A compliance manager is able to see things he wouldn't otherwise be able to see, although I can't run it across all systems because some of them don't have all the required configurations.
This solution exposes things that are going on. Here's an analogy: the first time you look at drop of water in a microscope, you don’t know what things are floating around. You see things that you want to investigate, but you don’t know whether they're good or bad. With this solution, a compliance manager is able to see things he wouldn't otherwise be able to see. He sees both the good and the bad, makes a determination of whether they're indeed good or bad, and then takes the necessary steps or actions to take the good and get rid of the bad. In this way, it allows him to do better things with regard to security control, certificates, role management, and other role-based access.

Has an easy initial setup process, but its technical support services need improvement
The product's technical support could be better. The integration project requires a lot of technical details, so we need to find it quickly and easily. There was a large community of knowledge in the past. We kept it together and got the results. The community that works around the particular technical issue is shrinking. It used to be a specialized community that would help with the process. These particular areas need improvement. Broadcom is still using a hybrid cloud model, with some workloads on-premises and some in the cloud. They must start with the cloud adoption and move as many workloads to the cloud as possible. The on-premises environment is becoming stable. They need to rebuild that cost and the software. The product's pre-sales, technical support, and installation could also improve.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With this solution, a compliance manager is able to see things he wouldn't otherwise be able to see."
"It scales fine; it's one of the better products out there."
"Automated provisioning removes manual labor and manual provisioning."
"Word mining and risk campaigns are the most valuable features of this solution."
"The support's been good from CA."
"It's provided a centralized platform to manage the lifecycle of all identities across different endpoint systems such as Active Directory, Salesforce, etc."
"This product has allowed me to take the repetitive tasks away from a person so the value of a person is better."
"It provides a robust provisioning facility which enables admin configuration, and complex provisioning rules are quick to change when business requirements do."
"What I found most valuable in Symantec Identity Governance and Administration is its simple GUI. It's also easy to deploy compared to other products. With other products, you have to install the Windows version inside the Windows machine on all units, but with Symantec Identity Governance and Administration, it can work offline, so the solution is a little bit easier than other systems."

Cons

"Unfortunately, right now it's just eye candy and, despite the ability for a compliance manager to see things he wouldn't otherwise see, it still hasn't provided the benefits we had hoped."
"Because it's software on our network, there are sometimes load-balancing issues or latency delays."
"Lack of a comprehensive attestation component/product and easy to use workflow that supports both attestation and provisioning."
"Version changes are long and tiresome."
"The Identity tool needs to do more kinds of reporting for audit purposes. It doesn't really track any of the metrics that are useful to us, at this point."
"At the moment, stability is so-so."
"We have challenges because of the customization – it's difficult to do upgrades."
"The administrative part is not very intuitive."
"The drawback with the CA Identity Manager is they don't have a connector to HR systems like SAP, or PeopleSoft, or Workday."
