Plenty of useful feature and reliable
We use Asigra for backups I have found all the features useful in the solution. I have been using Asigra for approximately two months. The solution is stable. The six people in our IT department are using the solution. The initial setup was a medium difficulty level. Some parts were complex…

Near-zero downtime has protected critical workloads and now simplifies hybrid cloud recovery
The best features of HPE Zerto Software are mainly very sophisticated and relevant to the current market. The data protection CDP part has real-time replication, unlike other solutions that have snapshot backups. We can set it up hourly, making it ideal for use with workloads. Another attraction is the near-zero RTO, with automated failover within minutes and one-click failover and failback. Currently, we are using a hybrid cloud solution, and HPE Zerto Software supports multi-cloud environments, making it easy to migrate between on-premises and cloud. Regarding the impact of HPE Zerto Software on our RTOs, we have near-zero RTO, meaning the system must be back online within thirty minutes if we measure the time. It is very quick to recover services. With HPE Zerto Software's near-synchronous replication, we have some CDP protection, so we typically write interceptions along with some asynchronous replication. There is almost real-time replication available.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cloud backup is easier to manage and administer than our previous tape solution."
"Asigra’s multi-tenancy feature is most valuable as it allows the company to on-sell a private cloud backup and recovery solution to existing customers."
"Asigra's client-less approach is one of the best in the industry."
"The solution has been very stable."
"Virtual Disaster Recovery in version 13 is a game-changer, especially for VMWare shops."
"Asigra is a cost effective solution and very competitive in the market."
"Since we have implemented Asigra we don’t have an administrator to do manual backup to tapes and external HDD; everything is automated and there are no hassles for the administrator."
"Flexibility really means a lot for us. Being able to address almost every client backup and recovery requirement means that we have a tremendous amount of confidence as do our partners that Blueshift is going to be able to deploy a solution quickly and efficiently."
"Zerto is the simplest disaster recovery and data recovery solution I've ever deployed, and I've been doing this for 30-plus years."
"With the deployment of Zerto, this has significantly improved."
"I've found the migration feature very valuable."
"The solution's most valuable aspect is allowing a failover from our remote sites to our data center. Our remote sites have failed several times, and on each occasion, we were able to bring a plant back online within 30 minutes, even though the hardware repair took many days."
"The most valuable feature is the disaster recovery capabilities. The fact that we can have a clinic across the country backup in as little as 45 minutes is incredible."
"The first benefit was being able to sleep better at night knowing that we can recover instantly."
"Zerto is fast to restore our mission-critical servers when needed."
"We have used Zerto to recover from ransomware three times and between the attacks we have recovered over 2 million files, never paid a ransom, and our users were only affected for just under two hours."

Cons

"Some more work on reporting tools is required to help get better auto-generated information and analysis from the system."
"There are improvements required with the virtualization solution, I'm sure we will see a significant change in 2017."
"Asigra's implementation and day-to-day costs are very high; necessary features can significantly increase the cost of implementation."
"Customer services would be a 3 out of 5, simply due high turnover and lack of communication."
"More integration with leading storage solutions."
"Product would occasionally encounter issues when it impacted other software."
"The setup and configuration of this product is quite complex."
"At present, downloading the relevant files and placing them into a directory on the DS-System is a little cumbersome and open to error/malicious use."
"Customer support has always responded well when we have a problem, although that has gotten a little bit less since HPE purchased it."
"Overall, it still requires reliance on other software for manual work such as cross-checking and validations, which takes additional time, but the runbook execution is quicker."
"Their support team didn’t have all the answers, and some of the cases took far too long to address, especially on critical systems that needed to be operational for our DR events."
"Some of the cloud instructions around VNets and peering of networks could be clearer with some best-case examples."
"The only complaint is that if I remove a host from a cluster, it does not like that. If I move and put the host in maintenance mode to fix it, and vRA is down, Zerto does not like it. Zerto should figure out that this host has an issue and it went down. Zerto should then let me upload that vRA information to another vRA."
"There are a lot of features that it has that we don't use since we are on prem."
"However, sometimes it feels like the QA is not great, as the previous two updates have been bug fixes."
"The support for this solution could be improved. It is challenging for staff who actually understand the product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Asigra is priced competitively, but requires technical expertise to operate, optimize, and maintain its services."
"The price of Asigra could improve, it is expensive. We have purchased an annual license."
"Staffing may be a little thin at times, but as far as budgeting what we buy, the price for this solution has not been so outrageous that we don't buy it."
"Pricing is one area where there could be some improvement. We would like to see a consumption model that would charge in a DR scenario, where you're failing over and consuming those resources, instead of a per-protected-node model. Or it could be a model based on the amount of storage space you're protecting."
"Its price is fair. It is very cost-effective compared to the cost of the labor for your workers and associates."
"When we purchased Zerto, we felt it was worth the cost as it would protect us from any potential problems and give us peace of mind knowing that any critical items could be recovered quickly."
"Its price is reasonable. I have not worked with other tools, but as compared to its competitors such as VMware, its price is lower. So, in my opinion, its price is good."
"We find the Zerto pricing fits our budget."
"You need to figure out how many critical servers and applications you have in your environment so you will know how many Zerto licenses to buy."
"The pricing is pretty competitive to that of other options out there. When we shopped around, it was in line with the price of other solutions."
