Centralized control has strengthened privileged security and simplified audit investigations
While One Identity Safeguard is a strong and reliable PAM solution, there are a few areas where it can be further improved to enhance user experience and scalability. Regarding the user interface and experience, the UI, while functional, can be a bit complex for new users. A more intuitive and modern dashboard with simplified navigation would improve adoption, especially for non-technical stakeholders. Regarding integration flexibility, although it supports major integrations, expanding out-of-the-box connectors for more cloud-native apps, DevOps tools, and SaaS platforms would be beneficial. Faster and simpler API-based integrations could reduce deployment efforts. Regarding scalability and performance in large enterprise environments, performance tuning and scaling can require additional efforts. Enhancing seamless scalability and high availability configuration would improve enterprise readiness.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has allowed us to have a central system for handling security profiles for all users on different target systems e.g. Oracle, Unix, and Active Directory."
"One Identity Safeguard has positively impacted our organization by increasing visibility into privileged user activities, allowing us to track and audit all actions easily, which helps in compliance and security."
"I have seen a clear return on investment with One Identity Safeguard, reducing manual effort for access management by around thirty to forty percent, decreasing audit preparation time by nearly fifty percent, and lowering the risks of costly incidents through improved security controls."
"The monitoring system is very good."
"The most interesting thing about this product is it is very easy to implement and configure as well as its usability."
"My advice for others looking into using One Identity Safeguard is that it is a great solution for simple tasks, with a good price and good functionality."
"One Identity Safeguard makes password manageability easy and helps us monitor and reduce manual tasks such as auditing and improving log visibility, while also providing compliance-based reporting for our upper management."
"It provides secure and centralized access to both on-prem and cloud servers, which we did not have before. Previously, there were myriad ways to access our servers, so this centralizing feature is beneficial."
"One Identity Safeguard has saved us security time, improved security, better compliance, increased trust in employees, and reduced risk since the tools provided by the company are now in safer hands."

Cons

"This product launches a request to add or remove accesses on different target systems but it doesn't check that the access granted was previously requested."
"Reporting and dashboard customization with One Identity Safeguard should be better improved."
"Support can be improved in terms of response times and consistency. Sometimes resolving complex issues takes longer than expected and requires multiple follow-ups."
"Transparent mode was too cumbersome, so I don't foresee us being able to use it."
"One Identity Safeguard is a strong PAM solution, but there are some areas for improvement."
"One Identity Safeguard can be improved in areas such as UI modernization."
"We are still in the onboarding phase, and it seems very manual. Ideally, a single interface to integrate all these processes would be useful."
"From a usability perspective, what we are finding out is that our privileged domain admin users, in particular, want functionality for extending a checkout session. So we are working with One Identity support to see if there's an enhancement that can be made to the product."
"The initial deployment and configuration can be complex, especially for organizations with larger hybrid environments."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Our licensing costs are on a yearly basis."
"We bought their other products, so it was not that expensive. It is one of those where the more you buy, the cheaper it is."
"They have comparable pricing. All identity products are essentially priced in a similar way. It's a per-user base."
"It is a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. You don't want to get anything too cheap because then you get cheap stuff and cheap support. That really never helps anybody."
"Its subscription cost is too much, and sometimes, it is very difficult to pitch the solution to the management for cost approval. If the cost is reduced a little bit, it would be easier. If its cost was less, many other organizations that currently cannot afford it would be able to use this technology. I'm sure many organizations around the globe are having issues with identity management, and it is a very difficult task for IT to manage privileged accounts."
"It is cheaper than CyberArk. Its price is fair."
"The pricing is about $80,000 per 100 servers. There are few elective costs."
"They offer a fair price for a robust solution."
