Backup management excels with user-friendly interface and effective deduplication, offering robust data protection
Leveraging AI in Veritas NetBackup Appliance is one of the road maps now that they have done a collaboration with Cohesity, which is a feature I'm looking forward to. Using AI is one improvement I recommend for the Veritas NetBackup Appliance. They have implemented some aspects of AI for features such as malware detection and anomaly detection. I believe they can do more to give customers more insight into their data, allowing them to see it and understand what they can do, such as archiving old data. They can do more by utilizing the data effectively to provide insights to customers about their space usage, future projections, and options for managing old data.

"The solution is useful for backups."
"I have no stability issues to report...The initial setup is quite simple."
"The benefits I have observed from working with Veritas NetBackup Appliance include the throughput of the appliance, starting from 2 to 50 terabytes per hour, which compares favorably with other competitors' products in this competitive domain."
"The Oracle Agent and Oracle RAC support are valuable features; they are crucial for taking backups and cloning applications."
"I can confidently say that I have managed more than 30 or 50 appliances over different time periods, and yet I never had a single hardware failure."
"There are a lot of new features that operate to protect the data from ransomware attacks. They launched the Veritas/Appliances to protect our data. Veritas has been doing its job well."
"I think the solution is very intuitive, effective, and easy to use."
"The encryption feature is very good, the product itself and the new features are excellent, and it is pretty user-friendly compared to other software and very easy to deploy."

Cons

"They should improve the malware scanning capabilities, extending it to protect cloud application data."
"The management could be a bit better."
"The only drawback for NetBackup, and of course for Veritas, is that they have stuck to the same environment and to the same UI - User Interface. This needs to be improved in future releases. It needs to be more dynamic."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance can improve by having a more direct connection to the cloud. It should have the technology to be able to directly communicate with the cloud."
"The solution could improve by providing more integration and security."
"It's hard to get to the backups. There are too many tabs."
"The only room for improvement is that the cost per terabyte is extremely high."
"The graphic interface is complex, especially on the management and administrative side, requiring multiple steps for configuration instead of simple clicks in the console."
"The desirability of appliance solutions is dwindling in the marketplace."
"In terms of implementing the solution, it's quite technical. You need to be knowledgable in order to pull off a successful deployment."

"The licenses are purchased on appliances with the capacity they require."
"I cannot say whether our licensing costs are on a monthly or annual basis, as we have a global contract."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance is priced well compared to other solutions."
