Backup has protected our office data and now restores individual emails while admins configure settings
Although Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 is a Backup as a Service, it should give slight leverage to the admins to do more of their own configurations. When it comes to Software as a Service, we do need to agree on certain things, as we do not have much control over the software. If Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 can improve, it would be better. It could be slightly better, but it is acceptable. As long as support is provided in a timely manner, it is good. I cannot tell it is fully bad or fully good. If I were to give a rating of one to five, I might give 3.5 to four. Rather than giving a help database, which is an ocean of information to search through ourselves, we should be able to open a ticket and have them guide us on how to do it. As an end-user, different levels of admins exist—a fresh admin and a more experienced admin. They need to encourage us to open a ticket quickly, and from there they should guide us straightforwardly with the steps to follow to achieve the desired outcome.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The platform's most effective feature is quickly recovering virtual instances into a separate environment."
"Generally speaking from my experience, this solution is very good, but it also has some room for improvement."
"The most valuable feature is the built-in integration with Office 365, which helps us protect email accounts and servers. We use it on virtual servers on the cloud with Azure, or we can use an agent on physical servers."
"It’s amazing how the solution helps restore old data."
"Technical support in Veeam is good; if you face any issues, the response times are good and the engineers' quality is also good, most of the time."
"The tool is easy to use and straightforward regarding restoration and creating backups. It's user-friendly, providing results and sending alerts when something goes wrong."
"I have used the technical support a few times and they've been reasonably helpful."
"The solution is easy to use and stable and can be made to fit one's needs."
"The most valuable feature is that we don't need different agents to back up our files from different accounts."

Cons

"They could add more intelligence features in the workflow through automation."
"Microsoft currently saves only two months of conversation history, and it would be better if Veeam could focus on backing up more than two months of conversation data."
"I would like Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 to increase the speed to reduce the backup time."
"The solution could offer better reporting."
"The customer service and support response time can be improved."
"We will be evaluating whether we will continue using this solution in the future because it is not practical to keep it when it does not do the backups of all our users' information requiring us to have two solutions."
"In some instances, a customer is not necessarily backing up Microsoft 365. For instance, they might be backing up a large Oracle database. It would be nice if they could tweak it to compress the file, so it's easier to transfer a huge file."
"If clients are backing up onto tape, Veeam's newest versions don't really deal with that."
"I find that technical support can be improved because for people who are knowledgeable, it is good, whereas for people who are not, the support is too technical."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The additional cost is cloud storage, which the public cloud provider charges."
"From our perspective in South Africa, our biggest challenge is the exchange rate from the South African currency to the US dollar. This makes it a bit pricey for us. However, compared to other backup solutions available, I would rate the pricing at a nine out of ten. For the servers, features, and functionality you get, it's worth the money. Of course, we'd always prefer things to be cheaper, but we also understand that you have to pay for proper functionality. So overall, it's not badly priced at all."
"We looked at a few cloud options. When we did the comparison, we found it to be a cost-effective solution, and it included everything."
"I think it's a fair price. It's around $36 per user, so I think it's a fair price for our customers."
"The cost is a bit on the high side."
"For the number of users and amount of storage you receive, it is not expensive."
"We are talking about a third party solution, so there is a licensing fee."
"Its cost is pretty high. I would rate it a three out of five in terms of pricing."
"We have 2000 users and pay about $10,000. It may be a little bit more per year. We have an education institute and may have fewer expenses."
