Presents all information in one place and automates some of our manual processes
This product is used by more than 50 colleges in our state and it is purchased by the government. The system office does the testing and pushes out the patches to us, so everything has been testing. Even if there is any customization that needs to be done, it happens before it comes to us. As such, I haven't had to contact technical support myself.

Has connected financial data across departments and improved future cash flow planning
I would like to improve the integration with other solutions, as I need everything integrated, like the HR module, purchase module, SCM, production, and engineering. Each and every module should be connected to the finance module, and I think Oracle provides the right solution. Also, SAP, IFS, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 offer some solutions, but I am not as happy with them as I am with Oracle. I believe that Oracle E-Business Suite could improve by transitioning from Java-based scripts in our system to a web-based environment. While Oracle already has JD Edwards available in web-based format, I think it needs to be smoother for optimization and presentation in the future. In comparison, IFS is fully web-based, and all applications are sufficiently good and user-friendly. We are developing and trying to improve to a web-based setup, but it is currently too costly.

"EBS has lots of application families and lots of features. It is modular in deployment and flexible enough to let the customer increase the built-in capabilities and enable new applications when needed. These are very important things at hand in case there will be a need to expand the product capabilities and/or implement new projects."
"The automation of retail and dealer order management has helped us a lot."
"The most valuable feature from our experience with E-Business Suite is definitely its ease of use."

Cons

"The functionality for monitoring satisfactory academic progress has room for improvement."
"It is expensive and uses an antiquated database (Unidata) that requires a specialized set of technical skills in staff."
"Movement of CIP Inventory cannot be monitored in Inventory module when we are using the CIP Account or movement of CIP Inventory in Asset module, which is not flexible like Inventory module."
"Areas for improvement would be that sometimes it's a bit rigid with customization and doesn't always facilitate region-specific requirements."
"Reporting is a big area for improvement. It needs to provide the ability to extract data from the suite. Oracle has also been making a great effort to make E-Business Suite more user-friendly but there are still areas where a focus on User Experience would help."
"I would like to see improvement in the overall UI."
"Oracle licensing is very complex, and the pricing is too expensive."
"They need to improve on their turnaround time on the Sev 2 and Sev 3 service requests."
"Organizational restructuring is a horrible process and very difficult in EBS."
"The initial setup is not simple, it's quite complex, very difficult."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"There is an annual licensing fee and you are able to add features depending on the scope of the environment."

"In order to minimize the implementation and consultancy costs, business lines should have proper definitions. They need to have a proper way of retrieving their data, which should be structured well."
"The pricing of Oracle E-Business Suite is too high."
