Effortlessly manages large-scale data migrations and improves cost efficiency
There were some areas that could be improved with Avepoint FLY, particularly regarding an issue with the final reporting. While I cannot remember the exact issue, it was related to the final report concerning which files were migrated and what errors occurred. However, this could have been a user problem rather than an application problem.

Near-zero downtime has protected critical workloads and now simplifies hybrid cloud recovery
The best features of HPE Zerto Software are mainly very sophisticated and relevant to the current market. The data protection CDP part has real-time replication, unlike other solutions that have snapshot backups. We can set it up hourly, making it ideal for use with workloads. Another attraction is the near-zero RTO, with automated failover within minutes and one-click failover and failback. Currently, we are using a hybrid cloud solution, and HPE Zerto Software supports multi-cloud environments, making it easy to migrate between on-premises and cloud. Regarding the impact of HPE Zerto Software on our RTOs, we have near-zero RTO, meaning the system must be back online within thirty minutes if we measure the time. It is very quick to recover services. With HPE Zerto Software's near-synchronous replication, we have some CDP protection, so we typically write interceptions along with some asynchronous replication. There is almost real-time replication available.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Some of the best features with Avepoint FLY are that it is very easy to use, and the tool moves files quite quickly."
"If a company is looking for something that is easy to use and not too complicated, this is perfect."
"The solution is very straightforward to use. It's not overly difficult to figure out."
"I would rate the stability a ten out of ten."
"The initial setup phase can be described as a very user-friendly one...The solution's technical support was good since they responded very promptly."
"The most valuable feature of AvePoint FLY is its ability to install or use multiple client servers using a single master server and balance the migration load depending on our needs."
"Zerto's replication is superior to anyone else's out there; it's faster, simpler, and effective, and I don't think I could get as low an RTO and RPO with any other solution."
"Another big attraction is the near zero RPO."
"Zerto is excellent."
"Don't underestimate how good it feels to rollback data instantly."
"The single pane of glass in Zerto Virtual Replication and ease of use is what makes Zerto different from other replication products that I have used in the past."
"The most important features are the simplicity of recovery and the wider capabilities and feature sets than VMware SRM has."
"Zerto allows for a more granular replication ability and therefore a more flexible model than the per-socket licensed alternatives."
"Zerto has helped us reduce overall DR testing in our company. What used to take a month I can do in less than two days."

Cons

"Technical support is lacking in that they don't seem to respond. I do a lot of research myself. I can't rely on them."
"There were some areas that could be improved with Avepoint FLY, particularly regarding an issue with the final reporting. While I cannot remember the exact issue, it was related to the final report concerning which files were migrated and what errors occurred."
"The solution's reporting could be improved because it does not have a lot of reporting capabilities."
"Right now, AvePoint FLY doesn’t provide us with help to identify the size of the mailed items for a certain period."
"The initial setup is a little bit more complex than setting up Cloud Backup for Avepoint."
"The email alerts can be excessive, so better control over frequency or resolution may be a worthwhile improvement."
"The technical support is hit or miss."
"With the current updates primarily on the Azure side of it, documentation could be improved."
"The documentation needs improvement in terms of the setup, getting enough detail, and getting that up to speed."
"An area for improvement is the support because it gets really expensive. They need to make it a little cheaper. Support also takes time."
"When setting up Zerto, you have to set up VRAs. I would like to see those not be needed as much. They're a little cumbersome and take up a lot of VM counts."
"Physical servers would be a nice enhancement. I would also like to see the backup portion really enhanced further."
"My only suggestion for how HPE Zerto Software could be improved would be to integrate with other virtualization platforms, as many organizations are moving off of VMware, so having options there would be beneficial."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"AvePoint FLY's pricing is good enough for its capabilities."
"There are two different ways of licensing Avepoint FLY. So either you can use set up a licensing form based on objects which we do not recommend because then it will be more costly. So what you do is you set up the migration based on the users instead."
"The prices of the tool are neither low nor high, so it can be considered a moderately-priced product."
"We are using the trial version and find it to be costly. It's something around $20. With another attachment, the cost was lower, at about $3. However, you seem to have to buy more licenses than you need."
"The pricing doesn't seem too bad for what it does."
"It is not the cheapest product; it is not the most expensive product, but it works. It is a mid-range product, and it is justified in terms of being pretty quick and easy."
"Zerto is affordable."
"As far as I know, the pricing is around $1,000 per VM, but Zerto is changing the pricing model to more of an enterprise-class license. I don't know if there are any additional costs or fees."
"When we purchased Zerto, we felt it was worth the cost as it would protect us from any potential problems and give us peace of mind knowing that any critical items could be recovered quickly."
"I am not very involved with the pricing, but from my understanding, it is fairly expensive for us. This is why we limit its use to our tier-one customers. We have other disaster recovery solutions for our other customers due to the cost."
"Pricing is kind of expensive, but for what we get, it is probably worth it. I know they just had a huge price increase due to the VMware stuff getting expensive, which added about a thousand dollars a month to our bill."
"I think the cost is reasonable for VM licensing. It's not outside the scope of an enterprise product."
