Wireless projects run smoothly with more access point support and competitive pricing
D-Link Wireless offers more supported APs to the WLC with the default license compared to other brands like Cisco. With Cisco, only four to five APs are connected with the default license, but D-Link Wireless provides more flexibility. Local support in Pakistan is necessary for those with limited budgets, creating a reach in the market.

Segmentation and remote management have optimized secure hybrid networks and support flexible customization
I find that the most valuable aspect of Ubiquiti WLAN is its ease of segmentation and management, allowing me to tag interfaces without needing to spin up an interface. My feedback on the Unifi management system is that it has made managing my devices and ecosystem easy, allowing me to manage remotely and physically while maintaining a new layer of security for device policies.I would say I am fine with the security features from Ubiquiti WLAN; I have not had any issues managing devices or applying different layers of security.Mesh networking is one of the best for me; especially with my isolated Wi-Fi network, it is managed easily using Ubiquiti.I mostly work with on-prem deployment, but I have a transparent outlay into my network on the cloud for remote insight without using cloud storage on my devices. My deployment for cloud is essentially a virtual private cloud for storage, and I am considering an integration to store videos on Ubiquiti devices, moving them from on-prem to the cloud.I am totally satisfied with the functionality of Ubiquiti WLAN for my clients; it does exactly what I need. For pricing, I rate Ubiquiti WLAN as cheap when compared to others.Ubiquiti WLAN is the only one that provides unlimited capabilities for customization, which I greatly appreciate compared to Cisco options.I have not requested technical support from Ubiquiti before because I usually solve issues on my own if they arise.I rate this product a nine out of ten overall.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The connectivity is good."
"Overall, I rate D-Link Wireless nine out of ten as a solution."
"The system simplifies network management."
"This is an affordable product that offers good performance, which is why it is popular with our customers, and it offers good speed and bandwidth."
"For small businesses, this is definitely a product that I recommend."
"The tool supports new technologies."
"The most valuable feature of D-Link Wireless is its durability."
"D-Link comes with a complete solution including wireless, switching, and static wiring."
"There was a time when we were using Cisco switches and attempting to integrate Ubiquiti UniFi switches into our network infrastructure. Eventually, after some effort, we managed to understand the process. Initially, it was challenging to configure the unified console to manage virtual networks alongside internal networks effectively. We had to comprehend how both systems would integrate carefully. It became apparent that maximizing the usage of Cisco switches required a thorough understanding of how UniFi operates at the backend."
"The product is simple to use in terms of GUI and dashboard."
"Ubiquiti WLAN is a reliable, stable, and robust solution."
"The main difference between Ubiquiti and other solutions is the wireless coverage and the equipment, and the device in itself is solid with all the functionality that I need."
"Ubiquiti is good even for large corporations."
"The main advantage of Ubiquiti WLAN is the network management. The whole concept has one complete range of products from end to end, with very basic and effective management systems. That's a key benefit in my mind. But the main thing is that it's so competitive—far more competitive than the other leading American brands."
"The relationship between the cost versus performance is probably the reason this is the best solution from a pricing perspective."
"The solution has a lot of great features."

Cons

"The solution's performance could be improved."
"In future, it would also be good to have a switch within D Link that works as well as the Cisco 9200 Switch."
"The solution has been mostly stable; it sometimes fluctuates, however, largely, it is good."
"Sometimes, the solution needs to be restarted."
"Sometimes we configure the SSID with a password but the same AP shows two WiFi connections with the same SSID name (one is protected by a password and another one give access without a password)."
"D-Link Wireless’s stability needs improvement."
"The solution doesn't have hotspots. Users can't set it up so that visitors can log in via Facebook or social media as they can at, for example, airports. D-Link should include hotspots that offer integration with social media. That way, visitors don't need to be asking people for passwords. They can just use Facebook."
"The only issue is with the controller visibility of the devices connecting to the network."
"Ubiquiti WLAN would be improved with the addition of individual AP configuration, which would allow for fine-tuning of individual access points and logins."
"The solution should include and expand on a central management system."
"Its scalability, UI, and security features could be better."
"Largely we're happy with the product, however, the firmware deployments could maybe be managed a little bit differently."
"Big networks with more than 80 access points are a problem. The network controller stops sometimes, and I think it's because of the high number of access points."
"If they can integrate or release a single platform because, currently, there are two different platforms for switches and routers. So, maintaining just one unified platform, like, for example, unifying the models or brands, and avoiding separate platforms for edge switches, edge routers, and other Ubiquiti products, would simplify the integration and implementation process."
"I think the main area for improvement with Ubiquiti WLAN is that they need to be far more specific in explaining the advantages of one product versus another. They have many access points - over 30. We often get questions about the right product for specific circumstances, and it's difficult to answer them clearly."
"When I started to upgrade, the controller for Unbuntu was really struggling to start up, however, that has since been solved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is affordable."
"There is no licensing fee for the solution."
"The cost can range from $100 to $400."
"D-Link pricing is very competitive when you consider other OEMs."
"D-Link Wireless' price is the same as Aruba's. You need to pay one-time costs for the product."
"D-Link Wireless is cheaper than Ruckus or Cisco."
"This solution is more affordable than others on the market."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is very cheap and ten is very expensive, I rate the pricing an eight out of ten."
"The tool's price is very friendly."
"Ubiquiti WLAN is a low-priced product."
"Ubiquiti has a good price compared to the other ones."
"The tool's price is good and falls somewhere in the middle."

"The pricing is very reasonable."
"When comparing the price of Ubiquiti WLAN to Aruba the price is reasonable."
