We use Carbon Black for monitoring.  We haven't experienced any significant incidents, yet. So far, we've mostly been weeding out all the false positives.  Carbon Black provides an overview of all our assets and their status.  Carbon Black's support could be better.  I have used Carbon Black…

Customer security is enhanced with software and update detection while licensing process needs improvement
A quick specific example of how I use Field Effect MDR to keep my customers secure is that it helps me identify computers that need updates, even when I believe they are already updated. Field Effect MDR finds software and Windows updates that aren't being completed, which I find very valuable.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The greatest value of MDR involves the tests, reporting and alerts, so that we may respond immediately."
"The installation process is quick and easy."
"The valuable features are threat hunting, threat intelligence feeds, and it culls all the activities of the endpoint. Additionally, the ML and AI engines are really good."
"Carbon Black provides an overview of all our assets and their status."
"The most valuable aspects of Covalence for me are the exceptional customer service and the support from the dedicated team."
"It's running in the background and does a packet-level analysis of everything that comes in. It also has an auto-response feature, so if something gets through and is clicked on, or somehow gets through the network, it gets isolated and quarantined, and we get notified."
"We are getting visibility over the network, not just for those hosts that have a Field Effect EDR agent but also things like the Internet of Things, guest networks, or rogue devices. We definitely have visibility into all network traffic, which is very cool."
"I get alerts if there's malicious activity or restrictions, should they any suspicious activity emerge."
"The solution's advanced detection behaviors, automated notifications and responses, and automated remediation behaviors are valuable features."
"A quick specific example of how I use Field Effect MDR to keep my customers secure is that it helps me identify computers that need updates, even when I believe they are already updated."
"The standout feature is its continuous 24/7 monitoring of all network traffic, providing unparalleled vigilance."
"What I like the most about Field Effect Covalence is the ease of deployment, the fact that it's cost-effective to roll out, and it is reasonable."

Cons

"In the future, it would be great if they could provide endpoint management and the ADR solution together in this package."
"Carbon Black's support could be better."
"As the solution has changed hands, I expect some changes in licensing and in support. It remains to be seen if that will be good or bad."
"They put too much detail into the emails."
"One limitation is that if someone takes their laptop outside the office building, the DNS firewall provides minimal coverage, and we are unable to generate reports."
"They could use more third-party integrations with other MSP tools."
"The ConnectWise PSA integration is two-way but does not send our comments back to the Field Effect portal."
"Covalence should provide a live view of the endpoint because the endpoint view in the portal is 5 to 15 minutes behind the actual status of the endpoint and its vulnerabilities. When it doesn't update with the actual status, it makes managing those things harder because sometimes something gets updated, and one of those vulnerabilities has gone away, but that doesn't appear in the ARO."
"I'd like improved visibility into the backend data where logs are stored, along with integrations with a wider range of products."
"Field Effect MDR could broaden its cloud application integrations to integrate better with Office 365, Azure, Salesforce, etc. They integrate about 15 to 20 out of the box. I'd love to see a lot more than that."
"The tagging of ARO closure has room for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of this solution is inexpensive compare with others. The company went out of its way to provide us with a favorable discount. However, there is room for improving the current licensing model and the price of some of the fees. The model is complex and could be streamlined."
"The cost of the solution is high."
"Field Effect Covalence's pricing is just right."
"It is a little pricey. It is a little on the high end, but we are continuing to use it. We signed the contract and have not canceled, so we find value in having it."
"We were particularly impressed with their pricing model, which charges per user rather than per system."
"We're currently enrolled in the volume package, which offers tiered pricing based on usage."
"Covalence is cost-effective."
"It is on the high end, but it is worth it for the service that you get from them."
"A top-tier competitor to Field Effect in Magic Quadrant that we had been using until our switch to Field Effect was a great product, but each capability had an additional charge. We had to license modules separately, and each of those add-ons had to be added onto its own consumption and agreement. It was a nightmare from a billing perspective because we had multiple agreements, and each one had a jagged anniversary or a renewal anniversary. It was a nightmare, whereas Field Effect MDR is one product."

Pricing was initially a concern, but the recent updates have resolved that by offering a more accessible buying cost.

One way Field Effect MDR can be improved is through its licensing process, which is not ideal. The licensing process is difficult because I have to access a separate website to complete it.
