
"The product is a bit pricey."
"It is well worth the investment in the enterprise."
"It is an expensive solution."
