Feature-rich stable tool with multiple options to control output, good integration with other tools, and knowledgeable support team
The core functionality of the tool is automated test generation of optimized test suite; the tool has extensive list of options for the same. The product's integration with other tools sets it apart. It has integrations with many upstream (for requirements mapping) and downstream (export of test cases to various tools) products. It is like "plug-and-play". For any customized downstream tool, like our proprietary automation framework, support is provided for custom development. It is has features - Business AD - to use in Agile implementations. The latest version seems to have support for BDD/Gherkin as well, which we have not used much.

Used for integration automation, user-based automation, and web automation
The solution's most valuable features are the drag-and-drop feature, keyword-driven approach, and reusability of the scripts. The solution has introduced a new feature that helps us identify objects we cannot normally identify. It gives you a fair idea of objects, resolving the object recognition issue. The solution can be used to perform different tests on different machines.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Conformiq integrates well with various automation tools and auto-generates between 60% and 80% of the automation scripts."
"Conformiq generates a unique and optimized set of test cases, maintains them to the current application version by removing those for obsolete functionality, and, with proper integration to the automation framework, has enabled in-release and in-sprint automation for us."
"Though optimized and automated test generation is the core functionality, the product's integration with other tools sets it apart."
"The tool has the ability to integrate with various requirement management, test management, and version control tools."
"This product helps with understanding the design tool for the test case generation without manual writing of test cases in Excel."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is regression testing tools."
"Using TestComplete I was able to immediately (after installation) begin coding regression tests for available functionality."
"Mainly, when we did an evaluation and comparison, TestComplete had two big advantages - Good technology support Relatively low price in comparison to other vendor tools"
"After NPAPI was unsupported by Chrome, our test runs were halted on Chrome for a previous version of TestComplete, and they started running again with version 11.11."
"The solution's most valuable features are the drag-and-drop feature, keyword-driven approach, and reusability of the scripts."
"We use TestComplete to do the automation test on our product’s web UI; in total, over 500 test cases are written and the automation coverage is over 80%, which helps to reduce manual effort dramatically, and by using the same script, we can run the test on both IE and Google Chrome."
"If a company has an ecosystem and they need to automate the web, desktop, or mobile, then TestComplete is the right tool."
"My advice to others is: If you're looking for speed, configuration consistency, and accuracy of tests with fantastic results, go get TestComplete."

Cons

"It would be helpful to have a feature in the tool's UI to map object locators within the system."
"We have limited widgets available in the tool to design UI flow."
"Even though the 4.1 version is a far-improved version from its earlier avatars, the performance of test generation is still an issue on real-time models we have."
"I would like to see the output data optionally used as input for the model, as further action in the flow."
"Improvements on the List item widget and Table widget are needed."
"I have used it for Web Application automation and sometimes find difficulties while recognizing dynamically-generated runtime object."
"Error handling features in the tool are a little limited."
"Name Mapping feature should be clearer. Whenever I use it, I do not really know what will work and what will not work."
"This tool is also very expensive compared to the similar tools in the market. Price needs to be affordable."
"The learning curve of the solution's user interface is a little high for new users."
"Technical Support: Not so helpful most of the times. They always fail to produce a work around."
"Occasionally, image comparison results in failures, possibly due to issues with resolution or font size on the server side, which can be challenging to identify."
"One issue that I found was that there wasn't a quick way or a button to move Visual Basic scripts to TestComplete."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The solution is around $1500. Some are perpetual licenses, and some get a yearly report card."
"It costs a few hundred per year, but I am not sure. It is not at all expensive as compared to other tools."
"Overall, for us, the cost of the TestComplete platform and the three extra modules is around $8,000."
"This is a pay-per-use service that is not expensive, and cost-efficient if you have a small team."
"The price of SmartBear TestComplete could be less. The main challenge is when it comes to node-locked. They should use a subscription model, such as a monthly-based subscription or, a quarterly-based subscription. Their floating license is very expensive, and this high price should be reduced or provide, at a minimum, a subscription model."
"SmartBear TestComplete is an expensive tool."
"The pricing is a little above average — it could be lower."
"The licensing costs are in the range of $1,000 to $3,000."
