Efficient data integration reduces operational time and enhances metadata management
For the initial setup with AWS Glue, I find it easy to set up the data catalog and create Glue jobs using the visual editor or the visual code. Setting permission sets via IAM rules can be a bit tricky at the start, but we ensure Glue has access to AWS S3, Redshift, and other services. Once the role is configured, it runs smoothly. For advanced configurations, connecting to VPCs and setting up connections with JDBC sources takes more time compared to my cloud experience, but overall, for someone with cloud and ETL experience, the setup is manageable and well done.

Real-time integration and seamless data synchronization enhance user experience
The stability of Oracle GoldenGate Cloud Service is one of its most useful features, although its performance is not too steady. It excels with bidirectional data synchronization. It supports diverse databases and platforms. We link the ODS with numerous source systems, including Oracle, Tarek Data, and Microsoft, with no integration issues. The solution caters to enterprise needs, fitting any organizational requirement, apart from data security issues common to cloud solutions. The cloud data security challenge is notable, necessitating solutions such as private cloud offerings to allay security concerns.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The price is very good; it's enticing people to move to the cloud."
"Its user interface is quite good; you just need to choose some options to create a job in AWS Glue, and the code-generation feature is also useful because if you don't want to customize it and simply want to read a file and store the data in the database, it can generate the code for you."
"The solution is serverless so it allows us to transform data while optimizing the cost and performance of Spark jobs."
"The solution is highly user-friendly, and its features are easy to use. The new addition of AWS Glue Data Catalog is also very beneficial, making the tool even more helpful for its users."
"It is a stable and scalable solution."
"The most valuable features currently are glue studio, jobs, and triggers."
"We have found it beneficial when moving data from one source to another."
"The key role for Glue is that it hosts our metadata before rolling out our actual data. This is the major advantage of using this solution and our clients client have been very satisfied with it."
"GoldenGate can aggregate various data types from different sources."
"Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"Oracle Database generally guarantees a good response for customer use cases."
"We are heavily involved with GitHub for managing repositories, automatic deployments, and inner source projects."
"The stability of Oracle GoldenGate Cloud Service is one of its most useful features, although its performance is not too steady; it excels with bidirectional data synchronization and supports diverse databases and platforms."

"It provides a good response for external microservices applications."
"Oracle GoldenGate Cloud Service is valued for its ability to replicate data in real-time, offering significant benefits from a data perspective."

Cons

"Setting up pipelines is challenging, especially with version control and testing requirements."
"The solution could be cheaper. The price of the solution is an area that needs improvement."
"In the building and deployment aspects, there is room for improvement. The current process is a bit complicated and could benefit from being more user-friendly and simpler, which would help speed up the deployment process."
"The solution needs to expand its 30-minute query or runtime."
"It needs improvements in terms of Java support and the turnaround time for our problems."
"Only people who can code, either in Java or Python, can use the product freely. Those who don't know Java or Python might find using AWS Glue difficult."
"The product is expensive for data streaming. This area needs improvement."

"Pricing is rather expensive. Oracle typically prices on the higher side, and there is scope for them to reconsider the price, especially since it is a cloud service."
"The initial setup was a little complex, and we required support from Oracle to complete it."
"With Oracle GoldenGate Cloud Service, we have usual cloud solution issues such as privacy and data security."
"Oracle is always adding new features. I can't think of anything that's urgent currently."
"I am not very happy with Oracle Support. Over the past four to five years, I have experienced many problems when opening support requests."
"More technical documentation is needed, especially in terms of mapping and conversion of data, while integration would also be very helpful."
"Oracle GoldenGate Cloud Service lacks AI. If AI gets introduced in Oracle GoldenGate Cloud Service, it would be much easier to do analysis."
"Support could be improved. They lack knowledge."

"AWS Glue uses a pay-as-you-go approach which is helpful. The price of the overall solution is low and is a great advantage."

"I rate the product price a six on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
