Offers replication flexibility across multiple environments, including local centers and secondary sites
It offers key features like any point-in-time recovery without needing scheduled snapshots. It allows for automated VM protection during processes like failover and testing, and it offers replication flexibility across multiple environments, including local centers and secondary sites. It also provides IP address management when network configurations differ across sites.

The solution can be used for DR testing and allows running an infinite number of full backups
When we consider the backup model of other products like Veeam, their incremental backup just adds to their first full backup. With Veritas System Recovery, we have the option to run an infinite number of full backups according to our requirements. With my cloud version of Veritas System Recovery, I can have a full backup every month, which is not possible with any other vendors. Other vendors will claim that the original copy is strong enough, but the customers have to ensure that bugs won't cause any problems in the future. However, with Veritas System Recovery, you can run a full backup this month and again run a full backup on the first or thirtieth day of the next month.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The product's initial setup phase was quite easy to install."

"The installation is straightforward if the version you have is compatible with your infrastructure."
"The speed and the footprint the solution uses regarding storage are great."
"One of the standout features of Dell RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines is its real-time data protection capability."
"The generalization of the journals allows us to go back in time and choose the snapshot suitable for us. We can grab it as needed."
"It is a very simple tool to use and offers flexibility in using the tool for recovery and transitioning from one state to another."
"Continuous replication with lower RTO and RPO is the most innovative feature. Its tight integration with VMware for VMware VMs is also valuable."
"The solution captures the system state, so when we restore the system, it will be restored to the state it was in at the time of the backup."
"The installation was straightforward."
"You can back up the whole image."
"The tool helps automate system recovery. The solution is most useful in scenarios involving restoration to a different environment. For instance, when migrating from a physical server to a virtual one, the tool facilitates conversion."
"With Veritas System Recovery, we have the option to run an infinite number of full backups according to our requirements."
"The solution has helped reduce my company's cost by around 50 to 60 percent."
"Offers good recovery quickly."
"It has a user-friendly interface."

Cons

"Although we can change the IP address, it would be good to have some other sort of orchestration to make life easier to manage when we failover."
"It should have features for recovering a group of virtual machines and full-scale security. For recovering all the VMs at once, they don't have a GUI option, and we have to use the command line."
"The solution is not easy to use. It's actually quite hard. If it could be simplified it might be better for the end user."
"The biggest challenge we faced was attempting replication between two different kinds of storage systems, like IBM on one side and Dell EMC storage systems on the other, before opting for VPLEX."
"In some cases, the response times could improve, but we haven't had issues with their support."
"The biggest challenge we faced was attempting replication between two different kinds of storage systems, like IBM on one side and Dell EMC storage systems on the other, before opting for VPLEX."
"The solution currently supports only VMware. There is increasing demand for compatibility with other hypervisors, such as Hyper V and KVM Proxmox. Additionally, licensing has become less flexible and more expensive."
"Maybe integration with Kubernetes for OpenShift would be helpful."
"Veritas System Recovery Manager offers some manager solutions, but there is room for improvement."
"Lacks the ability to protect the database snapshot."
"The pricing could be cheaper."
"It needs an easier interface."
"The tool's deployment could be easier. The deployment itself isn't the issue; rather, the problem lies in configuring policies and testing everything before it's ready. We invest a significant amount of time in preparing for various scenarios. However, we often encounter situations where changes have occurred since our initial preparations. This can render the automation less valuable."
"Veritas System Recovery’s pricing and local support need some improvement."
"The product's integration capabilities are an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required."
"We faced issues with recovery and restoration."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a license required for this solution and the pricing depends on how many virtual machines you have."
"This is not a very cheap solution and compared to others, it is expensive."
"The tool is expensive. If one means cheaply priced and ten means expensive, I rate the tool's price as a seven."
"It was a part of a backup solution. So, it was free for us."
"Pricing-wise, it is pretty much fair for any customer who only has a VMware environment. Licensing is based on the number of VMs that you want to protect at any given point in time. Licensing is not based on size."
"This is an expensive product."
"My company has to make yearly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the solution. There is no need to pay any additional fees apart from the licensing costs attached to the solution."
