Great firewalls, VPN, and Intrusion prevention capabilities
Some features that could be improved are advanced threat protection, sandboxing, and vulnerability management. Another point is to improve the technical support provided by Check Point UTM-1. Although the company offers different standards, including basic and premium, by mail and by telephone, they present a very large deficiency in the time it takes to comply with the provisions of the SLA. Coordinating a meeting is complicated by the schedules. The documentation should also be improved by having it unified.

Robust protection has blocked external threats and provides clear visibility into user activity
Sophos Firewall offers multiple features, including IPS, IDS, ATP, NDR, XOps, web protection, application protection, web server protection, and many more. Out of all those features, I find web protection and application protection to be very helpful and valuable in my daily work. Sophos Firewall has positively impacted my organization by preventing outside threats, allowing me to easily monitor my users, and configuring any rule for any user regarding what they need to use and what I am restricting for the particular user. I can share that it has improved productivity because if anyone could ransom my network, they could demand money to decrypt the files, thus saving us money, time, and providing reliability.

"Check Point is not cheap when compared to other solutions, but it provides high level security, and as an organization we are fully satisfied with this product."
"The pricing is reasonable for the performance and support we are getting."

"There are many valuable features."
"Overall, everything about the solution works well; we haven't had any issues at all, the features on offer are great, it has pretty much everything we need, and the solution is very user-friendly."
"The initial setup was straightforward."
"The product's initial setup phase was straightforward."
"The product has a console that is based in the cloud for all their products, and in this console, they have email security, firewall security, endpoint security, et cetera, and all of the products on offer in the console are very useful for us."
"Sophos offers strong features such as IPS and application control that are particularly valuable."
"The dashboard is customizable as well. It gives you the feature of including what you need to see as soon as you open the dashboard and to remove the non-necessary stuff, which varies from one organization to the next and from one IT manager to the next. And it has a wide variety of reports as well, template and customizable reports."

Cons

"Memory and processing power: These devices are strictly for small business applications."
"The solution should be more user-friendly."
"Some features that could be improved are advanced threat protection, sandboxing, and vulnerability management."
"Customer Service: Horrible. It takes them days, sometimes weeks, until they try to help, and then they don't help enough."
"Customer service is not their strong suite. It takes a lot of time until they fix anything, and it can be better to try and fix the issue without them."
"I am not able to see a demo."
"Technical support was very bad because the supplier who sold it to us, wasn't very supportive, and he wouldn't giving us direct links to the OEM."
"The interface needs improvement."
"Even though things work on the back end, we have encountered bugs in the solution."
"The VPN is in need of improvement."
"The support from the vendor needs to be improved."
"We recently did an upgrade on the Sophos XG firmware and we were surprised that after the upgrade, the automatic switch actually we were using did not work anymore."
"Scalability it is a bit limited. We did a sizing exercise before the purchase. But that was just to fit our current needs. There was no room for having an option to upgrade the device. The only option that we have if we are grow in the near future, is to go for another model with higher specs, which is actually more expensive. In other words it doesn't have that modularity ."
"Better instructions should be provided as part of the technical support so that we can understand the functionalities. This will help us to troubleshoot faster."
"The solution really needs some additional features like network access control."
"It would be beneficial if the platform provided more flexible support for a variety of devices."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This cost is between 3,000 and 5,000 euros per year, so some other solutions are cheaper and the pricing should be improved."
"The pricing is too high."

"The product is more expensive than one of its competitors."
"Sophos XG is not an expensive solution. If you are willing to pay more, then there is the Check Point firewall which is the best out of all the vendors."
"Currently, we have a contract for three years. It would be good if its price is reduced before we renew the contract. We will buy the equipment if it is cheaper."
"Sophos XGS is priced lower than some of its competitors, such as Fortinet"
"I can't recall the exact amount that was paid. It was likely around $12,000 or less - around $4,000 a year."
