Has improved credential security with remote password change and role-based access
I have not faced any significant issues with Delinea Secret Server during this period of time, but we had a problem with a web password filler, which is a template used for accessing a web URL using Secret Server, where we faced some session management issues since session management is not applicable for the web password filler. This should be the improvement that we require from Delinea Secret Server. The session management is not applicable in this case; we can manage the session and have session management inside the remote systems within the organization. However, when it comes to web-related access, we can access directly through Delinea Secret Server. We can access any URL through Secret Server, but the problem is that the session cannot be managed on the web URL due to it having multiple systems. I do not have any other recommendations regarding the improvement of Delinea Secret Server at this time.

Secure management of sensitive servers and seamless applications with direct linking
The credential injection feature is highly valued, particularly for RDP sessions. A majority of customers use it for RDP, and a couple for Linux servers. The broader capabilities, including access to multiple systems, web-based applications, and clustering, have never posed an issue. The threat analytics aspect is also a robust feature that analyzes all pertinent information.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like the one-way hash, as well as the ability to store it in the cloud and access it from anywhere."
"Delinea Secret Server offers features similar to CyberArk and BeyondTrust, such as maintaining and securing privileged passwords and session monitoring."
"Secret Server has improved security, productivity and helped achieve a much higher state of compliance."
"The benefits and positive impacts I have seen from Delinea Secret Server on my company include having centralized secret management, log monitoring, an audit log on the command execution on the system, and it has programmable API customization."
"One valuable feature is that it will support a dedicated database. Delinea provides multiple features, like reporting and remote password changes."
"Number one is the password vault; it's very good. Number two, they have a feature for remote desktops that are created on a per session basis, which is very good for security."
"I like that it's user-friendly."
"The user interface is quite good. It's very straightforward."
"It will provide us with more security."
"Transparent login for users of privileged IDs (Linux, Windows). This prevents sharing of the password because it is never seen."
"The access control component is solid, adding another layer of security beyond the basic OS security of Linux and Windows while keeping administration costs the same across different operating systems."
"The solution has the capability to address hybrid eco-systems, both on-premises and cloud services, and integration with the AD RBAC model is also a great feature, as we can tie it to the central repository."
"The most valuable feature is the general concept of securing privileged passwords."
"If looking for a solution with privileged session management, great recording features with an integrated password vault and Single Sign-On that is pretty straightforward to implement out-of-the-box and does not overwhelm you with unnecessary features, it the best way to go."
"We know we can scale up with what we have, and we probably will not need to buy any further appliances down the road."
"The RDP-gateway: For limiting which server an operator can access."

Cons

"Installation can sometimes be difficult, depending on the environment."
"Support could be better. I have heard about a lot of problems in the Bangladesh market. People are saying that there are support issues. So, Delinea should focus on support and services."
"I formerly used only one service: the remote server. For example, I connected to the Active Directory user and the computer's console. But now, I need to do a remote connection to the domain controller. Maybe it only connects to that tool, the Active Directory users, and the computer management console, but not to the domain controller. Another thing Delinea could add is multi-factor authentication."
"I'd prefer a better commercial model that includes partners and options for consulting around it. Where I've worked with my customers, we've only been able to use their professional services, and that has been a risk and constraint."
"Although the password policy was interesting, the default setting was inadequate."
"Delinea Secret Server can improve in areas like statistics and notifications, and risk scoring, especially for highly privileged accounts where financial transactions occur."
"Delinea Secret Server needs to improve its reporting."
"The integration with the ticketing system ServiceNow is complex."
"Bring more technology into the portfolio and being able to collapse those products into a much more integrated way."
"The integration with AS/400 Endpoint via Transparent Login could be better and useful for some users."
"I would like to see improvements in branding customization and multi-tenancy."
"There were some issues with stability. From what I remember, people would complain that every 30 minutes to an hour or so, their connection would drop and they'd have to reconnect, but it wasn't clear whether that was a problem with the network we were working on or whether that was a problem with Privileged Access Manager."
"I wish it could create local accounts on desktops."
"The management console could be improved."
"We experience stability issues after every patch upgrade. This is a place where CA needs to improve drastically."
"What I hope happens with the new product CA PAM is to keep all the useful features that exist in PA, but what I’ve noticed with many new products is the UI gets polished but systems lags stability and performance or it adds additional complexity instead of simplifying the user experience."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to other solutions, Delinea Secret Server is competitively priced but on the higher side."
"Its price is okay. We don't compete on pricing. We seldom use price to win over our competitors. We prefer it this way because if we can sustain the price, we make more margin as well. We don't want the price to go down to the bottom where despite the win, there's no margin at all."
"I would give the price a four on a scale from one to ten, with one being the cheapest and ten being the most expensive. We pay for the license on a yearly basis, and we paid for three years. It costs around 5000 a year."
"It is very expensive, and its price should be lower."
"The solution is low-cost than other vendors."
"The tool's pricing is expensive."
"I would rate the pricing a six out of ten, with ten being a high price."
"Pricing is comparable to competing products."
"Cost-wise, CA was better compared to others in the market. "
"It is reasonably priced."
"It is more expensive than other solutions on the market."
"Don’t go with an agent model. Don’t go with a model that has you buying a thousand different parts. Go with PAM that gives you everything, or you’ll just be paying costs of implementing another tool that PAM would have just given you up front."
"They offer per-device, per-user, or monthly and yearly licensing models."
"I would prefer better licensing options for the 20-100 users we have at a given time."
"The licensing is simple and scalable."
"The prices are not low, but one can ask for a discount. It’s not the cheapest PAM solution."
