Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Dashboard customization is needed for improvements. While the centralized management is strong, the dashboard could offer more flexibility. It would be helpful to tailor views for different roles, such as IT or security support. Regarding needed improvements, custom report building could be enhanced. Current reports are informative, and a drag-and-drop builder would allow teams to create tailored views for compliance, executive summaries, or operational metrics. For further improvements, enhancing threat simulation and testing would be valuable. Building a threat simulation tool and adding native capabilities to simulate phishing, malware, or ransomware scenarios will help teams validate protection and train users without relying on third-party tools.

Delivers efficiency and agility with USB control limitations
One area where we lag is that, since we use everything from Heimdal, including XDR and other features, we also use the privilege manager feature called Elevation. What we lack is granular USB control. We have an issue where we can only switch USB on or off. I want to whitelist specific devices in the network, which I currently cannot do.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Being a cloud solution it is very flexible in serving internal and external connections and a broad range of devices."
"It is a simple platform to use."
"The most valuable for us is the correlation feature."
"One of the main benefits of the solution is its intelligence to correlate the events into an incident."
"The information the dashboard provides is very clear."
"We use it for malicious connections from malicious websites, to identify payloads that might be inside the traffic, to identify malicious processes or bugs that are running on the network, and any activities that tend to lead to data infiltration."
"The most valuable aspect of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks for me is its integration with AI detection, where we get to know the behavioral detection based on users, traffic patterns, and different services that we consume."
"Cortex is a very good total solution on the endpoints."
"The platform works on its own and it does not need to have an assigned employee to monitor how it's working, thus bringing efficiency into our company."
"The most useful feature so far has been having a functioning and up-to-date anti-malware scanner."
"A very good and robust antivirus solution."
"This solution is consistently implemented as part of the organization's endpoint security solution, combining global threat intelligence and next-generation advanced threat prevention engines."
"Compared to its competitors, Check Point Harmony Endpoint has advantages in areas like EDR and behavioral detection."
"Since deploying Check Point Harmony Endpoint, I have seen a clear reduction in security incidents, such as phishing and malware infections."
"The solution has good threat intelligence features."
"The solution is very stable; we are quite happy with the solution, and we have had very few issues with it."
"As compared to multiple solutions I have used in the past, Heimdal is a very agile and lightweight solution."

Cons

"It takes time to scan the servers and devices."
"It tends to do 99.9% of things. The only thing I'd like is single sign-on authentication into their cloud platform so that my users can be properly authenticated against it."
"Dashboards do not allow everyone to see what's happening."
"There are some default policies which sometimes affect our applications and cause them to run around. In the hotel industry, we use a different type of data versus Oracle and SQL. By default, there are some policies which stop us from running properly. Because of this, the support level is also not that strong. We have to wait to get a results."
"In general, the price could be more competitive."
"If Palo Alto reduces the pricing slightly for their products, it would make them more scalable in markets such as India and globally for cybersecurity."
"Cortex XDR should have a lightweight agent, and the agent size should not be heavy."
"There's room for improvement with Mac device installations, which can be challenging."
"Check Point should improve on their patch management by releasing patches more frequently, such as on a weekly basis, to stay ahead of potential vulnerabilities."
"Check Point Antivirus' performance could be faster. It needs to include app-based support to upload screenshots of issues. It needs to add timely and regular updates. The dashboards and reporting features need to offer more efficiency."
"They need to focus on more scalability (as much as possible) so that the solution can run across all supported OS."
"Need more documentation."
"Support needs improvement. Currently, support is primarily via email, which leads to longer response times."
"Check Point Harmony Endpoint could be improved in a few small areas, such as making the initial setup and onboarding more intuitive for new teams, providing more flexible custom reporting options, and reducing the performance impact on older devices."
"The dashboarding for Check Point Harmony Endpoint could be improved."
"One thing I can suggest for Check Point Harmony Endpoint is that the endpoint agent is very heavy, and sometimes it feels like due to the heavy endpoint size, our PC is slow, so that can be improved."
"What we lack is granular USB control. We have an issue where we can only switch USB on or off."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the product is not very economical."
"Very costly product."
"Our license will require renewal in August, after which the maintenance will continue as usual."
"If one wishes to work with another team or large number of users at a future point, he must purchase a license for them."
"The solution has one subscription for endpoint protection and one subscription for detection and response. The two licenses combined give you the BRO version."
"The price is on the higher side, but it's okay."
"Every customer has to pay for a license because it doesn't work with what you get from a managed services provider."
"The pricing is okay, although direct support can be expensive."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"The solution is too pricey."
"I bought them for 12 months and I genuinely cannot remember what I paid for them. I think it's about 100 pounds per user per year, so about 10 pounds a month per person."
"Initial monies replacing all AVs with a single product is about £10k."
"We implement this solution with a yearly subscription and there are no extra costs."
"Check Point Antivirus is an expensive solution, especially for clients that don't have as many endpoints. Check Point Antivirus has a free trial for one month, and within the trial period, there's no limit to the number of endpoints it can support, but when the trial expires, you'll have to buy the license, which covers one year. You can't buy a license for the solution without being a Check Point partner first."
"The solution is reasonable, but there are cheaper solutions out there."
"The pricing is very expensive. You need to buy the appliance and subscription as well."
