Impressive flexibility and support enhance integration and performance
The best feature of Blue Prism that I value the most is the simplicity of their pricing and licensing model, which is easy to understand. The tool is very robust and, being a pioneer in the sector, it is also very stable, particularly in finance where many companies rely on Blue Prism for its reliability and security standards. From a developer perspective, I find developing on Blue Prism simple, clean, and intuitive, making maintenance considerably easier compared to other tools. These AI features have helped in developing scalable and flexible solutions for my customers, as I worked on use cases that involved natural language processing to turn free text into structured data, enabling automation of previously unautomatable tasks. Additionally, I processed voice feedback for sentiment analysis and information extraction, making interactions more intuitive and voice-driven for customers.

Simplifies integrations and is suitable for large companies
Sometimes, when our company develops using the latest technology, the knowledge is not yet cycled down to the tool's support team. The tool's support team is not mature enough to handle the tool. The promotion of a feature before it is mature may cause issues, and I feel that sometimes the deployment of such features is a little too early. The tool will release a feature, but it will have bugs in it. We face challenges because the tool's team doesn't have the knowledge to deal with the issues in the product's new features. When SAP develops something, if the tool's team doesn't know how to support it, it becomes a problem because now we have to access developers to get the information that is not readily available.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use Blue Prism for automating business tools related to HR and finance by submitting human interaction from the computer."
"Blue Prism takes good security measures and is user friendly."
"It helps us reduce the number of people involved in mundane tasks, and in the case of Absa it has really impacted them, the way the customer interacts with the organization when it comes to certain processes."
"The most valuable feature is the design studio and its ease of use."
"One of the most powerful features in Blue Prism is exception handling. It's one of the features that really differentiates it from other platforms."
"The entire tool is valuable because it is an enterprise tool, on par with other tools like Automation Anywhere or UiPath with OCR/ICR facilities, analytics, and a complete package for enterprise-level security, offering the highest level of security as compared to any other tool."
"The object design way of implementing things actually brings a lot of reusability for us because you can design your objects once and leverage them in multiple automations."
"Access to the SQL database allows for extra capabilities."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is that it offers an integrated development environment."

Cons

"Its pricing is sometimes higher. Its price can be better. Its presale support should be increased. Currently, its presale support is very less. System integrators generally position Blue Prism in front of customers. Though they have an ecosystem, they don't have people who can train for the partner ecosystem. They have to increase the presales consultants for partners. In addition, their L1 and L2 support can also be improved."
"The only issue I have found in Blue Prism is an archiving issue once you have a huge database size, so the archiving is quite slow on Blue Prism's side."
"Blue Prism can improve a lot. The interaction with Google Chrome can be massively improved. I know in the next version there are slight improvements. We don't know how much, but we are comparing them. At this moment, Google Chrome is a massive issue within the toolset, due to the way Google Chrome receives updates regularly but Blue Prism is unable to cope. The spy method of Google Chrome is not as user-friendly as Internet Explorer is. However, Internet Explorer is being discontinued from their support, therefore it's not the best browser to be using. This has caused us major issues in the last six months."
"The key value of Blue Prism is also its main weakness because Blue Prism is quite connected to its data, so anything you do on Blue Prism is logged on the database."
"Everyone uses Workday and Salesforce and all that stuff. If they had specific plugins to interact with these enterprise tools, that would be very helpful."
"If you are looking into processing invoices then Blue Prism is not the tool that I would choose because the others have better OCR capabilities."
"Navigation within the UI could be improved."
"The initial setup is not easy and it is more difficult than other solutions."
"The tool's support team is not mature enough to handle the tool."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license for Blue Prism is very straightforward, we only need one license."
"It's an expensive product. For what they are providing in terms of capabilities and features for the price, I would rate the pricing an eight out of ten."
"Blue Prism has a higher cost with respect to RPA enablement, particularly if you are trying to start with RPA."
"The solution is expensive."
"Licensing is on a yearly basis."
"It is a bit higher in cost as compared to Automation Anywhere and UiPath. The rate also differs from client to client. Margins are also important when it comes to costing and licensing. There are some additional costs involved besides the standard licensing costs. You have the development team cost, which includes the project manager, development team, analyst, and testers. You also need a team manager. You also have the tools cost, architecture cost, platform cost, and the licensing cost of each bot."
"Other than your infrastructure, in terms of servers that you have to set up, I don't think that there are any costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"We really don't bear the costs. The cost is borne by the customer. It runs into about $100,000 per year per customer for Blue Prism. We normally budget around $30,000 for the first year for the hardware, setup, and people cost."
"The product is not cheaply priced."
