Offers inventory management, basic ERP functions but outdated interface
The interface looks a bit outdated. Epicor acquired iScala, which was originally developed in Sweden. I'm unsure if their intention is to eventually replace iScala with their primary Epicor ERP or continue developing iScala. Initially, it seemed they might replace it, but it appears iScala will remain a separate product.

Integrated academic workflows have transformed how our institution manages courses and results
For Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, every time we need to make an adjustment, we must make a payment, which is slightly expensive for us as an organization. There are certain modifications we'd like to make, and those come with a cost. The licensing is also very expensive, so if the prices could be revisited, especially for educational institutions, that would be really helpful. Otherwise, it has proven to be a very good tool for us as an organization. I chose a rating of nine for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central because it has been very useful for us as an organization, but there are still a few improvements that need to be made. Sometimes we experience glitches when generating certain reports, and every time we need to make a modification, we have to pay for that. Thus, I will not give it a ten because there are a few areas needing improvement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The accounting, purchasing, and basic ERP functions work well. But they are a little bit older, but they work for us. The inventory management is good and necessary for any company that manages stock for production or services."
"The appeal of NAV was that it's all-inclusive, so we didn't need 15 different programs to keep the business running."
"For me, the main strengths of Microsoft Dynamics NAV are that it's user-friendly and light. These are its major wins. I have used other ERPs and their architecture were a little more complex when compared to the Microsoft Dynamics NAV architecture."
"We like the manufacturing and case management modules."
"The solution makes everything organized for my organization or enterprise. It makes workflows more than clear."
"The initial setup is easy - because it stands on Microsoft offerings, it's simple and intuitive to use."
"The best features Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central offers for me is that this software makes my life very easy, as I have a complete snapshot of my pipeline and a complete snapshot of my daily activities, where I can see what the status of my leads is, where I am standing in terms of closure, and the aging of my opportunities, which tells me how much time there is in the opportunity."
"The solution's integrations and interface are very good."
"By centralizing the main data, each employee has the necessary information in real time."

Cons

"We're facing challenges with iScala in the public sector, specifically healthcare. The system doesn't have sufficient support for the complexities of managing payments for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff."
"The stability could always be improved."
"We need to customize more often than we would like."
"There is a need for improvement in consolidation and multi-country master data management."
"There is a book for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central explaining how to use it. But it is not easy to use, and it is not easy to learn."
"There were also scalability issues experienced. When doing multiple data transfer into one table with different users at the same time, the system locked and went into the “Not Responding” mode."
"Implementing localizations when we use the system for multiple countries can be quite complex."
"The formulas in Power BI could be simpler. Sometimes, it's difficult to figure them out, but I am part of a lot of communities that work with us, so we help each other."
"If Microsoft made some of the security setups a little easier to work with, that would be a significant improvement. The warehouse management features could also use some work. We had to buy third-party software to make NAV's warehouse management and security more usable and functional."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to local ERP solutions, it's on the higher side."
"I give the solution a seven out of ten for pricing."
"The deployment cost us $70,000 and we pay around $18,000 annually for support, which we find to be expensive."
"There is an annual cost of using Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The cost is approximately 140,000 INR."
"I have some subscription-based customer and a few customers who have perpetual licenses that hosted the application on the cloud."
"We have a perpetual license to use Microsoft Dynamics NAV."
"The solution's license is costly compared to other CRM tools."
"I would rate the pricing of this solution at three out of five."
"The license changes every year. Sometimes it's for fixed users, and sometimes it's for concurrent users."
