Offers a user-friendly interface and saves costs in data centers
Dell PowerEdge FX is very good and user-friendly, with a console that is easy to manage, and it is budget-friendly compared to other products. Dell PowerEdge FX has made management very good and easy for us, and we have created virtual machines on these PowerEdge servers as well. The modular design of Dell PowerEdge FX is very beneficial for our IT operations because it is small and compact, fitting easily into our data center rack while saving physical space and power. They have a capable technical support team that helps to resolve issues, and their regular updates to hardware components and communication keep us up to date with challenges. Dell PowerEdge FX has some features that we noticed for supporting AI initiatives or data-intensive applications, but we are planning to explore all the features in depth.

Supports flexible hosting needs through seamless upgradability and strong monitoring capabilities
The most valuable features of Dell PowerEdge R-Series for me are the feature richness and the upgradability. I really love the way that it is so dynamically applicable for every situation, and they manage to have an all-in-one solution for every single situation. Dell PowerEdge has supported the growth and operational success of my company through its great compute power and price-to-performance ratio. Every time Dell is at the top of its game for us, and there is just no other brand for us that is able to reach that kind of price-to-performance ratio. Dell PowerEdge R-Series has features that specifically cater to the needs of my small company, such as iDRAC. The iDRAC system is a complete feature set for managing servers and hardware technically and monitoring-wise. It really fits in our system and our ecosystem, and monitoring-wise, it is excellent. They have all these sensors available via different protocols and end points, which I love, and the ability to manage and control everything via the iDRAC interface is just a welcome bonus. In our use case, Dell PowerEdge R-Series is very flexible. It is another computer which helps a lot because of the durability over time. They keep running, making scalability for getting more of those resources in our environment so easy.

Pros

"What differentiates PowerEdge from competing racks I've used is its compactness."
"The remote management is great."

"It has extremely high performance, and it is easy to manage."
"The product's initial setup phase was simple and easy."
"The product seamlessly integrates with the storage portfolio."
"The services of Dell are good, and the performance of Dell PowerEdge R-Series is also good; I didn't face any problems, and the issues I did encounter were resolved by their excellent support services, even though they're based overseas."
"I find the flexibility of the build-out in Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers very valuable because we can do different things based on the use case. This flexibility is highlighted by being able to reduce CPU count, RAM count, and the number of drives depending on the site's importance."
"They are good, the visibility of Dell is very strong in Egypt, especially in the north where most of the engineers are, and we also have a distributor who is very supportive and helps us in training and sizing."
"Using PowerEdge helped to reduce unplanned production downtime by 20% to 25%."
"Dell PowerEdge R-Series is a scalable solution that is always up to date with the latest processor, memories, and all that, especially when a customer requires the latest technology for maximum performance."
"Every time we get a new PowerEdge server, we definitely notice an impact on the SQL databases that are part of our ERP, and I do have users come and tell me that they've noticed that things have sped up and that even simple file searches are faster."
"The maintenance and remote monitoring are valuable."
"We are satisfied with what we got from Dell PowerEdge R-Series; there was no need to add it for more functions."

Cons

"The positioning of the power supply is not ideal. Both of them are on the same side, so you need to untie the cabling when you're installing the server."
"I think that Dell has full documentation on their products, but it needs to be improved for this one."
"I rate Dell support six out of 10. It varies. Sometimes it's good. Sometimes it's bad. The response time could be better."
"Before the cloud solution and virtualization, we relied on Dell hardware from specific vendors. The lifecycle for cloud infrastructure is shorter than it used to be. We need a longer lifecycle from the IT supplier providing the computing solution."
"I think that Dell has full documentation on their products, but it needs to be improved for this one."
"The positioning of the power supply is not ideal. Both of them are on the same side, so you need to untie the cabling when you're installing the server. Another thing is storage separation. The storage can only be used by a particular server blade. I want the ability to use a storage unit for more than one server."
"I would prefer the next releases of Dell PowerEdge FX to be easier to use and flexible to upgrade. Sometimes, we have to do the tasks manually, but automation would be very helpful."
"They could improve from a manufacturing perspective and not the product itself."
"Dell PowerEdge R-Series is already a very good product, but the cost is a bit on the higher side."
"Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers have higher hardware costs compared to HPE ProLiant servers, which are cheaper."
"It is not good in terms of its energy consumption for a large-scale deployment."
"Dell needs to focus more on SMBs, helping us get the most out of our products."
"There needs to be more flexibility for business options."
"Dell can improve or speed up the deployment process with more intuitive dashboards, a more intuitive installing process, and maybe more detailed guides that can help the end user to install and implement their servers and racks."
"The aftermarket price for RAM modules and CPU cores is expensive. If I want to switch out a CPU or processor inside of my Dell PowerEdge to gain more cores, which increases my performance for VMware, the aftermarket price is so expensive that we typically take that box, retire an older Dell PowerEdge, and then buy a brand new one."
"The price distance increases with the higher-end, more complex servers, and there is room for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to other brands, this solution is the cheapest. I would rate the pricing as a five out of five."
"I rate the product price a four on a scale of one to ten, where one is a high price, and ten is a low price."
"The price of Dell PowerEdge FX is affordable, and when compared to other solutions, such as Lenovo and HPE it is less expensive. There are any extra costs other than the standard solution."
"The price of the license is expensive."
"Payments are generally made towards the perpetual-based licensing costs attached to the solution, but people can also opt for subscription-based licenses."
"The cost of Dell PowerEdge FX depends on the configuration we are using. We usually pay $5,000 to $10,000 based on the configuration, including RAM and storage."
"PowerEdge is not a cheap product. It's a quality product, but there is always competition. If you want to buy a server, you need an operating system, and most of it is Microsoft. A bundled solution costs less than a separate operating system and hardware."
"The high cost of Dell PowerEdge Rack Server licenses is attributed to the pre-installed Windows Server operating system from Microsoft."
"The pricing is very competitive."
"We would prefer it if the pricing were for half the cost. We have been expanding our company, and my boss stated that we must save money."
"It's pretty much on par."
"The pricing could always be better."
"It's abundantly clear that the specific licensing requirements will be dictated by the intricacies of the machinery we deploy."
"If price isn't a concern, I would recommend it."
