Consolidated cloud security has reduced manual work and has automated vulnerability remediation
I elaborate on my rating of SentinelOne support by mentioning that there was some time where the troubleshooting took a longer time. In fact, there were many meetings going on. The availability of the document on the internet is on a lesser side because as an engineer, I would want to know about the troubleshooting aspects of this particular tool. When I am facing a customer, I do not prefer to bring the vendor to every call and try to resolve it, as it takes months and months. It would be better to have a training session with the engineer on site to explain and train properly. This is not the case with SentinelOne, so this is the only thing I have a complaint about. I do not have any other room for improvement to suggest within SentinelOne itself. However, I would really want the AI assistant for the threat hunting part to be more accessible. They have it, but they are making it licensed, so it is a bit on the higher end.

Multi-cloud, good scanning, and offers extensive guides
The challenge is that they charge you per resource. We had an issue where Google Cloud was generating secrets for our application configurations by the hundreds, which we would be charged by Bridgecloud. Our price would have surged to an insane amount due to the automatically generated secrets that we don't even use for anything, which isn't part of our security concern. What we would like to know is if there is a way that we could exclude those from our resources so that we're not billed for that. We don't monitor that. They ignored me for a month through four emails asking about that. They were just totally unresponsive. Then after a month, I said, "I guess you don't want our business." And they responded, "Oh, we're sorry to hear that." I'd say "You're sorry to hear that? Why didn't you respond to any of my emails?" If you're trying to pay them less money, then they want to get rid of you. They don't want to talk to you. That's what it came across as. It's not like we weren't looking at spending thousands of dollars a month with them. We just weren't looking at spending $8,000 versus $2,000. That was a bit frustrating. Generally, I do like their product. It's a useful product. It's good. We wanted to use it. However, since they blew us off, it left a bad taste in our mouths. Their sales team needs a little bit of a jostle to get themselves together. We'd like to see better monitoring and the ability to deny certain resources from being scanned.

It helped us be more aware of what our security posture is, but not all of the features work in my environment
I would say CloudPassage is very useful for certain things. If you just want a few modules then focus on what you need and negotiate the price based on the individual module, rather than looking at the whole thing, because I didn't find all the modules very useful. Also, use Splunk in combination with it if you want reporting. I would give CloudPassage at least a seven out of 10. I rate it on the high-end because of the customer support - I've never seen any support that is comparable to that, it's very good, excellent. The support staff actually care, they actually follow up; it's very nice. And CloudPassage really listens to its customers. The product itself is very nice if you're only looking to check off your compliance requirements, but if you're looking for more of dashboarding and things like that, CloudPassage is improving but it's not quite there.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security offers three key features: vulnerability management notifications, cloud configuration assistance, and security scanning."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to gain deep visibility into the workloads inside containers."
"Singularity Cloud Security's most valuable features are its ease of scalability and comprehensive security measures."
"My favorite feature is Storyline."
"The remediation process is good."
"They're responsive to feature requests. If I suggest a feature for Prisma, I will need to wait until the next release on their roadmap. Cloud Native Security will add it right away."
"Support has been very helpful and provides regular feedback and help whenever needed. They've been very useful."
"It's positively affected the communication between cloud security, application developers, and AppSec teams."
"With any Palo Alto product that they put out, they typically have a very extensive amount of documentation behind it, and their technical account management team is almost unrivaled."
"The software itself is good software and does great things."
"New users don't have too many problems with the product. They have a lot of training documentation around it."
"In cases where they have automatic remediations, you can click a button and it'll just fix the configuration for you."
"CloudPassage allowed us to implement changes that affected hundred of servers within our environments in seconds."
"Our scores let us know when to trigger workflow to go out in a patch, it has reduced the amount of time we had to take to manually verify software and check our updates, and it helped us be more aware of what our security posture is."
"Policies are very easy to manage on a day-to-day basis."
"Key features are the Software Vulnerability Assessment and the CSM, which is the configuration check."

Cons

"I find the platform somewhat clunky at times, and SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security does not always give me accurate data, which could also be due to fine tuning on our end."
"Response time can be improved because not all things are perfect in every product, whether CrowdStrike or Trend Micro."
"A two-month grace period for extended searches would be a valuable improvement."
"One area that could be improved in SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security is their policies; the way they have configured the policies could be enhanced."
"The cost has the potential for improvement."
"There's room for improvement in the graphic explorer."
"There is scope for more application security posture management features. Additionally, the runtime protection needs attention."
"SentinelOne currently lacks a break glass account feature, which is critical for implementing Single Sign-On."
"The biggest issue that I see companies run into is that they immediately think that, "Oh, this solution will be right, simply due to the name." But that's the same issue Splunk runs into. People will immediately jump to Splunk being the best SIEM tool, just because they're the largest. When in reality, QRadar, LogRhythm, and all these other ones are performing similar functions and would actually fit better in some people's environments. Therefore, it's important a company does its homework and does not assume one size fits all."
"Before the Palo Alto acquisition, BridgeCrew had a reputation of them not being the best, however, since having that additional support from Palo Alto, I haven't heard of any issues."
"However, since they blew us off, it left a bad taste in our mouths."
"We'd like to see better monitoring and the ability to deny certain resources from being scanned."
"Anything outside of the software vulnerability management and the CSM, things like the GhostPort, need some improvement. The dashboard is in beta. It looks really good, I wish it would come out of beta."
"The reports and graphs are unintuitive."
"The reports and graphs are unintuitive."
"Of all the advertised functions, I only find two things that really work in my environment, even though I wanted to use all of them. They're not flexible enough to be used."
"Of all the advertised functions, I only find two things that really work in my environment, even though I wanted to use all of them."
"In the CSM module the policies are really hard to work with it. It is not very flexible at all. I would suggest that they change that. Right now, the scan is based on the group that the server is in. What happens if the server is in multiple groups?"

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Their pricing appears to be based simply on the number of accounts we have, which is common for cloud-based products."
"As a partner, we receive a discount on the licenses."
"I am not involved in the pricing, but it is cost-effective."
"The licensing is easy to understand and implement, with some flexibility to accommodate dynamic environments."
"The cost for PingSafe is average when compared to other CSPM tools."
"Pricing is based on modules, which was ideal for us."
"The features included in PingSafe justify its price point."
"It is cost-effective compared to other solutions in the market."
Information not available
"CloudPassage is a little bit on the expensive side. So my suggestion is that the company lower its price point a wee bit or sell modules, separate them in modules, because I only find two things that are useful to me, yet I pay for four or five modules. It didn't seem like it was a fair deal."
"We also evaluated VMware NSX, but the pricing and features available in a CloudPassage implementation were decisive in deciding to go with CP."
