Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Doesn't have daily updates, which is important for healthcare IT
I face challenges with the exclusion policy - it still scans folders we told it not to, causing issues. When we contact support, they tell us to update the latest agent, but we can't do that immediately due to medical device protocols and validation testing. I wish support would try to understand our issues better instead of giving this standard response. The machine learning feature they use often tells us to upgrade the agent or add things to the exclusion list, which isn't unacceptable. It's a very good and new technology as a tool and antivirus. But sometimes, it doesn't work properly with our medical devices and products, quarantining files it shouldn't even after we add them to exclusions. This is tricky for us.

I have no idea if I use some automation functions. I can't find any disadvantages; maybe that is because many companies haven't used it. I would prefer to see some features such as AI in antivirus solutions. I appreciate reporting, but it could be better with monthly reporting or auto-generated monthly reports.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has absolutely improved the way our organization functions, we are more secure, it is giving us more peace of mind, and it has found malicious activity happening on our endpoints that probably would not have been detected if we didn't have it."
"The most valuable features are the fact that it was running in the background and it would intercept any weird stuff, and the fact that it would send things directly to the cloud for sandboxing. It's quite practical."
"Traps is quite a stable product. Once it was properly deployed and configured, you have nothing to be worried about."
"It'll not slow down your system when compared to others."
"There are a lot of lead solutions in this space, however, Palo Alto is number one."
"If the user leaves our premises or network, Palo Alto Traps will still be on that endpoint and will still apply our policies."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks has helped lighten the load of our security analysts because it was the major tool that we were using and the one we utilized most."
"I don't have to do much monitoring with it; I don't have to have anybody manually looking at this, it gives us reports, and it lets us know if something needs to be addressed, and we can easily address it."
"The CylancePROTECT agent is very low on CPU usage, so it has virtually no adverse impact on my servers, desktops, or workstations."
"The product works pretty well; it does a good job catching viruses, and while we haven't had a chance to test against any kind of ransomware attack, I know it works great and I'm not worried about its capabilities in that respect."
"What's most valuable in CylancePROTECT is the optics feature. I also like its easy-to-use and user-friendly dashboard and monitoring system."
"The most valuable features of CylancePROTECT are its powerful machine-learning capabilities and predictive intelligence."
"On the management side, we liked the way it displays things."
"The Application Guard and ByteGuard are useful features."
"I like the AI and mathematical components that they use."
"One of the best features of the solution is that it's easy to deploy."
"I can put tons of load on it."
"I like the Panda Security Adaptive Defense cloud usages, everything is on a single plane of glass like the dashboards, and I also like the information I can get about the computers itself."
"The solution itself is great."
"It's quite easy to manage, which is a good thing."
"The deployment of Panda Security Adaptive Defense is easy and convenient."
"I think they are very satisfied with Panda Security because it is quite simple to use."
"The patch management module is very important."
"The detection capabilities for malicious activities are effective."

Cons

"It'll help if customization was easier."
"It is not a suitable solution if you are looking for a single product with multiple features such as DLP, encryption, rollback, etc."
"It's very time-consuming to log support issues and the people that answer the tickets aren't very knowledgeable."
"It is not easy to sell Cortex XDR, not because it isn't a good tool."
"We would also like to have advanced tech protection and email scanning."
"The solution needs better reports. I think they should let the customer go in and customize the reports."
"The connection to the internet has not performed as expected."
"Cortex XDR is trickier to configure than other Palo Alto products. This is one area where we are not so satisfied."
"Technical support is bad. I am not happy with the level of support they offer."
"Enhancing the product's detection rates and streamlining the user interface for easier management in daily operations would be beneficial improvements."
"The security scripting needs improvement. It needs deeper security for scripting."
"It was not effective. There were a lot of false positives, even when we use Adobe, and everybody uses Adobe, which is not a threat."
"The management console needs a little maturity in how it presents data and allows the administrator to drill down or search across systems."
"If they can add more features on top of their Persona feature that would be ideal."
"I would not rate this solution in the top five for things like presenting information, or ease of use."
"The AI of CylancePROTECT has room for improvement. I'm on a trial license of SentinelOne, and its AI is much better than what's on CylancePROTECT."
"I'd like them to offer a better way to scan the hardware to detect whether they are valid."
"I think there was a little complexity in deployment when I actually deployed WatchGuard EPDR."
"The product can improve in several ways."
"WatchGuard EPDR does have areas for improvement. One significant gap is the lack of a virtual patching feature integrated into the endpoint security. This would be particularly useful for endpoints running operating systems that are no longer supported, such as Windows 7."
"Needs a service desk system to link up with endpoint protection and email protection."
"Panda Adaptive Defense 360 is not compatible with certain network devices like access points, switches, or routers, which would be an area for improvement."
"Occasionally, we suffer from little bugs that give us the wrong message."
"It would be nice if Panda Security Adaptive Defense could come out with remote desktop usage."
