Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Effective real-time threat detection and reduced network congestion improves security posture
We are not currently using the automated patching or patch management. The security analytics feature, which could help us stay compliant with industry standards, hasn't been enabled yet. Currently running on-premise, we are considering moving to the cloud-based Bitdefender GravityZone Enterprise Security because it offers more features compared to the on-premises version. We've experienced multiple failures during appliance upgrades, sometimes requiring us to resort to backup. Mobile and cloud features are currently missing in Bitdefender GravityZone Enterprise Security. Operating from the primary site, we face challenges with the on-premises version when working from the DR site, which is why we want to move to the cloud for continuous protection during site failovers.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"On a scale from one to ten, I would rate Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks a nine."
"When the pandemic started, Palo Alto came up with many solutions, which helped with the quick shift from on-premises to the cloud."
"We use Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks for its ability to detect based on behavior rather than simple virus scan to prevent malicious activities."
"Being a cloud solution it is very flexible in serving internal and external connections and a broad range of devices."
"Previously, we had to install endpoint protection per machine and then scan and update, but Cortex XDR basically does that centrally and predictably, so we have more time to do day-to-day work rather than spend time chasing those endpoints."
"Based on my experience, I would recommend Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks to other people."
"My advice for others looking into using Cortex is that it is very easy to use and very useful for the customer environment, whether it's a public or private one."
"The most valuable feature of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is its machine-learning capabilities. Additionally, there is full integration with other solutions."
"The solution is very scalable."
"They are the leader and have a major market share with this kind of security, the cloud console is good and the tool has effective protection, and we do not have problems with malware."
"I like its unified interface, which also helps you scan Outlook email, for example. Multiple products can be standardized across endpoints or the EDR solution, and the integrations with SIEMs."
"The risk analytics capability is excellent because the central console is very good."
"Virus scan and the ability to remotely install are valuable features. Being able to manage everything in one place and set different policies and rules for different computer types are very useful features. It also has ransomware protection. It is very simple to use, and it is very effective."
"Security for malware and threats is the most valuable feature."
"The most valuable features of Bitdefender GravityZone Enterprise Security are remote administration and deployment, comprehensive firewall protection, malware protection, and antivirus."
"The cloud console is good and the tool is effective in protection."
"The two valuable features are anti-ransomware and data loss protection."
"The most valuable feature is its endpoint protection, particularly the antivirus component. It has been very effective in protecting our clients, and since its installation, we haven't encountered any issues with compromised endpoints or virus impacts."
"There are many features available in this solution, such as asset management."
"The solution effectively detects malicious files and blocks sign-ins."
"The overall performance of the server and the dashboard are the most interesting aspects of the solution."
"The most valuable part of the solution is its ransomware backup feature."
"The update process and policy control are good."
"The solution is stable."

Cons

"When it comes to core analysis, and security analysis, Cortex needs to provide more information."
"I recommend adding a data loss prevention (DLP) solution to Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks. The inclusion of this feature would allow the application of DLP policies alongside antivirus policies via a single agent and console, making it more competitive as other OEMs often offer DLP solutions as part of their antivirus products."
"The solution should force customers to integrate with network traffic to see the full benefits of XDR."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks could improve by adding a sandbox feature to better compete with their competitors which have it."
"The tool needs to be improved in terms of integration and interface."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is not only pricey; it is extremely expensive."
"However, if you do not have Palo Alto in your environment, you are paying these additional services just for Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks, so it is not a cost-effective solution."
"A potential area of improvement for Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is the cost."
"The risk management tool does not have reporting, which I feel to be a huge mistake."
"At this point in time, the download footprint is a bit big. What I mean is the initial file I download to deploy on end-user devices is about six hundred to seven hundred megabytes, and it should be scaled down to an agent size of maybe less than one hundred megabytes, max."
"The solution's stability could be better."
"My main concern is that it's a bit heavy for some devices. Like Kaspersky or McAfee, it uses more RAM or memory. Similar to that, it causes issues for users and their own resources, similar to that. If you deploy on old legacy devices with only 1GB of RAM, then it could be a problem."
"The lack of detecting security threats and high memory usage need to be improved."
"The firewall capabilities could benefit from an upgrade since it lacks a high level of granularity and control."
"There are compatibility concerns as Bitdefender does not support Windows 7."
"I think it would be helpful if I could get a live console directly on the machine. Additionally, if I could run scripts on the machines to respond to any incidents, that would be a great feature."
"Endpoint Security would be improved by adding DLP."
"The support offered by the tool is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"The pricing could be a bit lower."
"Deployment of Seqrite Endpoint Security is generally straightforward. The only complexity we encounter is that, since it is cloud-based, there can be delays in updating the endpoint's status."
"The cost of the solution can be improved."
"User management could be improved."
"When it comes to the support provided by the product, I see that Seqrite is not as mature as the other products in the market."
"A handbook of known issues and quick fixes should be given so that troubleshooting and frustration are less."
