Affordable, easy to use, and offers good pricing
The solution is primarily used for the backup of the endpoints within our organization The solution has been very stable. It's quite easy to use and simple to navigate around. The performance has always been very good.  The pricing of the product is excellent. I wouldn't describe it as a…

Near-zero downtime has protected critical workloads and now simplifies hybrid cloud recovery
The best features of HPE Zerto Software are mainly very sophisticated and relevant to the current market. The data protection CDP part has real-time replication, unlike other solutions that have snapshot backups. We can set it up hourly, making it ideal for use with workloads. Another attraction is the near-zero RTO, with automated failover within minutes and one-click failover and failback. Currently, we are using a hybrid cloud solution, and HPE Zerto Software supports multi-cloud environments, making it easy to migrate between on-premises and cloud. Regarding the impact of HPE Zerto Software on our RTOs, we have near-zero RTO, meaning the system must be back online within thirty minutes if we measure the time. It is very quick to recover services. With HPE Zerto Software's near-synchronous replication, we have some CDP protection, so we typically write interceptions along with some asynchronous replication. There is almost real-time replication available.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Since we have implemented Asigra we don’t have an administrator to do manual backup to tapes and external HDD; everything is automated and there are no hassles for the administrator."
"It allows our backup engineers to build great relationships with customers as they know their data is being protected by best-in-class software."
"There are two primary improvements of the Asigra platform with the recent version 13.1 SP1: Virtualization: a tremendous variety of data protection solutions for virtual machines, and Cloud-2-Cloud for Office 365, Google, Amazon, etc., making this a full package of data protection platform."
"The cost is very reasonable; it's one of the cheapest options on the market, and any company can easily afford this product."
"The agentless architecture has minimized our software footprint at the client level."
"Virtual Disaster Recovery in version 13 is a game-changer, especially for VMWare shops."
"It provides a secure and stable cloud backup solution."
"The Asigra product on the whole is a fantastic solution and I would highly recommend this as it delivers everything our business and our subsequent customers required."
"It's extremely easy to use with one of the shortest setups I've ever done."
"The solution has helped to reduce downtime in situations; it gave us the ability to roll back a bad change that was made."
"I like that Zerto is easy to move and that there is no effect on the user; we are in the healthcare industry and can set up a server in no time whatsoever, making it easy for us to schedule because it takes only about one minute."
"It allows for my organization to quickly recover from any disaster with very little downtime utilizing a user interface that requires minimal knowledge or experience."
"So for both business and IT it is much easier to use Zerto and profit from best function and best performance in these area of replication tools"
"Zerto's overall effect on our RPOs has been business critical, reducing our downtime so we can recover in five to six minutes versus 12 hours, which would have cost our organization $30,000."
"The most valuable tool is the dashboard, which allows us to immediately check the DLP status, replication data, and all other data needed to have cleaner and immediate control of the situation."
"Compared to the previous DR replication solution, Zerto has decreased both RPO and RTO significantly."

Cons

"Product would occasionally encounter issues when it impacted other software."
"They should improve the malware scanning capabilities, extending it to protect cloud application data."
"More integration with leading storage solutions."
"The setup and configuration of this product is quite complex."
"The management could be a bit better."
"At present, downloading the relevant files and placing them into a directory on the DS-System is a little cumbersome and open to error/malicious use."
"Personally speaking, I think the reporting should be more interactive."
"Asigra's implementation and day-to-day costs are very high; necessary features can significantly increase the cost of implementation."
"You can create a VPG and put anywhere from one to 17 servers in that group. We build them one by one. If something changes in VMware, it would be nice to be able to go in and change that VPG, having it update without messing up. When you change them now, it only applies to the copies from the points when you changed it. I wish it would purge that older data from the past. Right now, we have to build a new VPG, which is not a big deal as it is just a few screens."
"What I dislike about HPE Zerto Software is maybe the reporting."
"I don't think Zerto does that well to where it keeps a memory of the files that are there."
"The HPE Zerto Software can be improved with more visibility."
"Some of the features need improvement. One would be, as you're creating a Move group or a VPG, as they call it, it should either autosave or have the ability so that you can save it for coming back to later because if the setup times out, you lose all your work."
"There are quite a few elements in the long-term retention areas that I wish were better. The bio-level recovery indexing of backups is the area I struggle with the most. That's probably because I desire to do tasks that ordinary users wouldn't do with the solution. The standard medium to large customer would probably never ask for anything like I ask for, so I think it's pretty good the way it is. I'm excited to see some of the new improvements coming in the 9.5 version. Some of the streamlines and how the product presents itself for some of the recovery features could be better."
"Zerto's documentation is outdated. I'm finding it hard to find documents related to my questions. Their documentation is bad."
"The biggest improvement would be exporting VPGs and a configuration of VPGs, as well as increasing or improving their IP customization rule set."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Asigra is priced competitively, but requires technical expertise to operate, optimize, and maintain its services."
"The price of Asigra could improve, it is expensive. We have purchased an annual license."
"I think the cost is reasonable for VM licensing. It's not outside the scope of an enterprise product."
"Zerto is definitely more costly compared to its competitors, such as VMware Site Recovery Manager. It may not be suitable for small and medium-sized industries."
"It is not the cheapest option on the market, but it offers a number of features that make it a good value for businesses that need a comprehensive disaster recovery plan."
"There is a one-time cost for maintenance and support. We have a three-year contract that we will have to renew when those three years come up. There is also licensing on top of that for whatever product you are using it for."
"I know it is per server, but I am not fully aware of the price model. I know for our VDI environment, they are looking at something that is on the lower end and that they can use just for migrations and not so much a disaster recovery."
"There may be less expensive solutions on the market but with Zerto, you get what you pay for."
"Zerto's price seems fair. It's competitive."
"Pricing depends on your future growth. Start small and then scale up."
