Improved security measures with some support response delays
For BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management, the best features are the security measures we have, such as not sharing any credentials with employees in the bank sector. For security purposes in BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management, when employees are working in the system, we can make a recording of the video, showing the modifications and configurations they made, allowing us to see everything. The recording option is available. BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management positively impacts the organization by providing more security and benefits, such as ensuring that if modifications are made, we can see where mistakes occurred in the recording video. The recording video in BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management allows us to see modifications and mistakes, which is an advantage.

Access control has improved approvals and tracking and now supports just-in-time administration
Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management definitely has a good amount of value for me because I associate it in a way that if someone wants to try to do something, they have to get approval. This means someone doing something has to put in what ticket information is relevant so I can keep track of why they are doing it. They are not just going in there with access to do whatever they want to do. It has to be done with a purpose and I think that is a big key point of it. The Just-in-Time access feature has not really helped me a lot more with managing privileged access. I think it is just a matter of how things are set up. If I need to build a server, I have to go in and increase my privileges for an amount of time that is allowed to build the server and then it elapses and then I am kicked out and then the next time I have to do it all over again. This is nice because it keeps track of what is going on. However, it would be nicer if I got a better reporting tool that can show what was happening instead of an email every single time it happens. The access review capabilities of Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management definitely benefits me so that I have a better understanding of who has access to what and what they are doing at what time.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Overall, it has proven very useful to all individuals from engineer to the 'C' class of the company."
"I can take a customer that is non-compliant with 27001, an organization that failed their registrar audit, and get them to compliance with this product fairly quickly; in half a year."
"The notable aspect is its ability to capture the application's behavior comprehensively and this thorough analysis is crucial for effective policy management."
"It's relatively straightforward to set up, especially if you are deploying to the cloud."
"The solution is very fast, offers good authentication, makes managing passwords and access easy, ensures that access is granted only to respective people and organizations, and BeyondTrust has very good integrations with quite a lot of security vendors such as SailPoint, IBM, FortiGuard, and Splunk."
"The privileged access and the application control are helpful in making sure we have good, robust challenge responses. Blacklisting with trusted application protection is also beneficial for us."
"BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management is adaptable across Windows, macOS, UNIX, and Linux."
"I find the solution’s features like section management, password management, and analytics valuable."
"Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management definitely has a good amount of value for me because I associate it in a way that if someone wants to try to do something, they have to get approval."
"The ability to provide just-in-time privileged access and set specific parameters for access duration is highly beneficial."
"The integration with other Microsoft solutions is a standout feature of Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management."
"Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management is easy to understand, particularly its menu."
"The integration with Azure Identity is a significant advantage, as it allows for seamless automation and power app integration."

Cons

"Technical support for BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management should be an enterprise edition; whoever is working in the bank sector for security purposes needs to be 100% secure on the servers."
"It only has limited support for Mac."
"The help system should be improved to provide a quick help guide with each tab within the solution, which explains what each particular function does."
"How the accounts are presented in the solution's UI can be improved."
"It should support XWindows Remote Desktop Access protocol for Linux/Unix."
"The deployment process should be clarified or made simpler. It would be helpful if the solution had in-app tutorials for users to look at as they progress through the system. Sometimes we get lost and need to go back to check what exactly the function was. There should be small hints around major key functions. It would go a long way in speeding up the deployment process."
"There is room for improvement in having the solution align more with standards. We're always shoehorning the product into the standards. It's not that it doesn't work for standards, it does. But Quick Start Policies are pretty close to what we need. The vendor needs to keep looking at GDPR, 27001, and 27701. That's why our clients buy the product."
"One issue, especially when you deploy HA actively and passively, is the synchronization."
"Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management has made progress in providing insights into generative AI tools being used within organizations, but customers need to further track where sensitive information is being used within AI tooling."
"There's room for improvement in Microsoft's documentation, as it often lacks clarity."
"Sometimes, its functions, like XLOOKUP in Microsoft Excel, do not find situations properly, especially without the use of pivot tables."
"The Just-in-Time access feature has not really helped me a lot more with managing privileged access."
"I do not see any financial benefit after implementing Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management, however, this question would be better answered by my manager."
"Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management could improve integration with multiple cloud environments."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"PowerBroker for a Mac client is three times the price of the Windows version."
"It is relatively more cost-effective compared to the competing product."
"Its pricing and licensing are okay. We were in the perpetual model when it was on-prem, and now, with the SaaS service, we have a subscription model. As a customer, I would always like to see a lower price, but it seems to be priced at the right model currently, and we are trying to get the maximum benefits out of it."
"The product’s licensing is different for Windows, Linux, and Mac. The tool’s licensing is yearly."
"Price-wise, it is very competitive. In our area, government entities and banks don't go for the monthly payment. It is a headache even for us in terms of finance and procurement to go for monthly payments. Quarterly might be more logical and reasonable, but the minimum that we go for is one year, and sometimes, we even try to compile and give one offering for three years."
"The solution's pricing is high."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"This solution is expensive compared to its competitors."
