Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Doesn't have daily updates, which is important for healthcare IT
I face challenges with the exclusion policy - it still scans folders we told it not to, causing issues. When we contact support, they tell us to update the latest agent, but we can't do that immediately due to medical device protocols and validation testing. I wish support would try to understand our issues better instead of giving this standard response. The machine learning feature they use often tells us to upgrade the agent or add things to the exclusion list, which isn't unacceptable. It's a very good and new technology as a tool and antivirus. But sometimes, it doesn't work properly with our medical devices and products, quarantining files it shouldn't even after we add them to exclusions. This is tricky for us.

Centralized console has improved visibility while setup remains quick on diverse environments
I don't know why I find it valuable; my colleague administrated it, but I was the chief of a team of six people, and one of them administered this product, which worked well for defending our servers. I don't know what the best features of Trend Vision One Endpoint Security are; it performs well compared to other products, and I am curious about it, but I cannot think of specific features. Perhaps my colleagues could provide that information, but I do not have that knowledge. The centralized console helps my team greatly; it is very convenient as everything is all in one console, not only EDR but many other products, such as email security and XDR features. Trend Vision One Endpoint Security positively impacts our organization as it is very simple to install on Windows and Linux servers; it is not very difficult to install.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Their XDR agent and their behavioral indicators of compromise (BIOC) are pretty nice. Their managed threat hunting is also pretty nice. They also have WildFire, which is a service for actively looking for malware. It's quite useful."
"Its ability to react to cyber data attacks is awesome. That is pretty much the use of it. What blows your mind is the ability to access your assets remotely and see what is actually going on with them. You can not only see them in a console. You can also react very rapidly to your assets that are compromised."
"Cortex XDR is a simple platform that's easy for administrators and users. You have a lot of flexibility to change or customize the features."
"The ability to kind of stitch everything together and see the actual complete picture is very useful. I guess you'd call it a playbook. Some people call it the forensics analysis of what was happening on particular endpoints when they detected some malicious behavior, and what transpired before that to cause that. It is also very user friendly. The way they have done everything and integrated all the solutions that they've purchased over the years to make it a very seamless, effective product is very good. One thing about Palo Alto is that they take the products or services that they purchase and make them seamless for the end user as compared to some companies that purchase other companies and then just kind of have their products off to the side or keep different interfaces. Palo Alto doesn't do that."
"The initial setup is pretty easy."
"The best feature of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is that it collects logs from different sections such as the endpoint, the network, and the cloud, making it easy to investigate alerts, collect some of the investigation packages related to the infected machines, and provide live response."
"I like the centralized console and the predictive analysis it does of malware. It is very stable and also scalable."
"The initial setup isn't too bad."
"It actively monitors the behavior and activity of processes and will, without hesitation, terminate at root anything it determines to be suspect."
"Has good RAM capacity for the power I need"
"CylancePROTECT works on AI technology, is always up to date, and uses very few resources on your devices."
"It provides good insight into the programs, applications, or websites that may need attention."
"It does a good job of protecting us."
"Does malware analysis. Blocks WannaCry and other attacks that have come out."
"Its setup is simple if you have a Windows device; it is executable."
"I like the AI and mathematical components that they use."
"I like Apex One's DLP capabilities. You can scan and control data leakage on the user system level. Our previous solution would look at things from the user desktop level, and you had to have an agent deployed to collect that. The solution offers different levels of protection that you can invest in."
"The most valuable feature is the behavior monitoring."
"Before Apex One, we used OfficeScan, which Trend Micro acquired, but it was on-prem. We were managing three or four anti-virus solutions. Apex One's cloud model allowed us to decommission the on-prem servers and consolidate. We get all the same features, and everything is upgraded automatically, so we only need to use the software."
"I can run a full scan and it won't cost too much in terms of resources, which is good."
"The antivirus is the most valuable aspect of Trend Micro Apex One."
"Stable threat protection software that's quick to install. The security it provides is okay."
"The solution is stable and integrated into the system quite well."
"The solution offers great visibility into their IT infrastructure and uses industry-leading threat intelligence strategies."

Cons

"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks can improve mobile integration to allow access to the console."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks could improve by adding a sandbox feature to better compete with their competitors which have it."
"However, if you do not have Palo Alto in your environment, you are paying these additional services just for Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks, so it is not a cost-effective solution."
"It would be good to have a better way to search for a file within the UI."
"If they had pulse rate detection, it would be better."
"In general, the price could be more competitive."
"The solution could improve by providing better integration with their own products and others."
"I would like to see better protection, specifically to protect email applications."
"It should have better support for Windows and Mac."
"The price for this EPP platform is expensive and could be improved."
"I would say one thing that they might need to bring in is protection for mobile devices."
"The company that sells us the licenses sometimes doesn't know how to do certain things."
"CylancePROTECT's dashboard could be more user-friendly."
"I face challenges with the exclusion policy - it still scans folders we told it not to, causing issues. When we contact support, they tell us to update the latest agent, but we can't do that immediately due to medical device protocols and validation testing. I wish support would try to understand our issues better instead of giving this standard response. The machine learning feature they use often tells us to upgrade the agent or add things to the exclusion list, which isn't unacceptable."
"An area for improvement in CylancePROTECT is its pricing, as it's a bit costly."
"Having worked with SentinelOne, Cylance is good, however, it probably needs to add a feature similar to SentinelOne's rollback functionality. With this feature, if you get infected, with a click, you can go back to the pre-infection state. If Cylance could add this functionality to their offering as well, that would be ideal."
"In the next release, I would like to see IBS included in OfficeScan."
"Initially, it isn't easy to understand the console because most of the applications integrate through Visual One. When we create a new dashboard, it takes some time to adapt, but the IT staff does not have any problems."
"There is room for improvement in the reporting aspect"
"Trend Vision One Endpoint Security can be improved in application control."
"I want more options and flexibility when creating rules. I want to set rules that are contingent, like "If this happens, then this, this, and this will happen.""
"We want to manage the policies in the group. Currently, if I am at one location and other users are at other locations, the main problem is that we cannot manage policies location-wise. The policy management should be improved. I should be able to group them based on the location. If one location has four policies and another location has the same policy, currently, I have to scroll the screen to find out the policy as per my location."
"For primary use cases, we required DLP solutions with application control and web control, which is not provided by Trend Vision One Endpoint Security."
"One of Trend Micro's weaknesses is its high resource utilization."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This is an expensive solution."
"The price is on the higher side, but it's okay."
"I don't have any issues with the pricing. We are satisfied with the price."
"Our license will require renewal in August, after which the maintenance will continue as usual."
"It's the most expensive solution, but features-wise, it's quite strong. It's very good for protection, so the results are very good in the case of protection. I would rate it a two out of ten in terms of pricing."
"Licensing for Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR can be costly, especially when it comes to a hundred users. A license is required for each user, and the subscription must be renewed on a yearly basis."
"The return on investment is from the user side because we have seen the performance of it increase the delivery time of the product if we are using too many web-based and on-premise applications. In indirect ways, we saw the return of investment in terms of performance and user satisfaction increase."
"When we first bought it, it was a bit expensive, but it was worth it. The licensing was straightforward."
"It's not so heavily priced; rather, it's average and decent."
"The monthly fee is $55 USD per user."
"Shop around for sure and be assured the price you pay will be close to other solutions available, but even at a slight mark-up from the other solutions, you are getting real endpoint protection versus nothing more than a cheap security blanket that might keep you warm at night."
"We went through a third party initially to do the renewal, but we won't be renewing, we will move on to something else."
"It is expensive, but not unreasonable."
"Review closely how many endpoints you actually need before buying into a pricing level. Deal and deal with the VAR of your choice."
"Our licensing cost for the solution is around $4,000 for six months. There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"CylancePROTECT is an affordable solution."
"We are using an annual license for this solution."
"From what I understand the pricing is not expensive for Trend Micro Apex One."
"I find the price of Apex One to be reasonable. The pricing varies from company to company. Your business will have a different price than what we have because the product's price depends on the number of users."
"It's an annual subscription."
"Apex One is expensive but we manage to work with the cost."
"It's well priced at a yearly rate. The price itself depends on whether the solution is full suite, half suite, or some other engine. It's different according to the consumer's requests."
"On a scale of one to ten with ten being the most expensive, Apex One is an eight."
"Apex One has a high cost."
