Ensures seamless integration and centralized visibility for network security operations
The version upgrade from a single dashboard for all the firewalls in one click is the beauty of Fortinet FortiManager as the most impactful feature in managing our network security. Fortinet FortiManager's policy management enhances our security protocols by enabling us and giving integrated centralized visibility, which has proven to be very healthy. Because of this, we have identified some of the vulnerabilities in our systems, and we mitigated them through Fortinet FortiManager. The central dashboards and the visibility are what appealed to us to go with Fortinet FortiManager. Fortinet FortiManager has adapted to changes in our network scale and complexity as we have geographically 18 international locations, all equipped with firewalls and some cybersecurity initiatives and IT infrastructure initiatives.

Dynamic discovery and effective network topology make IT monitoring valuable
The solution enables dynamic discovery and incorporates a powerful configuration management database, CMDB, along with a strong correlation engine. It covers the entire span of the infrastructure, including servers and network operations. It also adapts well to different environments, showing network topology effectively, making the network monitoring tool quite valuable.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's a very rich, robust product."
"Even without the security orchestration, just the fact that the customer could request the firewall team to configure a job that would roll out a configuration on the firewalls and it could be deployed across all the firewalls through the FortiManager was a big improvement compared to deploying the new firewall rule on each firewall sequentially."
"Technical support was excellent."
"The central management feature is the most valuable to me."
"The most valuable feature is the centralized management console."
"The centralized policy management helps with the creation of policies because it is easy to monitor and facilitates installation."
"FortiManager's best feature is the integration of administrator users."
"Fortinet FortiManager allows a full view of all the devices on the network from one location."

"When it comes to customization, Micro Focus is more mature than its competitors."
"The solution enables dynamic discovery and incorporates a powerful configuration management database, CMDB, along with a strong correlation engine."

Cons

"There may be a communication issue. However, other items may be the culprit, such as network connectivity. It depends on the customer's network."
"Regional support in African countries needs to be improved."
"Within the management of some features on FortiManager, specifically the management of user objects used for VPN service, FortiManager is quite weak."
"My rating is not perfect due to the threat intelligence of Fortinet FortiManager, which has a lot of false positives."
"We have experienced a series of minor bugs that necessitated contacting technical support on several occasions."
"Not just in FortiManager, but in any Fortinet project in general, the troubleshooting is very hard."
"The price always has room for improvement."

"The user interface is outdated and needs improvement, especially for service and topology maps."
"Micro Focus Network Management doesn't support end-to-end monitoring of cloud infrastructure."
"Micro Focus Network Management doesn't support end-to-end monitoring of cloud infrastructure. Micro Focus might have different cloud solutions for cloud automation and hybrid cloud management. There are a lot of products that also support automation. That is different, but it should monitor the cloud from an IT operations management perspective."
"It may need a more customizable UI."
