A reliable backup product which needs little management
For most technical users the setup and initial deployment are fairly straightforward and once deployed it 99% of the time looks after itself. Installation of the agents is similar to most other products in that it has an install wizard to guide you, the accompanying documentation is also very useful to assist wherever you are in the agent install and policy setup process. Normally our customers' IT team does the deployment of agents, however, this isn't a daunting task unless you are dealing with multiple servers to protect the product. On a server-by-server basis, the deployment doesn't take long. From the MSP side of things, the infrastructure sitting behind the scenes doesn't take too much to install, configure and maintain.

Enhanced filtering for advocate emails
Quorum provides an elevated ability to filter on everything from people's location to age to their voting history. This is an extreme feature that will help our advocacy department a lot. It encompasses the ability to formulate emails and calls to action across regions. Their platform is more advanced than our previous one. It provides a smooth training experience and easy terminology for those in the advocacy world.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I find the BMR/image and the recovery pieces are valuable."
"It seems reliable and easy to use."
"The solution is a free engine to help work with the container."
"The solution is very stable."
"Technical support handled all our issues quickly and effectively."
"The Granular Restore of SQL feature has been a lifesaver more times than I can count. One of the main reasons for looking at Carbonite was their support for platforms like AIX and AS/400 Series."
"The advice that I have for people looking into using Carbonite Server is that it seems reliable and easy to use."
"It does not slow down your computer or use a lot of resources as it works."
"The ease of recovering from data loss is huge, as well as the peace of mind, knowing that if something does happen, I can have a replacement running in a matter of minutes."
"When it comes to recovering what you need from a backup, it's really easy. You just drill through the directory, find the file and the date that you want, and click to recover. You then pick the directory you want to save it in. Usually, it takes a minute or two and it's done. It's quick and easy."
"The most valuable feature is spinning up a ready-to-go VM in a test or production environment that is based on a backup stored on the Quorum device."
"It is a very scalable solution."
"For those considering Quorum OnQ, it's a good bet they can play."
"The solution is very cost effective."
"The most useful feature is the one-click recovery."
"Quorum OnQ provides an elevated ability to filter on everything from people's location to age to their voting history."

Cons

"The Hyper-V backup has room for improvement."
"It could be a little bit easier or faster to be able to access data files without having to download anything."
"The stability has room for improvement."
"They do not yet have USB recovery but they are adding it in coming releases."
"I would like to see an improvement on the management user interface, as well as Kellion integrations."
"The only thing that I would like to see improved is related to marketing. Currently, it is very difficult to find the right paper and stuff for me. Their marketing department should provide better information because currently, it is very difficult to find information on the internet. It was bought over by OpenText, and you won't be able to find a lot of information about this solution on their site. They should also provide training facilities for commercial purposes. Some of my colleagues recently went for pilot training, and they were technical. If I want to get trained, the training has to be more commercial. Currently, there is no such training for users like me."
"The support for object storage isn't quite there yet. Its public cloud support can be improved. I would love to see the public cloud support for object storage, and it would be great, but what I always hear from the folks at Carbonite is that in a lot of cases, it directly competes with their cloud offering. So, I don't know when or where that will go or if that will go anywhere, but we are hopeful to see something. The dashboard is a little outdated. If they gave it a facelift and put some better design around their dashboard, that would be tremendous. I generally care less about the visual aesthetics of an application as long as it does what it needed to do, which is true in the case of this solution. We also have the Microsoft 365 platform. Because they're two separate platforms, I have to log in to my Microsoft platform to manage it, and I have to log into my Carbonite server backup platform to manage it. Having these two coexist together in one management console is really what we're looking for, but we went for it knowing this. We also knew that there would be some integration coming down the road. So, we're again hoping to see some of that coming in 2021."
"The support for object storage isn't quite there yet; its public cloud support can be improved."
"The price is high and could be more competitive."
"The solution could do more by improving compatibility in terms of supporting other OS."
"It would be beneficial if file culling could be more granular."
"Quorum OnQ is limited and does not support all the Linux flavours, and it currently only supports Red Hat-based systems, for example, Ubuntu is not supported."
"They have radio buttons that allow multiselection, which is not intuitive. Also, the URL for our environments is the same, making it confusing for management when handling different departments with different needs."
"I don't love the scheduler, as I think that interface could use an overhaul."
"The cost could be reduced."
"One of the complaints from our customers is that the Quorum is expensive, and they question why it is on par with these other products."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its price is reasonable."
"The solution is open source."
"We pay 9,000 dollars per year for our license."
"The pricing is between $120 and $150 per year."
"When we quote the price of Quorum to customers, they find it expensive."
"The initial expenditure for us was a little under $40,000 for the recent renewal. For the first three years after that, other than electricity, there's no cost. After that, their support contract has to be renewed annually. We spent close to $6,000, between the two offices, for support."
"Quorum OnQ can be described as a medium-priced product...There are no ingress and egress charges in the product."
"The total for our current solution's licensing is about $14,000 for 12 servers for three years."
"The solution’s pricing is economical."
"The pricing is about $1,400 a month. It's a little bit on the higher side. But it's one of those situations where time is valuable for me. So if it costs a little bit more money for me to have a solution that just works and requires less of my day-to-day management, I'm willing to pay a little bit more."
"I am not sure how much it costs, but I know it's expensive."
"We have never questioned whether it is worth it because it so obviously is a great value."
