Has enabled uninterrupted access to educational platforms and simplified storage management
Dell EqualLogic PS series is easily scalable, and we can add extra boxes and storage. It was easy to deploy during COVID. Deploying Dell EqualLogic PS series is straightforward, with no complexity involved. Dell EqualLogic PS series is a good product. We did not experience any failures in the last six to seven years, and it is still running as our storage for offline data. There are snapshot capabilities in data protection available, but we did not use that feature because it consumes much space. We have only 150 terabytes of space and simply use it to create volumes without utilizing it for snapshots. We use thin provisioning in Dell EqualLogic PS series, but I did not explore that feature further.

Offers high performance and dependable support for fast storage needs
The most valuable feature of IBM FlashSystem is its robust back code. When integrated properly into the environment and configured according to the guidelines, it provides a very solid infrastructure that does the job on demand. Additionally, IBM FlashSystem offers competitive pricing and reliable performance. The hardware is dependable, ensuring that it functions effectively when the setup is done correctly.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We've dealt with technical support and have found them to be helpful and responsive."
"The solution has been working well overall."
"You can always trust it. It is stable."
"Technical support, when we had access to it, was very good."
"Dell EqualLogic PS series is a highly stable solution."
"The technical support for EqualLogic has been universally outstanding."
"I am satisfied with it; it works very fine for our purpose, and its performance is enough for our needs."
"The product is very stable."
"The most valuable feature in demand is virtualization and its support storage of virtualization features."
"They have a virtualization feature and, even if you do not want to buy that feature, you can have it as a trial for two to three months. If you have another brand of storage from another company, you can use this tool to transfer all your data from the old system to the new Storwize system, which really shortens the migration time."
"The ease-of-use and scalability are the most valuable features."
"I like most of the features; its speed, performance, and availability are valuable, and we are implementing the data reduction technology the most."
"FlashSystem offers proven technology in a compact package."
"As a result of the accelerated read and write operations from disks, productivity across the enterprise has increased in daily work."
"The speed, performance, and stability are the best features of IBM FlashSystem."
"IBM FlashSystem provides a very good value."

Cons

"Dell EqualLogic PS series could improve the performance because in our hybrid configuration the read speed is faster than the write speed."
"Do not go for EQL. It will be out of production in a few years."
"The only challenging part in the tool was related to some site recovery area. In order to exploit the site recovery area, my company had to purchase additional VMware products."
"When they deployed our cluster, they did not provide any documentation or low-level or high-level diagrams. They simply came, mounted the servers, and started installation without documentation, which is a negative point on the vendor side."
"The performance isn't as good as, for example, Nimble."
"Dell EqualLogic PS series could improve by providing fiber channel connectivity. Fiber channel connectivity is not supported, which is a requirement of advanced applications, such as SAP HANA. SAP HANA recommends fiber channel connectivity, but the Dell EqualLogic PS series is only an ISCSI data storage."
"6510 and 6610 have two iSCSI connections in each controller. Why do 6110xxx members have only one, and why do the same members have the possibility of having an active iSCSI interface in the passive controller? It could make a lot of noise with a failover."
"The product is reaching the end-of-lifecycle."
"It doesn't scale out that well."
"There are some issues on a firmware level."
"Technical support is complicated. The technical support can be improved, it should be more automated."
"The generic functionality of IBM FlashSystem, IBM always dismisses using file share or sharing protocols inside their storage hardware, and they only focus on the block-level storage."
"Technical support is horrible. IBM doesn't have much expertise with the product."
"Include an option to upload the support package to the IBM ECuRep when opening an IBM PMR."
"The pricing needs to be more competitive."
"When you provision a datastore auto-format takes a long time .. to disable is you have to redo the whole process. this is a bit difficult if you want to make adjustments on the datastore"

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing is pretty straightforward."
"I don't think I would say that the product is less expensive...The product's price is not an issue for our company, considering the relationship we have with Dell and the customer support we receive."
"Dell EqualLogic PS series can improve its scale-out feature. Sometimes the customer has a limited budget for storage expansion. When they want to expand their capacity, they need to buy a complete controller plus storage capacity, which sometimes is out of their budget. If Dell EqualLogic PS series support could scale up the environment in which only hard drive extension controllers should be supported, then customers can expand within a lower budget."
"Price-wise, the solution is cheap. I rate it a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is very cheap, and ten is very expensive."
"Initial packages include all upgrades and services."
"I didn't buy it. It was another person seven years ago. So, I don't really know, but all storage platforms cost a lot of money. It is probably in the mid-range, but you get what you pay for."
"All features are out of the box. The license will be in the virtual, OS, or application layer."
"It seemed expensive at first, but the durability lowered the cost of ownership dramatically over time."
"I price of IBM FlashSystem is reasonable and competitive."
"There are no licensing fees, it is a one-time purchase of the IBM FlashSystem."
"I'd rate the basic licensing and the Virtualize software a ten out of ten, and the extra Spectrum and other an eight out of ten."
"They've been much more aggressive in the last five, six years than they were before that."
"The solution requires a license and could be less expensive."
"The cost of the IBM FlashSystem is lower than the HPE solution."
"I would rate the pricing of this solution a four out of five."
"The pricing is reasonable."
