Speedy and easy setup but it needs to mature
One way this solution could be improved is if they could come up with better options to migrate. As for what could be included in the next release, we have shared a couple of points with them. First, the account should be more in balance and coordinated with us. They already communicated to our project management team that they are going to implement some of these features. I would definitely recommend this solution. But as time goes on and new features are getting added the product will be more comprehensive.

Near-zero downtime has protected critical workloads and now simplifies hybrid cloud recovery
The best features of HPE Zerto Software are mainly very sophisticated and relevant to the current market. The data protection CDP part has real-time replication, unlike other solutions that have snapshot backups. We can set it up hourly, making it ideal for use with workloads. Another attraction is the near-zero RTO, with automated failover within minutes and one-click failover and failback. Currently, we are using a hybrid cloud solution, and HPE Zerto Software supports multi-cloud environments, making it easy to migrate between on-premises and cloud. Regarding the impact of HPE Zerto Software on our RTOs, we have near-zero RTO, meaning the system must be back online within thirty minutes if we measure the time. It is very quick to recover services. With HPE Zerto Software's near-synchronous replication, we have some CDP protection, so we typically write interceptions along with some asynchronous replication. There is almost real-time replication available.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"One of the features I find most valuable, is the good technical support."
"The speed and the ease of the initial setup are both good. It is not complex."
"Since I started working with Dell a few months ago, I have found that the solution is very strong."
"I would definitely recommend this solution."
"The long-term journal is one feature that is useful in that it allows us to use the product as both CDP and backup."
"HPE Zerto Software is very simple to use and to implement, and you can implement and have a full disaster recovery solution in just a few days usually."
"With the deployment of Zerto, this has significantly improved."
"Zerto's single-click recovery solution offers exceptional recovery speed."
"The total time for replication has been reduced drastically for us and that really adds value in the long run because time equals money and resources."
"The one-to-many replication functionality is helpful. While we were protecting our VMs in Azure, we were able to use the one-to-many feature to also replicate the same VMs to our new data center, in preparation for data center migration."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to recover critical systems, such as public safety, within a few minutes. In addition, the RPO is six seconds of data loss, tops."
"It helps with business continuity."

Cons

"Sometimes I find that the interface is not as good as it should be."
"The product has to be more mature, like to be another six to eight months on the market; a lot of maturity needs to be incorporated."
"The interface and documentation need to improve."
"The product has to be more mature, like to be another six to eight months on the market. A lot of maturity needs to be incorporated."
"Customer service and technical support need improvement."
"We have had issues with licensing, where the license we've been given by Zerto support doesn't include VSS replication, which was a pain at the time."
"Sometimes the virtual private group that is created in HPE Zerto Software is sluggish."
"I don't think Zerto does that well to where it keeps a memory of the files that are there."
"There are certain things about the user interface that could be a little bit more user-friendly."
"The replication layer can probably be improved."
"Sometimes we require extra storage for Zerto."
"With the current updates primarily on the Azure side of it, documentation could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I wouldn't say I like the licensing pricing structure. Every year, it increases exponentially, which bothers me a little. It's worth it in terms of the value, but I worry the price will increase even more often after the Zerto merger. I still think it's worth it and that the solution is cheaper than the others."
"I'd like to see better tiering for Zerto's pricing. We do multi-tier VMs. I don't think I should be paying a penalty and price for a tier-three VM where I don't need a really tight SLA like I do for a tier-one."
"Staffing may be a little thin at times, but as far as budgeting what we buy, the price for this solution has not been so outrageous that we don't buy it."
"You need to figure out how many critical servers and applications you have in your environment so you will know how many Zerto licenses to buy."
"Zerto's pricing model is cost-prohibitive for small—to medium-sized businesses."
"It is cost-efficient because we have perpetual licenses. We are a small to medium-sized business, so cost is a pretty big important factor."
"Pricing is kind of expensive, but for what we get, it is probably worth it. I know they just had a huge price increase due to the VMware stuff getting expensive, which added about a thousand dollars a month to our bill."
"Zerto is fairly expensive, but worth it."
