A reliable solution for SSL offloading and to encrypt outside traffic
If you are responsible for monitoring the logs in F5, it isn't very easy. The format is complicated compared to different vendors. For example, Fortinet and Cisco have feasible formats for sending and fetching logs. Suppose I'm monitoring the logs and everything, and when I am retrieving logs from F5, I want to know whether it is regular traffic or any abnormality is happening. The logs itself is not user-friendly. It may not give you a clear way of what's happening. You have to go through different websites and work on it. You have to waste so much time on it.

Real-time monitoring has improved our banking API performance and supports detailed business transaction analysis
The real-time monitoring is what we can see for anything that is needed in terms of CPU, memory, or the connections or the sessions related. It's real-time monitoring of performance of each of the components, which is what we need and use all the time. It's highly effective, I would say. Infrastructure visibility, transaction monitoring, to check the actual user experience in terms of the response time, MRT and all those things. We do the component monitoring like the API performance and the connections and all those things, but we also do the business process monitoring and business transaction monitoring.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"From our experience, it really helps managers in measuring application SLAs and viewing historical performance data."
"Each had strengths in one area or another, but CA covered the majority of our needs end-to-end."
"We were previously using Dynatrace, then we shifted to AppDynamics because it was more convenient."
"It improves our organization by providing the right alerts, and there are so many parameters to choose from that it allows us to set the right level of alerting mechanism for approximately one hundred and twenty services."
"Splunk AppDynamics is known for its comprehensive capabilities and functionality, providing a 360-degree view of application performance."
"What I like the most about Splunk AppDynamics is the end-to-end observability for the application, along with traces."
"A solution like AppDynamics is a definite advantage because it can pinpoint the areas that the person(s) reviewing the issue need to focus on, making the technicians a lot faster in remediating issues that an application is presenting."
"In my experience, it's easy to use. There's nothing complex to learn or fear. You can quickly adapt to it without the need for extensive training."
"A way that it has improved my organization is from its notifications, as we get predictive alerts on our mobile app for mission-critical applications, and these on-target notifications have improved my organization."
"The most valuable feature is just the sheer visibility it gives us, especially being on the performance team."

Cons

"Pricing makes little sense. We had examples where it would be cheaper to have two basic accounts than one intermediate."
"The RBMS component is limited as you can only record using Internet Explorer."
"I would say that the support is 50/50. It is not very fast and there is definitely room for improvement in terms of support."
"If you have a single URL and all the operations are coming in as part of the header, you will not be able to segregate them for different actions."
"I would like to see more artificial intelligence and machine learning brought in to monitor the statement and payment sum issues we have."
"I think a little more control over which transactions get that depth attached to them would be good."
"Scalability-wise, I think it's a little limited on an enterprise-wide scale."
"We constantly need to improve our alert mechanism because we get a lot of false-positive alerts. These are not real errors. In addition, for end-user monitoring, sometimes, we are not able to catch all user activities. Because of not being able to follow the user activity from the start to the end, we are missing out on the performance issues."
"More native support for other hardware is needed because having to install various extensions and perform extra setup for different devices is really challenging, and not as easy or straightforward as it is in other products."
"The cost for AppDynamics is becoming a challenge, as well as the apparent AppDynamics move from a Magic Quadrant point of view."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The pricing for AppDynamics is expensive, but it is possible to negotiate special pricing through bids."

"The pricing is quite comparable to similar solutions in the market. All these solutions at the moment are cheap, but it is like paying for insurance; you pay insurance to avoid major damage."
"AppDynamics Database Monitoring is expensive. I rate it a seven to eight out of ten."
"As compared to other applications, its price is moderate. Its price is neither very high nor very low."
"AppDynamics is an expensive solution."
"I was not involved with the procurement of AppDynamic, but I believe it's expensive."
