Dell EqualLogic PS series is easily scalable, and we can add extra boxes and storage. It was easy to deploy during COVID. Deploying Dell EqualLogic PS series is straightforward, with no complexity involved. Dell EqualLogic PS series is a good product. We did not experience any failures in the last six to seven years, and it is still running as our storage for offline data. There are snapshot capabilities in data protection available, but we did not use that feature because it consumes much space. We have only 150 terabytes of space and simply use it to create volumes without utilizing it for snapshots. We use thin provisioning in Dell EqualLogic PS series, but I did not explore that feature further.

Ensures quick data handling but needs advanced security features
The speed and performance of HPE MSA are admirable. I found that its scalability benefited my organization, especially in larger settings. While the price is not reasonable, its performance makes up for it. Additionally, the licensing costs are consistent with most brands. Compared to Huawei, however, I found that Huawei's processing power, performance, and cost were more advantageous.

"The solution offers very good read capacities, the size of the box we have is pretty decent, the speed on offer is very good, we have found the initial setup to be fairly straightforward, and Dell's technical support is very good."
"Enterprise features for snapshot management and replication benefited us greatly."
"If you have one datacenter fail, the VMs will start to run inside the other data center."
"For those who want to use HPE MSA, the biggest benefits are data deduplication and snapshot replication."
"HPE StorageWorks MSA is an entry-level, cost-effective solution for SMB customers."
"I like StorageWorks' snapshots for our backup system. We had a pool of SSD and traditional drives. StorageWorks has a feature that transfers the hot data to high-performing drives."
"The benefits are definitely reliability and ease of use, because, since we are using the same products, we also know that we can contact HP for assistance if we need it."
"The most valuable features are data deduplication and snapshot replication."
"The solution's most valuable aspect, for our organization, is its stability."
"This is a good product and everything I needed it to do, it did and still does."
"HPE MSA is a very flexible array because we can add more enclosures and extend the capacity dynamically."

Cons

"6510 and 6610 have two iSCSI connections in each controller. Why do 6110xxx members have only one, and why do the same members have the possibility of having an active iSCSI interface in the passive controller? It could make a lot of noise with a failover."
"The searchable online documentation is missing."
"EqualLogic is really not going to be relevant in the marketplace too much longer."
"Do not go for EQL. It will be out of production in a few years."
"Synchronous replication uses space inefficiently."
"An improvement that could be made is to have a storage solution with all SSD hard disks, as we currently have a Dell EqualLogic PS series with traditional hard disks."
"The replication efficiency needs to be improved."
"The product is reaching the end-of-lifecycle."
"We had a few issues with some of the firmware codes, probably about five years ago."
"The platform’s monitoring capabilities could be enhanced."
"HPE should reintroduce customizable ports as they were in Gen 5, allowing customers to use both iSCSI or SC on a single controller."
"Some clients have suggested room for improvement in expanding storage capacity beyond the base traces."
"We faced a lot of challenges with our custom configuration during installation."
"Synchronized replication is very important for MSA; however, HPE StorageWorks MSA doesn't provide synchronized replication."
"The support contract is expensive, although they are very responsive."
"It would be beneficial to have an add-on feature to improve analytics or insight capabilities inside the app."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Initial packages include all upgrades and services."
"I don't think I would say that the product is less expensive...The product's price is not an issue for our company, considering the relationship we have with Dell and the customer support we receive."
"It is a fair price."
"Licensing is pretty straightforward."
"I didn't buy it. It was another person seven years ago. So, I don't really know, but all storage platforms cost a lot of money. It is probably in the mid-range, but you get what you pay for."
"All features are out of the box. The license will be in the virtual, OS, or application layer."
"Price-wise, the solution is cheap. I rate it a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is very cheap, and ten is very expensive."
"There are annual maintenance costs beyond the original licensing period."
"HPE StorageWorks MSA's licensing is perpetual and not integrated."
"This solution is quite expensive; they should lower the cost."

"The solution can be a bit expensive."
"The solution’s pricing is reasonable."
"This solution involves a one-time CapEx payment, followed by warranty extensions."
