Has improved security and enabled remote work flexibility across teams
The best features Check Point Remote Access VPN offers are its security features, which stand out to me. Whenever we are giving the remote access VPN to any employees or vendors, we can specify and control particular access. If we want to give access to a particular IP only, we can achieve that via this feature, and we also apply security features such as antivirus and anti-spyware while giving access to any employees or partners. The ability to control and specify access with Check Point Remote Access VPN, such as limiting to particular IPs or applying antivirus and anti-spyware, makes our environment safe from cyber threats and any types of malicious activities or accessing our private data. We control this through the feature by applying security policies that allow particular users. After deploying Check Point Remote Access VPN solution, I can say that our productivity has maximized. Users are working from home and even working 24/7. If they want, they can access our resources at any time, providing flexibility to work from anywhere. Employees say that sometimes they are not available during the working hour, but they can work from home at their flexible timing, needing access to our private network resources. They sit at home or any remote site and connect to our network to work, which is very good.

Security enhances through autonomous protection and strong support while multi-factor authentication secures access
I haven't utilized the high availability and scalability features of SonicWall SMA yet because I've never had a need to. I don't know where they can focus their energy on continuous improvements, as I haven't been looking at what they're releasing. We're a small shop, so we drop stuff in and manage it and do what we need to do to maintain it. If we run into an issue, we contact support. There's a learning curve, but it comes down to getting support to train you on the product, and then once you have the training you need, you're able to make the changes and updates that you need to.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Checkpoint is very strong and very reliable."
"Previously, we had around 15 corporate clients; through the COVID-19 pandemic, we have managed to grow and now have around 35 new corporate clients and more than 6,000 people connected by VPN, which has forced us to increase our infrastructure to support all these connections and have a stable, reliable, and, above all, scalable solution that can interconnect more clients."
"The majority of people say how excellent the remote access VPN service is and they stated that once connected to a VPN service, they never experience connectivity problems."
"To maintain the authorization of the connected user, Check Point provides multi-factor authentication for an RA VPN client to make sure legitimate users have access to resources."
"Setup using the manuals was easy."
"The main purpose of the product is for firewall purposes that we are using, and the VPN provides secure access for remote connections."
"Technical support has been excellent."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN has positively impacted my organization because we can connect our resources remotely with a secure network and secure channel."
"SonicWall SMA allows us to provide CML-based access to any user."
"The performance is good."
"I like the load balancing capability."
"I think they ask for a fair price."
"We are in Thailand and I'm very happy with the technical support."
"I am very satisfied with the technical support."
"I like the load balancing capability, it is very fast and it has a simple interface."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is they have IT consultants that know SonicWall."

Cons

"They need to increase their timeout. Right now, it will fail after ten seconds, however, it shouldn't fail until after 20 seconds."
"The product’s architecture is a bit distributed."
"We have noted some stability issues."
"In the case of URL translation of the VPN Web portal, the requests made from the front end to the back end weren't valid (due to the use of dynamic subdomains). In the case of host translations, the request was made to the same host, however, we cannot specify the ports, which, in our case, are used to redirect to different servers."
"The scalability needs improvement."
"We tried using their authenticator at first, but that is not good."
"Everything functions perfectly with Check Point Remote Access VPN based on my knowledge, but the KB documents for configuration are limited and could be improved."
"The main area for improvement is pricing. Another area could be integrating MFA authentication directly into the solution instead of using separate benchmark tools for implementation."
"SonicWall's reporting isn't good. Reports should be part of a data plan. The login mechanism should be improved. It would be helpful if the client could use an agent to log in. An agent-server model would improve the performance of the RDB, which consumes a lot of bandwidth."
"This solution is very slow, and the competitors have much higher speeds."
"The timed synchronization between the network appliance needs improvement."
"The product itself is very good, but Dell needs to work on product visibility in their advertising."
"The overall menu is not very user-friendly and it could be easier."
"The problem is that when combined with what the client already has, there are two different logins and two different management systems, and these should be consolidated into a single interface."
"The solution has 2FA, it will generate a token and send it to an email, but multifactor authentication is not available. I would suggest that there should be MFA integration and provided with the appliance."
"There are some features that are available on Palo Alto or Cisco that don't exist. The solution could integrate better with other platforms."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I give the price of the solution a five out of ten."
"Regarding pricing, as a global customer, we get a big discount. For us, it's a good return on investment. We need to pay for additional features we want to enable. It seems cheaper than other vendors, but I can't say what it would cost an average customer."
"The solution is pretty expensive. The rating is an eight."
"I can say that the licensing costs are charged annually."
"Organizations that already have the Check Point NGFW need to purchase an additional license to have access to the VPN functionality."
"There is a license required for this solution."
"The price of this product is good."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN is not expensive and the cost is annual."
"The platform has medium pricing."
"The cost of the licensing is based on the maximum number of concurrent users, and it costs a lot to add them."
"This solution is priced well and we currently have the maximum number of licenses allowed."
"I don't know about the pricing of the SSL-VPN box. I know the SSL-VPN software is free. Global VPN client, by comparison, is licensed for around $150 or something like that. But the SSL-VPN software is free. It is already built-in with the box."
"All the costs are included in a bundled license."
"Our licenses are stackable and can be anywhere from five users to a million users."
