Plenty of useful feature and reliable
We use Asigra for backups I have found all the features useful in the solution. I have been using Asigra for approximately two months. The solution is stable. The six people in our IT department are using the solution. The initial setup was a medium difficulty level. Some parts were complex…

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Since we have implemented Asigra we don’t have an administrator to do manual backup to tapes and external HDD; everything is automated and there are no hassles for the administrator."
"The agentless architecture has minimized our software footprint at the client level."
"Asigra's client-less approach is one of the best in the industry."
"Smooth integration into customer's environment, interactive UI."
"Asigra’s multi-tenancy feature is most valuable as it allows the company to on-sell a private cloud backup and recovery solution to existing customers."
"I am personally a fan of Exchange email level and MS SQL db level backups."
"Cloud backup is easier to manage and administer than our previous tape solution."
"Simplicity, very easy to restore user data, means that we don't have to request off site tapes to be delivered to the office, can easily access the cloud data and restore most data within minutes."
"Veeam Data Platform is valuable for its stability and the ability to easily contact support for assistance."
"Backup and recovery windows have been significantly improved."
"Don’t waste your money on Symantec or other tools; buy a license once for Veeam as it's a lifetime one and the support license can be renewed, as required, on a yearly basis."
"This product has more than made up for the initial costs of licensing, hardware and support."
"The best feature of Veeam ONE to me is the infrastructure analysis that you can perform before deploying a backup environment. You can put in your backup requirements, for example, repository files and improvements on your VMware side, to ensure that it runs optimally. Pricing for Veeam ONE is also cheaper than VMware vRealize Operations (vROps) which is a direct competitor in the ops space, so this is another advantage of the solution."
"It has a lot of features with a low (reasonable) price when compared with other backup solutions."
"The most critical features of Veeam Data Platform for ensuring availability and integrity are its fast virtual machine restoration using duplication for quick backups and the COBRA point functionality that allows us to run regu"
"The ntegration of physical agents with our cloud connect service is positive."

Cons

"I think Asigra still needs to simplify their GUI."
"The GUI isn't the slickest, because Asigra has opted to focus on features and capability over a shiny interface."
"The setup and configuration of this product is quite complex."
"Asigra's implementation and day-to-day costs are very high; necessary features can significantly increase the cost of implementation."
"Technical Support: 5/10, Due to different timezones it would always be difficult to get hold of a tech."
"They should improve the malware scanning capabilities, extending it to protect cloud application data."
"There are improvements required with the virtualization solution, I'm sure we will see a significant change in 2017."
"Product would occasionally encounter issues when it impacted other software."
"The amount of disk space required for the long term storage of backups (archiving Weekly / Monthly / yearly backups) can be higher then expected if you have a large daily change rate in your VM."
"Sometimes if a backup failed, it meant the snapshot was not removed. This could cause the VM to crash when it ran out of snapshot space."
"The replicating from Veeam Backup Replication to Azure cloud could be improved."
"I would like to see a storage application in the next version of the product."
"This is an expensive solution."
"The data duplication should be improved."
"The only real issues that I’ve had have been navigating the user interface particularly with restores."
"Its price is higher than other solutions and can be improved. They can also change the version of the software more often."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Asigra could improve, it is expensive. We have purchased an annual license."
"Asigra is priced competitively, but requires technical expertise to operate, optimize, and maintain its services."
"We are on an annual license for Veeam Backup Replication. We could expand or upgrade the license for the Office365 features. Next year we might go to a three-year plan for support on license."
"The price of Veeam Backup Replication is reasonable."
"The price is quite competitive compared to other products in my region."
"The price is a bit high. Licensing type is VMware friendly, so it is easy."
"It is more expensive than other solutions."
"The product is not that expensive."
"I have not used the resale license in our testing environments. Sometimes, our customers used the trial license for 30 days and so on."
"The licensing is the worst part of Veeam Backup Replication because for the more complex situations and it's quite difficult and complex. In particular, when mixing different requirements the licensing model is complex. For example, mixing a virtual machine backup and a file server backup in the same installation can be somewhat difficult and is expensive."
