Real-time alerting enhances network monitoring, but interface and network mapping need improvement
The interface is good yet could be improved. There are many elements that could be changed in the interface itself. There should be some sort of chart or alerting within the dashboard. In the overview section, these features are currently absent. When you get an alert, you must go to notifications, then within the device to identify the issue. It would be beneficial if everything was visible immediately upon logging in to the overview, such as machine performance and other metrics. Regarding the network map and visibility, there are some issues. Many people have mentioned that the network map needs improvement, especially when handling numerous items. Currently, I have everything in place: printers, monitors, laptops, switches, and access points. However, I have three switches showing outside of the loop without explanation. This issue is persistent, not occasional. These switches appear disconnected in the corner, even though they are connected and online according to other platforms. The presentation aspect needs significant improvement. We have government-related clients, and taking a screenshot of the current network mapping to send to them appears unprofessional. Although Auvik Network Management (ANM) provides network mapping, I still need to create my own network diagram to make it presentable for clients.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Monitoring is probably the most active thing Auvik does for us. If a particular device on the network goes down, we have that granularity to see which network element is causing the problem."
"Auvik was one of the very few solutions that had the features I was looking for. That's why I signed up for the trial. Immediately, I knew it's what I was looking for."
"I have found Auvik extremely stable. They do a lot of scheduled maintenance, but it's almost always on the weekends, so it doesn't impact us."
"It's very intuitive. It does a good job of showing you individual nodes on the network and their relative positions to one another, with pertinent details on each node, all in one location."
"The ability to map out the network topology is one of the top features I like about Auvik. It's one of the best on the market. They have a feature called Loopback Detection, which has helped us, in many scenarios easily detect that without having to physically go to the location to see if there is a loopback somewhere."
"The backup and remote control feature of Auvik Network Management (ANM) is my favorite. It is pretty easy to use."
"The most valuable features for me are network monitoring and alerting."
"Overall, I really love the tool as it has been super helpful for us in our environment."
"The machine learning feature is valuable."
"Centerity is much more than a monitoring tool — it’s a unified, end-to-end, enterprise-class and multi-tenanted AIOps Platform that is purpose-built to help MSPs and data-centers deliver the highest levels of up-time and performance."
"The Centerity gives us exactly what we need from performance system monitoring."

Cons

"We schedule backups in the middle of the night, and a high volume of data passes through our networks during those backups because it backs up everything for a couple of hours. That generates alerts in Auvik's monitoring systems saying that these network ports are at 99 percent utilization because they're being maxed out. I'd like to have a way to mute alerts during these hours. There's no way to whitelist this activity within a set period. I want to be able to tell Auvik not to send me alerts about high utilization on these ports between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m."
"It should be easier to see Mac addresses."
"I've been finding some features difficult. It might be because I'm used to PRTG, and Auvik works differently. When it comes to monitoring a simple IP address, Auvik makes it a bit harder and more complex because you have to create a service inside the site. It's not just creating a sensor and having it ping the device. You need to go to the site and create the service."
"The only area that I dislike about the solution is the lack of exportability."
"When we configured our network, there were some mismatches between the automatically-detected network topology and the actual topology. Some of the devices were not detected or were not supported by Auvik. We were able to manually modify things and everything has worked well since then."
"Auvik could be better integrated with our ticketing system ConnectWise Manage. We tried integrating Auvik to create tickets, but working to implement a more granular classification system based on priority. The important thing is that we get the alerts, regardless of priority, but that's something that can be improved."
"The network mapping is just okay when I consider what I would typically see in a network map... that whole overview map in a single pane of glass can be pretty messy and a little bit of a performance hog on computers. The network mapping needs improvement in Auvik, as a whole."
"It would be useful if network monitoring tools could differentiate between traffic on individual physical ports and traffic on logical interfaces like LAGs or bonded interfaces. Ideally, the tool would also recognize and remove duplicate traffic counts within the overall flow metrics."
"One of the major improvements should be it implementation as a SaaS"
"They can improve the functionality that provides some numbers related to the behavior of the metrics."
"The GUI must be improved. Graphs must be changed including high level maps"

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I don't have any insight into the cost, as another department handles that."
"Pricing for Auvik Network Management is genuine. I would categorize its pricing as good."
"We have a lot of problems with licensing in many other solutions, but I've never run into a problem with Auvik licensing. That's a pretty good vote of confidence."
"It's always been very affordable."
"I don't work in the finance department, so I'm not familiar with the pricing details; however, I know some clients declined Auvik due to the pricing, so they found it expensive. Other clients have adopted it, so they think it's worth the cost."
"We have licenses per year. It is on a network device, so we pay for switches and firewalls. Everything else is included, e.g., computers, access points, and printers."
"Auvik's pricing model is good."
"It turns out they only charge for routers and switches!"
