Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks has accelerated the response time for my security team, so we have been able to resolve issues faster than usual."
"Based on my experience with Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks, I highly recommend it due to its quick response to zero-day attacks and low utilization from end-user devices."
"Its ability to react to cyber data attacks is awesome."
"The solution's most valuable feature is the user interface."
"I don't have to do much monitoring with it; I don't have to have anybody manually looking at this, it gives us reports, and it lets us know if something needs to be addressed, and we can easily address it."
"Based on my experience, I would recommend Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks to other people."
"They have a new GUI which is just fantastic."
"The stability of this product is very good."
"The most valuable feature of Datto EDR is the visibility of the endpoints."
"Datto Endpoint Detection and Response is a perfect product for endpoint security."
"The insight that the solution provides is the most valuable aspect. The security scanning they do is excellent."
"The ease of deployment has been good."
"The alerts provided by Trellix Active Response are its most valuable feature."
"It's a little lighter compared to the older version, which was mostly signature-based."
"With the ADR parts of it or the Active Response parts of it, we're able to get a little more information compared to the older version, such as analytics, user behavior analytics, triaging, and meaningful reporting."
"The solution is scalable."
"The continuous monitoring component of this solution allows Trellix to launch the MDR solution, which correlates all incidents and provides investigation reports within a short period of time, hence offering an advantage to the customers using Trellix Active Response and its integrated products."
"We are hoping to automate detection and response and take advantage of user behavior analytics, given that we are working from home. About half of our workers are still remote, so Active Response gives us that visibility and lets us automate a number of those events."

Cons

"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks can improve mobile integration to allow access to the console."
"Limited remote connection."
"It automatically detects security issues. It should be able to protect our network devices while operating autonomously."
"It'll help if customization was easier."
"Although I would say this product is highly-rated, it could probably do more because nothing does everything that you want."
"Technology evolves every day, so it would be nice if it gets more secure. It can also have more integration with other platforms."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is a very good product, but financially, it is very expensive, so the company should look into that area."
"The solution should enhance the ADR and reporting."
"The solution could improve by having more deployment methods."
"The solution should allow the automation of playbooks."
"The inclusion of web filtering would be good."
"The deployment of the solution right now is terrible. We find it to be very bad. It could be improved enormously."
"I would rate technical support from Trellix Active Response as a seven because sometimes we face difficulties finding engineers quickly, leading to customer frustration."
"There are some components on the cloud that should also reside in the on-prem deployment models but don't."
"The only area for improvement is regarding operational technology devices, specifically the engineering automation systems."
"The truth, however, is that I was really looking for something much more advanced with user behavior analytics and some AI features that the other competitor's next-gen AV does offer."
"I also expected Active Response 's user interface to be much more analytical."
"While the product is good, we are currently facing support issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool's price is moderate."
"Every customer has to pay for a license because it doesn't work with what you get from a managed services provider."
"Its pricing is kind of in line with its competitors and everybody else out there."
"Traps pays for itself within the first 16 months of a three-year subscription. This is attributed to OPEX savings, as security teams spent less time trying to identify and isolate malware for analysis as a result of a reduction in malware incidents, false positives, and breach avoidance."
"This is an expensive solution."
"It's way too expensive, but security is expensive. You pay for your licensing, and then you pay for someone to monitor the stuff."
"Cortex XDR's pricing is ok."
"We pay about $50,000 USD per year for a bundle that includes Cortex XDR."
"Datto Endpoint Detection and Response is not an expensive solution."
"There is an annual license to use this solution. The price of the solution can be expensive depending on the company."
"Our costs were somewhere around $600K in Trinidad dollars, which might be about $100K US. We have the ETP plus the EDR. Our recent renewal was 1800 licenses as opposed to the full amount. Our transaction cost was about $600K Trinidad dollars, which is somewhere around $90-100K US."
