I had prepared for COC and the client. I work as a vendor for a client using Flow Mount for network performance monitoring. I focus on resolving client-side issues related to Packy Performance and quality use. This involves addressing network device issues, specifically Cisco network devices One…

Real-time monitoring has improved our banking API performance and supports detailed business transaction analysis
The real-time monitoring is what we can see for anything that is needed in terms of CPU, memory, or the connections or the sessions related. It's real-time monitoring of performance of each of the components, which is what we need and use all the time. It's highly effective, I would say. Infrastructure visibility, transaction monitoring, to check the actual user experience in terms of the response time, MRT and all those things. We do the component monitoring like the API performance and the connections and all those things, but we also do the business process monitoring and business transaction monitoring.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The performance of Accedian Skylight is better than other vendors."
"It is not that expensive of a solution and produces tremendous value."
"The pricing of Accedian Skylight is really good; the sensors are low cost, their licensing model lets clients start small and grow as they need without being forced into expensive appliances or subscription models, and that is one of the things that we really like about offering it to our clients because they are not left out getting the right sort of information straightaway."
"I like this product because it is easy to use and it allows us to have a realistic vision of what is going on at the heart of our network."
"Capturing traffic [is very interesting]. Currently, with our configuration, we don't capture the payload of the packets, just the header. But when we want the body, the payload of the packets, we can do a PCAP, and then analyze it within Wireshark."
"If [the problem] is something related to HTTP or VoIP, then I can have a quick look into the protocols, a process which gives me some good ideas..."
"The response times, with the performance, are really interesting too, where you can see the packet loss."
"We have found this to be a very valuable toolset, and has paid for itself several times over."
"The most valuable feature is the fact that it can instrument without the developers having to do anything special or significant."
"The most valuable feature is that we can see how our end-users are interacting with our application across regions."
"AppDynamics Database Monitoring's dashboarding is its best feature."
"It is a good monitoring tool. Its stability is very good."
"The best feature of AppDynamics Browser Real-User Monitoring is that it lets you find errors in synthetic jobs ahead of the users."
"It’s great that APM monitors in real-time, and when we have an issue, we find out fairly quickly if there's a problem with our hardware."
"AppDynamics is the best fit as an Application Performance Management solution."
"I have found some of the valuable features of AppDynamics Database Monitoring to be once the installation is complete, you are able to quickly start receiving metrics, which is great. The user interface is also very user-friendly."

Cons

"So scalability, at the moment, is pretty bad for us now, because our modus operandi have totally shifted."
"Support for more VoIP systems, Avaya, etc."
"Human resource costs can be high when dealing with connection issues."
"This solution is expensive compared to some others."
"Human resource costs can be high when dealing with connection issues."
"The licensing of the virtual pollers is problematic because they are attached to the physical ESX on which they are installed."
"I would like to see some improvements in parts of their synthetic transactions, which includes all the latency, jitter, and throughput. I would like to see some Layer 7 analytics in there. I want to be able to do a DNS request, HTTP GET request, or even SIP call point-to-point or via registration."
"It needs the possibility to export data because it is not easy to see larger data sets, e.g., for one month."
"AppDynamics Database Monitoring would be a better product if it could support new technology, such as cloud technology."
"The cloud licensing needs to be improved. It's quite pricey."
"It does not support network monitoring, which should be included."
"We use the SaaS model. I wouldn't say I'm really, really comfortable with it yet."
"Improvements can be made in the area of AI integration."
"Maybe some more CPU power or something like that could be an area to improve."
"The application monitoring needs improvement. It needs to be easier for someone who isn't a proficient developer."
"AppDynamics is very expensive, if it were a little cheaper it would be more attractive to clients."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is cheaper than other competing products, which is better for our budgets."
"The pricing of Accedian Skylight is really good. The sensors are low cost. Their model to analytics for sensors is by license, endpoint, or session. With the probes for their analytics, if they get deployed virtually, they are free. The licensing is only based on flows. So, you can effectively deploy probes everywhere in your network. Then, if you want to look at a specific type of traffic, you can enter into it with a very low cost license. You can just use things like spam ports, mirrors, TAPs, and aggregators to optimize what sort of traffic you send to these analysis tools. Then, if you want to start looking at more, you can up your licensed as you go. You are not getting forced into expensive appliances or subscription models."
"We understand there's a significant cost difference, but have yet to investigate fully."
"It's not for free, clearly. But on the other hand, it offers very interesting functionality. We pay around €100,000."
"Pricing is a little bit expensive."
"The solution was previously well-regarded, but after being acquired by Accedian, the prices have significantly increased. This has made it challenging to sell the product due to its high cost. It is an expensive solution."
"The price is competitive overall, depending on the type of customer."
"It provides value and the cost is not huge."
"AppDynamics is priced on the higher side."
"AppDynamics Browser Real-User Monitoring does have licensing cost associated with it."
"The pricing model for AppDynamics could be better. You have to subscribe to a yearly or a three-year licensing, which isn't very handy. The solution is one of the most expensive in the market today."
"There is an annual cost to use this solution. The licensing model could be improved by making it more cost-effective."
"You are required to purchase licenses whether you use it or not. It is not pay-as-you-use."
"If one is expensive and ten is low price, I rate the product price as seven out of ten."
"I would like more flexible pricing: A pay-per-use model, rather than just a fixed-price model."
"The solution is highly expensive"
