Plenty of useful feature and reliable
We use Asigra for backups I have found all the features useful in the solution. I have been using Asigra for approximately two months. The solution is stable. The six people in our IT department are using the solution. The initial setup was a medium difficulty level. Some parts were complex…

Enhanced data retention and recovery with robust backup features
The Oracle Agent and Oracle RAC support are valuable features; they are crucial for taking backups and cloning applications. NetBackup Appliance has many features. Backup Exec is a great product as well. NetBackup is well-developed with strong features, including deduplication technology, which allows us to retain backups for longer periods—exceeding our expectations by keeping backups for almost a month. It's effective for data recovery and capable of handling large-scale data recoveries. It is very stable and keeps applications secure. However, the AI integration is not yet tested.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The agentless architecture has minimized our software footprint at the client level."
"The solution has been very stable."
"I have found all the features useful in the solution."
"It has helped us to provide comprehensive data protection with high recovery rates and a malware scanning feature."
"The encryption feature is very good, the product itself and the new features are excellent, and it is pretty user-friendly compared to other software and very easy to deploy."
"The customer service and support are excellent."
"The utilization of Data Domain is crucial because of its integration with a key Veritas feature: retention lock. This feature ensures data integrity by preventing any alterations to stored data. When NetBackup interacts with Data Domain, enabling the retention lock feature ensures that neither administrators nor backup personnel can modify data stored within the system. This functionality is vital for compliance purposes and meets the requirements of auditors."
"Compared to a homemade installation, this appliance is very stable."
"The tool's most valuable feature is recovery."
"They are a large company with good best practices, and they give good support."
"We mainly use Windows for all our operating systems. Our databases are SQL databases. For backups, we set up one master server and three process servers. Our company isn't big, so this setup works well for us. We install the Veritas NetBackup Appliance agent on all the systems that need to be backed up."
"The initial setup gets easier the more you do it."

Cons

"The management could be a bit better."
"They should improve the malware scanning capabilities, extending it to protect cloud application data."
"The NetBackup software is based on Red Hat Linux, but we should have multiple software options for that. We should have more OS options. Also, there are too many tools and intermediaries. Everything should be built into an all-in-one solution."
"The only room for improvement is that the cost per terabyte is extremely high."
"The price is slightly expensive for small and medium enterprises. If they can review the prices, we feel it would be beneficial, especially for the African market."
"They could simplify the process of installing, and provide more space for data during the process."
"The price needs to be improved because it is really expensive."
"The scalability isn't great. Every time you want to add storage, you can't just add a little bit, you need to add a lot."
"The challenge arose due to a space issue. The issue was related to disk breaks, especially when power cuts occurred. One of the disks would break, leading to a loss of functionality."
"The response from the support team has not always been quick, so sometimes there is a risk."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Asigra could improve, it is expensive. We have purchased an annual license."
"Asigra is priced competitively, but requires technical expertise to operate, optimize, and maintain its services."
"It costs more to license support for this solution, compared to others."
"I rate the solution's pricing a nine out of ten."
"Appliances do not come cheaply."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a high price and ten is a low price, I rate the pricing a nine."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance is priced well compared to other solutions."
"We pay annually. It is a huge figure for us."
"There is a license needed to use Veritas NetBackup Appliance and there are not any additional fees."
"The price of Veritas NetBackup Appliance is competitive. There are different models of Veritas NetBackup Appliance, such as perpetual licenses and subscriptions. Having the choice is good."
