Data governance has transformed business glossaries and now drives AI-ready insights
I think it's a great platform. Searching can be made a little better. The data marketplace which it provides is also great, but sometimes when we are searching an element and we know we are not sure if we can find it or if we have missed it. Listing data domains in one place for quick visibility will be an add-on. I am not a hardcore coder. For a coder to create workflows and automate the process, I needed to learn Groovy script and create some workflows. In the automation part, I think it can also introduce a low-code, no-code platform where we can connect different connectors and we can quickly create some automated workflows, if at basic level only, because the next big thing is automation and AI. Low-code, no-code platforms are being used by everyone. I think that will be useful. When I look for a data domain, I'm not able to find it very quickly. For a business owner to know data domains and search data domains, it could be made a little easier. Also, the automation part needs improvement. We are only able to enter the data manually or connect to a data source, but now we want to create some workflows as well. That's why I've chosen a rating of eight. Otherwise, it's really great.

Provides accurate data that is validated against a personalized reference tool
For most SAP customers, Information Steward is enough because it is able to build quality data rules to detect issues in the source systems like SAP HANA, Business Warehouse, or other systems. A business user can first organize their data into several data domains. For example, procurement, human resources, and logistics setup. The domains can build data quality dimensions where you can describe the kind of rule that you are going to use. The user then can immediately see if something is wrong with their data using traffic lights. Another great feature of SAP Information Steward is the accuracy that the content is followed by validating against the reference tool. With the solution, you are creating data quality dimensions. Within these dimensions, you are creating business data quality rules that are looking for specific fields. From these rules, you can create a scorecard. The scorecard will highlight the percentage of good data and ensure the user can feel confident that the data is accurate within predetermined limits. SAP tables have field names that are very cryptic, making them hard to understand the meaning of the fields. Metapedia helps describe these fields in business terms.

"This solution is user friendly and offers multiple functionalities."
"The solution's technical support is helpful and responsive."
"My experience with Collibra has been amazing."
"The most valuable feature is the discovery process for the data catalog because we get it in a visual format as a way to understand and classify it."
"The technical support from Collibra Governance is excellent, and I rate it as ten out of ten."
"Initial setup was straightforward."
"The data profiling was excellent, as was the ease of generating the dashboards."
"The solution is very fast, very stable, and very easy to use and straightforward."
"The most valuable features are data quality insight, metadata management, and metadata dictionary."
"The product has improved company efficiency because we're able to categorize the need for user access at the folder level across storage enterprise wide."
"The solution is user-friendly even for those who are dealing with it for the first time."
"Setup is straightforward."
"The ability to analyze the data even before we start the transformation of it, and generating the user-friendly interface, giving analytical reports, and helping create the transformation rules before we proceed with the data migration part was the most helpful part of the solution for our company."

Cons

"Where it isn't great is on older technologies that you'll typically find in finance or insurance industries, such as older types of data with VSAM or ISAM, or those types of older technologies. It just doesn't connect with them very easily."
"I would like to see a feature using the runtime dashboard."
"Connectivity with different applications could be improved."
"If the price is a bit reduced, that would be better."
"There's still room for improvement in Collibra Governance. Right now, the solution focuses more on publishing and subscription where metadata is being consumed from all systems and processes within Collibra Governance. I'd like to see more features around external systems that let those systems start consuming or start referring things from Collibra Governance automatically, in particular, more API-based integrations, so the solution can truly work as an enterprise governance tool at the heart of the organization. There have been many cases where business stakeholders feel, "Okay. I'll be doing a manual activity because every time I have to maintain and make sure that the solution is working, for example, ensuring the reporting works, I have to go to Collibra Governance." I want this step taken out of the equation, and it has to be an automatic conversion or automatic notification that something has changed. Scalability also needs improvement in the solution. If there could be some sort of self-service where people can customize the solution a bit more, that would make Collibra Governance better. What I'd like to see in the next release of the solution is an enhanced search feature because it's what users want to use. You want to search for a term and get all details in one go. Right now, if you type a term in the Collibra Governance global search function, it returns a lot of results that you need to know how to filter and what to filter, so there should be automatic filters that give accurate information to somebody who does a search on the solution. I want Collibra Governance to provide a capability where you can search and get relevant information."
"There should be more detailed documentation on the selectors and certain information, and a reduction in cost as compared to other tools."
"The issue may be the way it's been implemented in my company but, for Collibra to be really useful, what's missing is an easy way to connect to different data sources and different types of data sources and actually ingest and profile some of that data."
"I experience occasional downtime, bugs, and some glitches."
"A problem with the solution is that it does not allow us to review the results of Information Stewards for other analogies."
"From a performance perspective, sometimes it behaves weirdly. When we are connecting with the file-based system, it doesn't give us the correct results, or it somehow shows us there is this issue with the data or the file connectivity."
"SAP Information Steward is an expensive solution compared to others."
"In some cases they have given extraneous or erroneous information, which is completely useless."
"The support team is not very responsive."
"Needs to be more powerful on rules."
"We'd like to see some manipulation techniques included in SAP Information Steward."
"SAP Information Steward could be improved by offering a cloud version of the product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We purchase its annual license. There is an extra cost for additional users."
"I rate the pricing a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap."
"Collibra is a bit expensive."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"Collibra Governance is extremely expensive"
"Collibra provides you with a license based on the subscription model that you purchase."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"The solution's pricing is moderate and not very expensive."
"Smaller-sized organizations may not be able to invest in SAP Information Steward because of the cost."
"A bit pricey, and better tools are available for a lower price."
"SAP Information Steward is an expensive solution compared to others."
"I do not know if there were additional costs beyond the standard licensing fees."
